She finally admitted that she was hooked and needed help. We got her into a rehab center to hopefully get off them, so we can save our marriage. It is just as hard on me with her not being here becasue she is my best friend and we had our routine of drinking coffee and talking about anything that we want, and it was so depressing to wake up and not see my best friend laying next to me. I was wondering what it is like in rehab.
I know that aftercare is a big step in recovery. Can anyone give me any suggestions that has helped them?
It was a meeting once a week with all alumni from the rehab program and the same counselors that ran the rehab. AA or NA came be aftercare as well, but its all up to you to get yourself to go. You have to shop around to find a meeting place that your comfortable with. They are not all the same. Some are large and have one main speaker, and some are small and more like a process group. Just find one that you like and youll be more likely to become a regular.
So im going to say know matter were you are in your recovery without AFTERCARE it is a lot harder to do it without AFTERCARE AFTERCARE AFTERCARE i think this is the key Well it was for me A very happy and proud addict And plz always keep your guard up thats also so so true Sara as most who have fought addiction will already know Thank you all at MH you guys rock,,,,James
As much as I know it's true there is a part of me that doesn't want to believe it. I asked him to leave this morning and it was not a pretty sight. I hope I can stick to my guns this time!!
They kept him in rehab for one week. He lost his job the day before he went in. His insurance ran out at the end of the week so I am assuming that is why they gave him the boot. He went once for aftercare and they suggested the AA meetings. He went for a month but that was it.

I'm hoping someone who understands addiction could help. My 21 yr. old son is an addict. He's been in rehab a few times in the past 4 years. His drug of choice is mainly marijuana, but he's used cocaine, oxcy and various other drugs and he drinks. Over the last month... he began drinking a lot, smoking pot a lot, snorting coke and doing a bit of this or that (I'm not sure).
Aftercare is extremely import to recovery, just going to a rehab to detox is only a part of the battle. Aftercare helps us addicts understand our behavior and gives us tools to cope with our addiction. I hope that he is not back to using but if you want to know if he is ask him. I would also watch his behavior you will now if he is using just by certain things he may do.
I have been addicted to pain killers for 6+ years. I've decided that enough is enough & I can't continue to live like this anymore. I am 3 days clean & currently going through withdrawls. I can not afford rehab, or have anyone to care for my children if I could afford to go. I don't know if wanting to quit & change my life is enough for me to kick this. My husband knows about my addiction, I went to him for help. He doesn't understand why I can't just stop.
I have struggled with addiction to opiates for 8 years now. I have been on them all from Oxys to Roxy lastly to a 2 year heavy IV heroin addiction. Over the years i have tried to quit hundreds and hundreds of times some resulting in months or sobriety but never longer. I have been to numerous rehab and detox facility's some of the best in the US. But I was always stubborn and thought that after going thru such bad wds i had learned my lesson.
i voluntarily put myself into an 18 month drug rehab in 1993. i was about to lose my kids. i had to do something. they made me detox for 3 days prior in a hospital. it was a really good program. they helped anyone with drivers license problems, fines, court ****, etc. i was able to take nursing classes. they help ed me find a job, save money, and have a place to live so that i slowly re-entered the "normal" world.
Hi everyone. I was thinking of going thru drug rehab(outpatient) and possibly taking suboxone. I had a heart attack in February of 2014. I'm doing great now with 2 stents placed in my coronary arteries. 51 yrs. old. Just wondering if my heart condition would cause a doctor to not want to prescribe suboxone to me. Thanks.
But now iv turned a corner im dealing with my deamons head on and for a change im letting everything out its better to talk about it than keep it all inside to me keeping it all in was a recipe for failur just want to let ya all know i have never been happier and im enoying my family again it took 6 weeks rehab and tons of AFTERCARE Aftercare is a must as we cant do it alone.

you all know what i mean. I ended up in rehab because I couldnt take it anymore. I kept relapsing. Id make it to about day 4 and then I crack and get more pills and the cycle started over aagain. I did this for months before rehab. It was only 15 days that i was there. but Im home now, feeling like a new person and enjoying life, my family and just the world that i had isolated myself from. I have learned that there is NO PILL DRUG or SUBSTANCE that feels as good as this.
It's good to hear from you.I'm sorry you weren't able to find an in patient rehab but I'm glad to hear that you are feeling a bit more comfortable.I don't know anything about sub,but just wanted to offer my support.Hang in there,you can do this.All the best...
Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Just so wondering if anyone here has gone to rehab as a intensive out patient? I am headed there right now fir the first time and I'm pretty nervous. I'm 5 days clean of pain meds. I'm going to stay clean and better my future.
