ve never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals. I've tried changing to different boxes of Duragesic but that hasn't helped. I was wondering if anyone else has recently had problems with their Duragesic 100?

Im on 150mcg fentanyl patches every 3 days with 120mg dihydrocodeine every day and have been for nearly 10 years because of a lower spine bodge operation. I have been going to pm for a little over a year now and have been using the duragesic patches for the last 4 months.The patches are a godsend and i can maintain a 4-5 pain scale.You do not mention a sleep aid or a muscle relaxer as part of your meds. I consider them both mandatory for this curse.

Fentanyl patches come in different strengths I think all the way to 12.5 and up. They are a stronger med but controlled release.

Of course, Duragesic has stopped production of the 25mcg patches so I am right now suffering severe chest pains on the generic patches. I have tried both sets (small slender strip and the larger gel-filled type) and both make my chest hurt to high heaven. Right now I can't sleep because of the nagging pain in my chest.

I have been on duragesic patches for 6 months now 50 mg every 48 hours and i take a lot of hot baths. 7 - 8 per day and while the patch is on my chest area. There are two types, the ones that are gell filled (duragesic) and the mylan patches which are just flat. Between the two, the gell filled ones are much better and last longer. the mylan ones you are lucky to get 52 hours out of. That being said, be careful with the patches. If you ever want to w/d from them be prepared for a horrible experience!! I was just wondering if anyone has used duragesic pain patches. My oncologist is recommending I use these patches from ongoing pain from tumors. I am a little nervous about using the patches but I am also over the pain. The pain has restricted my lifestyle. Going to go the grocery store or running errands has become difficult and I am no longer able to go to the gym. Has anyone had problems with these patches? If you used the patches, how long did you use them?

Hello,I have just been put on or am trying fentanyl or duragesic patches, I am not sure of the outcome yet, actually in the 50+ hour as far as time goes so through the most worrisome part. ve seen so many people fail with fentanyl patches on, and my PM even admitted he knows the patches falling off are an issue and that the medication does not get evenly distributed in your body. So, I'm worried about testing negative for medication. I did not have a ua yesterday, he told me to call him at the end of the month and that I could pick up the fentanyl prescription and then he would also put me on a 30 day of oxycodone and then I have another appointment on November 15th.

t know the severity of your pain but I do know duragesic patches are really strong and hard to come off of .how long are they planning on keeping you on it .How are you doing my child was diagnosed with cancer a 8 .I know what this can do to the whole family .Its never easy.

I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.

t throw duragesic or fentanyl patches away in the trash. They say on the box that they have to be flushed immediatly after use or diposed by the pharmacy or doctor. I am so glad those evil things are gone! I never want to see them again!

I have been on and off the fentanyl patches for years. I had so many problems, The small ones would just disappear and I could never find them. The big ones, I couldn't find a space big enough to put them on. I found the best thing was using the tape they use to cover an iv. It is breathable, and so thin it is like a sliver of skin. Ask your phamacist about this.

I don't see why you would have withdrawals from the patch- unless it's a much lower dosage. The only patches I've taken are the Duragesic , so I don't know for sure. What I do know is that you are NOT worthless! All of the ups and downs associated with PM can be traumatic- especially until you find a stable regimen that works for you. Don't beat yourself up! Give the patches some time to work and keep your chin up.
