Avatar n tn What is the cause of your neuropathy? Duloxetine is also a good suggestion for Diabetic neuropathy.
Avatar n tn Treatment of peripheral neuropathy depends on the cause. Vitamin deficiencies can be corrected, diabetes controlled, neuropathies associated with immune diseases can improve with treatment of autoimmune disorder, nerve entrapment can be treated with physical therapy. Sympathetic injections can minimise shingles progressing to post herpetic neuralgia.
1218873 tn?1300091216 First thing to note, Unfortunately smoking does affects the amount of duloxetine in your system and blood stream meaning that you will loose between 40 - 50% of the duloxetine dose you take. It is not uncommon for people to have their duloxetine prescription increased if they smoke.
Avatar f tn I was on that for several years and did better than anything else but my neuro wanted me off it, so I agreed to go with the Duloxetine. There are options.
Avatar f tn t know for sure if this is the cause of the burning, but both Hep C and Interferon can cause peripheral neuropathy. One of the signs of peripheral neuropathy is burning of the feet. These symptoms are something you should discuss with your doctor. They could be from Hep C, from the interferon, or both. They may disappear after treatment but they may not. Plus they may or may not be from peripheral neuropathy. They could be from something else. So best to get it checked out.

Avatar m tn I do not have any clue about this. I presume you mean "peripheral neuropathy" and not CIDP which is also treated with IVIG?
Avatar n tn ACE inhibitors are widely used, specially in diabetic patients who usually have a higher prevalence of peripheral neuropathy, and worsening of neuropathy on patients caused by these medications is not common. The fact that the side effect is not common does not mean that what you feel is not related to the medication. I cannot really say if the medication is causing you the problem or not.
446049 tn?1649005835 I am starting on a very low dose of the cymbalta, so that I can transition off the first one, and onto this one. Both my new gyne and my psych want me to give this a try. Since I have at least another month or two wait before I can go to the pain clinic, I'm willing to give everything I can a try! Some people do get wonderful results from the reviews I've read on line, so I am crossing my fingers I get the same results! My next step would be Neurontin.

381249 tn?1203542924 I know that peripheral neuropathy is a symptom, not a disease. I am diagnosed with secondary progressive MS but I had some signs of peripheral neuropathy too. So I was tested for many many different things. My EMG was fine so were most of my tests as I have already written. Things are getting worse and worse. My legs freeze increasing my spasticity. I cannot stand even minor enviropmental changes. As you understand I am not treated for anything, apart from MS, as we don't know what it is.

Avatar m tn I have severe peripheral neuropathy (PN) in both feet as a result of cancer (Waldenstrom). The cancer has been successfully treated but the PN is steadily getting worse. I tested negative on NCV and EMG. I take Lyrica and Amitriptyline. I'm on my feet for an hour a day wearing Crocs and can't wear shoes. It helps to sit with my feet up (level with my bottom) otherwise they get more painful, swollen and purple. Q: My PN seem different from how most descibe it.

6708370 tn?1471490210 Any experiences to share about Peripheral Neuropathy and Cirrhosis? I have been feeling dizzy the last few days and the long time pain in the joints of my toes seems to be related to my ongoing advanced liver disease. Drugs have been recommended of course including Gabapentin. Would a high regimen of Vitamin B help? Any and all shared experiences are most welcome. Oh, and Happy Holidays everyone!
Avatar n tn Hi...peripheral neuropathy can cause tingling and numbness in hands or feet....and it is common in those with Chiari.... I really do not understand when Drs do not think certain symptoms or pains can not be from Chiari when Chiari affects the brain stem, spinal cord, and all the nerves run thru there....so how can it not ? Did they rule out tethered cord for you? What type of pain is it?
329994 tn?1301663248 It sounds as though you were diagnosed with a large fiber neuropathy. There are several categories of this type of neuropathy, and there are many many causes. Sensory neuropathies can involve just one nerve or several nerves in the body. The symptoms are sensory loss and if motor nerves are involved ,weakness. Some types of sensory neuropathies occur and progress very slowly, others sort of wax and wane (with flare-ups) and some are progressive.
412873 tn?1329174455 I am curious to know if anyone has developed peripheral neuropathy while on tx and what can be done to relieve symptoms. Also, if this was brought on by tx, will it resolve afterwards? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Avatar n tn The latest problems relate to peripheral neuropathy in his hands (and, less so, his feet). They are either burning very painfully or numb and he gets very upset about this, not to mention the fact that it reduces his everyday quality of life. We live in the UK and he has been given tablets which are supposed to take the pain away.
