Avatar m tn DMSO is thought to increase the effects of blood thinners, steroids, heart medicines, sedatives, and other drugs. In some cases this could be harmful or dangerous.[26] It is a developmental neurotoxin.[31] In Australia it is listed as a schedule 4 poison, and a company has been prosecuted for adding it to products as a preservative.[32] Because DMSO easily penetrates the skin, substances dissolved in DMSO may be quickly absorbed. Glove selection is important when working with DMSO.
Avatar f tn You could certainly talk to the gastroenterologist about the level and character of sedation you would prefer, but the exact medication reaction any one person will experience is not completely predictable. Two drugs were used for me. I think Demerol and something in the Valium class, but I can't remember what. I was not aware of pain or what they were doing, but yet I could hear my own voice calmly saying "ow, ow, ow, ow.

Avatar n tn Hello. This seems to be a side effect from antidepressants from my experience, as they tend to create an artificial sense of balance, or lack of emotion. I suffer from depressive and anxiety based disorders, and the ability to cry or laugh seems to be impeded except when I have used alcohol or other sedating drugs. Only then am I able to truly express how I feel. Would be interested in the experiences of others in relation to such effects.
Avatar n tn s, barbiturates, and other types of sedatives (chloral hydrate, z-drugs, etc) can often be used for 2 weeks safely without need for a taper. as your doctor to be sure, but in general they are safe. however, taking them longer than 2 weeks tends to increase the risk of all sorts of nasty stuff. if you are going to need a long term sleep aid, i would seriously consider discussing other alternatives for a sleep med. xanax is usually considered a poor choice.
620004 tn?1227825306 Could this be from the dye that was used in my MRI? I know that it takes time for the sedatives that they used to leave ones system also. How long does it take to get the dye and the sedatives out of ones system? I just started taking the Klonipin on October 14th also, so I am concerned that maybe I am unable to take that. From what I understand it builds in your body, unlike Xanax that leaves your system in like six hours. So could I be allergic or extremly sensitive to the Klonipin?

I don't tolerate lithium well and side effects have gotten much worse over time. Lamictal has been okay for me as long as we watch the dose - it's very reactive to hormones and that has been a huge problem. Was soooo looking forward to only one mood stabilizer...
