duragesic

Avatar m tn See I had no problem coming off duragesic. I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms. My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days. Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean. No jitters, it was great. Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's. I seriously had no problem whatsoever. Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!
Avatar n tn My pain doc put me on duragesic and it was the worst possible of all solutions. Does duragesic work? Yes. It is very effective but getting off of it was the worst experience of my life. I was miserable for three weeks. I lost 22 lbs and didn't really have that much to lose. Duragesic is perfect for a cancer patient but really is not ideal for a person who is planing on getting off of it.
Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
431814 tn?1205846947 Last Tues I stopped the 100mcg duragesic patch and I went through h**** til about Sat. and then I went and screwed it up on Sat, Sun and today. I had some left and I knew I shouldn't but I thought what the heck the worst is over and I really wanted to sleep so I only used it long enough to get rid of that ya know odd feeling so I could rest and then I flushed it.
Avatar m tn But hey-when we are sick and in pain and we just want to be better...Human. You just have to way the pros and cons carefully as to ensure the best quality of life possible. I have Crohns, RA, IC, and severe endo...I've found my pain levels much lower post-opiates (44 days) I do a lot of alternative pain management therapies which I would be happy to share with you if you're interested....I wish you the best of luck.....
Avatar m tn to eval me for a new procedure call Anterior Approach where the muscle in the leg is retracted and spared. Once I talk to them and feel comfortable I will probally go and have it done. Between 1-6 months..that could streght after summer.. Not sure? I was on .2mg Temgesic when I was in mexico years ago and it was the BEST pain med I have ever used.. Its not sold in usa. Its a low dose version of the subs they use here for withdrawals...Its was super good and never got addicted to it..
Avatar f tn Oh, my. I can certainly sympathize with your pain and agitation. Not only do you have the pain in your spine, but all those meds must be taking their toll on you! Of course, we have no way of knowing why you were prescribed all those meds, and we don't know what your condition is (this is an anonymous forum), but given the information you posted, here is what I would do if I were in your shoes.
Avatar m tn I lived in Mexico for most of 99 and the dr. there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch.
1086611 tn?1257289724 Hello All, I have been on the brand name Duragesic Fentanyl Patch 100mc for close to 5 years. Recently, I filled my new prescription and noticed they changed everything about the Duragesic Patch. Has anyone else noticed this new development? I noticed it reminds me of the generic brand (which didn't work for me). I'm very worried that since they changed the design of the Brand what else did they change? I don't want like when they change medications that work for myself.
Avatar n tn I guess what I am looking for here is some feedback from those who have transitioned from duragesic into oral meds. See, I am alone and doing all of this alone is a scary road. Thank you folks...any questions, please feel free.
Avatar n tn I was not on it for very long so I don't know how much help I can be. At the time my insurance wouldn't cover it and it was too expensive. I also had some absorbtion/adhesion problems with it. My doctor switched me to MSContin after a month or so of the patch and I did have some withdrawl/switching issues. It wasn't as bad as full-out withdrawls, though, at all.
Avatar n tn I have had an addiction to oxycontin and went to detox and rehab. I am 11months and 5 days clean and sober and am enjoying life being sober!!!! I was given dilaudid in the hospital and I have been sent home on the Duragesic Patch. I had full disclosure with the doctor and he knows my entire history. Unfortunately, the pain is to bad to just be controlled with over the counter meds and I was told that Tylenol will just aggrivate the situation. Needless to say, I am scared to death.
Avatar n tn My husband had the same problem with his Insurance, so he called the manufacturer of Duragesic ( Name Brand ) and they go by your income and The Duragesic Co. paid for his patches for a whole year. Look on Internet for phone no. and they will mail you a form and you can fax or mail it in. Good luck !!!!
Avatar n tn I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
Avatar f tn My husband and I decided to try and have a baby which means I have to bite the bullet and just deal with the pain and get off all the drugs. I have never abused my meds and always followed my doc's orders... which I know really doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things since abused or not I know I will be having a ***** of a time getting off these things. I had quite dilaudid last year cold turkey to see where my pain levels were at which was absolutely horrible...
Avatar m tn I am on the duragesic patch and use MSIR for breakthrough pain, I have been on MSIR for about 30 years its been the one consistant medication in my life we added the Duragesic Patch for a more lasting effect. The two meds together work well together. Without the pain meds I cannot function, with them I lead a normal life take care of my family, work, read without them I do not get out of bed socialize and do other things/ I want a normal life.
Avatar n tn My pain specialist has me taking Duragesic 75 mcq for pain and temezapam for what little sleep I sometimes get.I have been on this same drug regiman since2002.I dont seem to grt near the releif I achived in 02.I am still on worker comp, but have been fired from my job of 30yrs due to the restrictions the doctor placed on me.Now I have been informed that the medicare setaside fund is suggesting I be dropped from the Duragesic and placed on Ultram for pain and meletonin for sleep.
564735 tn?1263943526 I was just wondering if anyone has used duragesic pain patches. My oncologist is recommending I use these patches from ongoing pain from tumors. I am a little nervous about using the patches but I am also over the pain. The pain has restricted my lifestyle. Going to go the grocery store or running errands has become difficult and I am no longer able to go to the gym. Has anyone had problems with these patches? If you used the patches, how long did you use them?
Avatar m tn Hi I hope before you started taking this it was explained this is 50 x stronger than morphine and is highly addictive and when people want to come off it they find it very difficult as they get little support from Doctors and suffer lots of withdrawal symptoms. Better to look at other ways to control pain . The patch is notorious for not lasting 3 days and people going into withdrawal on a regular basis. They feel good the day the new patch goes on and bad by the 3rd day.
Avatar f tn i am having a hard time keeping my patches on and the doctors wont replace the patches until it is time for refill and the pharmacies dont seem to care either. I have tried different brands, I have tried different parts of my body, and I have tried the tagaderm bandages on top of the patches and nothing seems to work. Is there a pharmacutical company that actually knows how to make a patch that sticks. or this there a way for them to work if they dont stick??
Avatar f tn Thanks. And yes the pharmacist advised both us and our Physician about this. Our subsequent discussions involved several people & Departments at KP, with conflicting answers. Bottom line is it's not available. Another forum posted shipping has resumed for some patches; I haven't verified that. It is not just what they said in response to our questions. It is also what they did not say. Obviously something is being withheld and that bothers me. Life is not boring....
Avatar n tn I was on duragesic for 9 months for back pain. I can tell you I would never consider using duragesic again unless I was terminally ill. Quitting this medication was horrible. I was shivering, vommiting, diaphrea and compleate malaise for a week or two.
Avatar f tn 80% chance that I will be worse off with more surgery. Followed protocol at PM clinic, graduated to Duragesic patches 100 and 25 mcg for TWO years/they are no longer working ( took them every 72 hrs until 1 month ago when dr. switched me to every 48 hrs.) Director of pain clinic (NOT my PM dr.
Avatar n tn cover the whole thing. and as for it starting to work well it took about 20 hours my very first day, but after 6 months of being on it it started to make me kinda sick and maken me loose weight rapidly.... good luck to u....
