duragesic

Avatar n tn My records have been sent to the pancreatic center in Cincinati to find the best treatment available. I have had an addiction to oxycontin and went to detox and rehab. I am 11months and 5 days clean and sober and am enjoying life being sober!!!! I was given dilaudid in the hospital and I have been sent home on the Duragesic Patch. I had full disclosure with the doctor and he knows my entire history.
Avatar m tn it is not approved i dont think as a pain medication here in the us but is approved for opiate addiction...read up at this site...
431814 tn?1205846947 regardless of what type of addiction we have had... addiction is addiction right? I am 21 days today and to be honest someone on this site in the early days told me to watch out for cravings but as I had just come through the worst w/d's I thought there is no way I would ever use again...
Avatar m tn I had the same reaction with the percocet where I had to take 2-3 at once. I was just prescribed the duragesic patch 25mcg but have not filled the prescription, while researching on internet found the ingredients in this patch being some powerful meds that I have never experienced before and I am in fear of overdose, not being able to concentrate on my job or addiction.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE..
Avatar n tn Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...if you cut them you would have no way of knowing the amount your wife would be absorbing..
Avatar f tn I spent 15 yrs taking oxycontin, duragesic patch (fentanyl) for previous back surgeries. I still had continual pain. 2 yrs ago I decided to stop all pain meds. My body was physically addicted and built up a tolerance. I never abused my medication and took it exactly as described. Initially, I tried to wean myself off-stopping one of the oxycontin's per day. The withdrawal was "nuts". My legs thrashed, I had freezing cold sweats, shivering, agitation-and God knows what else.
Avatar m tn m new on here I just switched from fentanyl to methadone and I was wondering which generic was the best, when it came to my fentanyl Duragesic was far and away the best, just trying to get the biggest bang for my buck
Avatar f tn I've been on the Duragesic 100 for almost 18 years. I've had 3 cervical fusions & 1 lumbar laminectomy. The Duragesic 100 has controlled my constant, chronic pain & while I've never been pain free, the Duragesic certainty helped. However in the last 2 months, its as if the patches are no longer working. I've always had additional breakthrough meds, but now its as if I'm going through withdrawals.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have longterm experience on the Duragesic Patch? I'd like to speak with any long time users.
Avatar f tn My mom is very sick w/ Multiple Sclerosis and is dependant on narcotics (high dose) to perform daily activities. There is a Hx of addiction in my family. The withdrawls that occur if I try and stop I would not wish on my worst enemy. I have been in W/D so bad that I thought I might die. Fever, chills, goosebumps, diarrea, weight loss, sweats, insomnia, tremors, crying, all of the worst things you can imagine I have been through. I want to stop more than I have ever wanted anything in my life.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome! It's really great that you're aware of the potential of the percocet addiction because it's a valid concern. With your health issues it's important to keep an open dialogue with your doctor and to keep him posted on your thoughts and feelings (both physical and mental). It sounds like you're very aware of the possible complications that go along with daily use of pain pills and that's great! Please talk to your doctor and keep us posted!
Avatar f tn I was just prescribed the Duragesic Pain Patch after suffering for months with terrible neuropathy in my feet. I could hardly walk the past few days and even called a Suicide hot line for help. I was desperate. I have Liver Disease so the doctors do not want to give me any anti inflammatory medication. The dr. prescribed the patch today and Percocet for breakthrough pain. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the patch. I really appreciate anyones information. Thank you so very much.
Avatar m tn I have chronic pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis. My pain has been well managed for 2 1/2 years using tramadol (ultram) for maintenance and lortab for break through pain. I have developed chronic kidney disease and my doctors are pushing me to get some exercise. I have found that with every exercise form I have tried I quickly get beyond the pain control offered bu tramadol and lortab so i can't exercise.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Duragesic Patch 74 mcg for about 3 1/2 years. During the last 6 months, I have become extremely depressed. I notice that it is worse after the second day any given patch is on. I have been treated for the depression with different antidepressants and so far have not found one that works. I am so desperate for help as the depression has taken over my life. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any input would be appreciated. I feel as though I am running out of time.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor), but I would think that if you are on duragesic (the most powerful painkiller on the planet), you don't have to take the solpadeine, and, if the amitriptyline is just to help you sleep, you probably don't need it, either, if you find the duragesic to be sedating. And in fact, you might not need the lyrica. Of course, that's assuming you are getting them all from one doctor. If you have more than one doctor, make sure they *all* know what you are taking.
Avatar m tn there had me on a medication called Temgesic. When I came back to usa I went on Duragesic Patch after a year or so.. I think this Temgesic is the detox meds you guys are talking about. I have a old box here and they were 2mg sublingal. Its buprenorfina (sp).. Brand as I say was Temgesic. Its a great medication for pain and I can never remember having the side effect of it that I have with this patch. I can't wait for the day I have none of this medication in my body.
Avatar n tn I guess what I am looking for here is some feedback from those who have transitioned from duragesic into oral meds. See, I am alone and doing all of this alone is a scary road. Thank you folks...any questions, please feel free.
Avatar f tn The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.
Avatar m tn First he talked to his doctor and his doctor tapered him off all the pain pills first. With the Duragesic Patch he switched my hubby to a long acting pain medication (pill form) which he is now tapering down (all in all a 6 month taper). You really, really need to do this under the care of your doctor. All of hubby's doctors flat out told me that to do it any other way was very dangerous and I suspect it could be dangerous for you too.
Avatar m tn What Im thinking about doing, is somehow ask my PCP to switch me to the same equivalent dose of a duragesic fentanyl patch. That way I would be away from the temptation of the having the pills just laying around for me to take at will. I could simply put on a patch and forget about it for three days. In your experience, what are my chances for success with getting away from the oxys by switching to the patch?
