Duragesic for dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Duragesic for dogs

duragesic

Avatar f tn For sure. Cats are at least 10 times smaller than a SMALL adult human female. What is given to us is too much for such a small animal. For example: The amount of Zyrtec I was told to give to Akira is only 1/4 of the adult human dosage. This is much smaller than the children's dosage, which is 1/2 of the adult human dosage. I would never ever give medications to Akira without her first seeing her doctor. I do know that no one should ever give Tylenol to their pets.
Avatar n tn I find it odd that J&J won't provide you with any information regarding where to purchase their duragesic patches. I am on Opana ER and if you go to their website, http://www.opana.com, they actually have a pharamacy locator on the website. Is there some other brand of the fentanyl patch that is available at one of your pharmacies? Is your prescription specifically written for the J&J duragesic patch?
Avatar m tn Thanks for clarifying your concern. Sometimes we miss the true question and I apologize. The Fentanyl Patch is a very effective pain management medication - however it doesn't work the same in all ppl. I've heard your very complaint from others. I was only on it for a few days before I developed blisters from the tape. We tried everything for a week to treat the blistering - I'd hope it would be an answer - but my body said different.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE..
Avatar n tn t really have that much to lose. Duragesic is perfect for a cancer patient but really is not ideal for a person who is planing on getting off of it.
Avatar f tn Mollyrae, my experience is just the opposite. LOL! Everyone is so different with these patches, and ultimately it takes each person trying a different brand to figure out which one works the best. Duragesic is the original name brand product. You can easily see the gel in the clear plastic patch. There are many pharmaceutical companies who make a gel patch, and some are better than others.
Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
Avatar m tn My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar m tn Yea my hip is about to kill me now down so much on the patch. I am looking for a dr. to eval me for a new procedure call Anterior Approach where the muscle in the leg is retracted and spared. Once I talk to them and feel comfortable I will probally go and have it done. Between 1-6 months..that could streght after summer.. Not sure? I was on .2mg Temgesic when I was in mexico years ago and it was the BEST pain med I have ever used.. Its not sold in usa.
Avatar f tn I am in the pharmacy program that pays for my patched until i get my DSS and I cannot find the brandname anywhere due to the new DEA guidelines on sched 2 narcotics. Any ideas? none of the pharmacies in my county or surrounding counties have the name brand and I can't afford to buy my own generic right now.Does anyone know of a generic equivalent patch that the drug company will give me for free?
Avatar f tn Doctor, it sure seems like I am on a lot of different medications. Here, I wrote out a list for you. [The written list is for your doctor's convenience -- so he has the list right there in front of him, in case he doesn't remember all your meds.] Are there any that I can do without? Which ones do I absolutely need before I get those 5 injections?" Then, see what he says.
Avatar m tn I lived in Mexico for most of 99 and the dr. there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering why you feel the Duragesic is bad for you? I just started the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours plus oxycodone for breaththrough pain along with a few other meds I specifically witched over to the Duragesic brand a month or two ago, and that one work bet for me in many way.(It doesn't fall off or leave a glue residue on my kin or clothes.
401095 tn?1351391770 Avis is wise. "Fentanyl is an opioid analgesic with a potency approximately eighty times that of morphine." According to the FDA: "Duragesic is to be used only for the management of severe, chronic pain (such as cancer pain) that cannot be managed with less powerful drugs such as acetaminophen-opioid combinations and nonsteroidal analgesics.
Avatar n tn Hello again....I did get to my pain management Dr. this week and talked about the Duragesic Patch being partially responsible for this severe depression I am in. Of course they don't have a crystal ball but discussed switching me into another medication and spoke of the conversion table they use to determine what dose to use. My question is this....
Avatar n tn I am a wife, mom and greatful recovering addict. I have been in the hospital for 8 days and have been told that I have pancreatic cancer. It is in the early stages. My records have been sent to the pancreatic center in Cincinati to find the best treatment available. I have had an addiction to oxycontin and went to detox and rehab. I am 11months and 5 days clean and sober and am enjoying life being sober!!!! I was given dilaudid in the hospital and I have been sent home on the Duragesic Patch.
Avatar m tn I am on the duragesic patch and use MSIR for breakthrough pain, I have been on MSIR for about 30 years its been the one consistant medication in my life we added the Duragesic Patch for a more lasting effect. The two meds together work well together. Without the pain meds I cannot function, with them I lead a normal life take care of my family, work, read without them I do not get out of bed socialize and do other things/ I want a normal life.
603576 tn?1219955064 Is there a narcotic specially made for people that easily get sick from narcotics. I don't know what is wrong. This last time I took Norco I totally broke out all over my body. Weirdest thing I had ever seen. It itched, and looked like marbles were just beneath my skin all over my back and face. This wasn't just PMS acne.. Plus I was barfing my guts out. Narcotics never used to do this. I took Norco before this without this happening. Today I tried darvon.
Avatar n tn My husband had the same problem with his Insurance, so he called the manufacturer of Duragesic ( Name Brand ) and they go by your income and The Duragesic Co. paid for his patches for a whole year. Look on Internet for phone no. and they will mail you a form and you can fax or mail it in. Good luck !!!!
Avatar f tn Did I not say I was praying for this miracle for you????? When I read this all I could do was smile...I don't believe in coincidences, so the Lord heard the prayer!!! Gosh I am so excited for you thinline-yippeee!
Avatar f tn Due to the fact that Duragesic is only prescribed for long-term, severe pain problems, patients must taper down slowly under a knowledgeable physician’s care, or, enter a detox center for 24/7 treatment. With a moderate to severe addiction from relatively long term use, an in patient detox in a hospital or medical supervised setting is highly recommended for its multi- disciplinary approach.
Avatar n tn My pain specialist has me taking Duragesic 75 mcq for pain and temezapam for what little sleep I sometimes get.I have been on this same drug regiman since2002.I dont seem to grt near the releif I achived in 02.I am still on worker comp, but have been fired from my job of 30yrs due to the restrictions the doctor placed on me.Now I have been informed that the medicare setaside fund is suggesting I be dropped from the Duragesic and placed on Ultram for pain and meletonin for sleep.
Avatar f tn I found this, not sure of the accuracy of the whole article, but copied it for you. I've never used the patches, but this seems like very good info. Perhaps someone else can comment on the accuracy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The recommended procedure is to clean the area with water and then apply the patch. However, for anyone who has used Fentanyl Generics or Duragesic, we know that's ridiculous.
564735 tn?1263943526 I tried the Fentanyl patches as well for about a month or a little more. I did find them helpful but like Angie said, they really only helped take the edge off not get rid of the pain completely. I went off of them only because I was admitted to the hospital and they found it difficult to give me IV pain meds with the patch on. I'm actually thinking about trying them again...I feel the same way you do. Grocery shopping has become such an effort...heck, taking a shower almost knocks me down!
Avatar m tn There appears to be is a move to attempt make this patch only available to cancer patients for short term use, rather than for long term chronic pain. The reason for this is it is highly addictive. Intravenous Fentanyl is used routinely, as a one off in anaesthesia during operations, to control intraoperative pain and is highly effective. One off use under controlled means does not produce addiction.
274158 tn?1276347187 Not towards me. Just other dogs......I thought he was showing aggression towards my daughter, but he was just trying to sniff her crotch! He is gross! I guess that's what dogs do! But, no agression towards us humans, just dogs, which isn't fun....
