Statins have also been shown to be much safer for the liver than originally thought. In fact, they are now used to treat liver disease as patients with damaged livers have shown increased liver function on statins. So much so that the FDA is considering removing liver damage from the list of side effects. You have a greater chance of liver damage by taking Acetaminophen than you do from a statin.

I agree with Sir_Osis - he stomach could be drained which would provide a lot of relief from discomfort. There are drugs that are used with a patient with ascites and edema - diuretics.

The basic treatment for ascites is bed rest and a salt-restricted diet, usually combined with drugs called diuretics, which make the kidneys excrete more water into the urine.
Your liver function has not been altered by your liver disease yet. If you become stage 4 (cirrhosis) then you will have to modify what drugs you can take because the liver is no longer able to process drugs in a normal manner.
Tramadol is an synthetic opiate and should not be taken for "mild" pain.
If you are close to or stage 4, Tylenol is the drug of choice for cirrhotics as long as you limit dosing to 2 grams per day and and don't mix it with alcohol.
Welcom to the forum. I also have Stage 3 fibrosis. I was one of those people who didn't treat early on as I kept waiting for something better. My recommendation is to work with a Hepatologist who is well versed in treatment and keeps up with what is going on in this battle to cure Hep C. At Stage 3, you want to treat sooner so that your liver damage is arrested.

So I think that a 7 day course of Monistat cream would be safe for use in early Candida infection in a person with liver disease (provided the person is not having decompensated liver disease). Other effective drugs like amphotericin B and Echinocandins are injectables and are used in cases who do not respond and in patients with decompensated liver disease. These have minimal liver side effects but are costly.

Liver enzymes are very sensitive and can elevate for both temporary insignificant health issues or be an indicator of a significant health condition. High levels of AST alone do not suggest liver disease; a notable exception is Wilson's disease (rare).

I had an endoscopy done to determine if any of my other organs were effected. If there are enlarged veins in the stomach called varices an endoscopy will detect this.
