Common Questions and Answers about Drug interactions ambien xanax

ambien

Avatar n tn Okay, I knew I probably should not have read about it but in reading about the new drug my doctor put me on digoxin I see where it interacts negatively with xanax. I am not a regular user of xanax but have some in case I can't sleep or am nervous flying, etc... Does anyone know if this will be a problem if I take small dosages of xanax say once or twice a week? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn There're few web sites that shows "drug interactions", and "drug/herb/food interactions" ...do a search online for words in " ",I am sure you'll find your answers.....if not, please feel free to message me and I'll send you a link.
Avatar m tn I was left with anxiety and insomnia from my prior treatment. I take 5mg Ambien and .05mg Xanax in the evenings to help me relax and sleep. I also suffer from chronic back pain and use .25mg of Oxycodone when needed. I also use a drug called Acyclovir 200mg daily to control herpes virus. My concern is that these drugs may effect the treatment with Sovaldi/Olysio. I want to beat this virus this time! My Dr.
Avatar f tn t cover Xanax at all and even denied an exception when my doctor tried. So he changed me to 10mg Ambien along with the 100mg Trazadone. No problems. Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it.
Avatar n tn If you can't ask your psychiatrist, you could find out about drug interactions from another internet site. It's about emotional illness and medicines that treat the brain, esp. about drug interactions. Don't get put off by the silly title. It's called "crazymeds" Written by a guy who has epilepsy, bi-polar, and 4 other conditions. He's a self-styled expert who put together objective info about psyco-tropic meds.
Avatar n tn I am in wk 22 and at least I can get some rest, Always ask your doc about specific treatments, drug interactions and dosing specific to YOU!
Avatar f tn I would ask around or research cos some doctors do not know anything about tapering off of benzos. Ambien is not a benzo so it is the xanax u need to taper off of. U did not state ur dose of either drug. A high dose of anything should be tapered in the sedative/anti-anxiety world but benzos for sure. There is an example of a benzo taper in an article in the health pages by a british Doctor who specializes in addiction.
Avatar n tn t venture to take sedatives and controlled substances without the supervision of a doctor. Besides, drug-drug interactions, we never know the metabolism status unless tests have been done to justify their prescription. So, Discuss the options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn ve gotten good feedback. I, myself, did run into some drug/ drug interactions. I had to research like crazy , not from Gilead, to find some plausible answers. IMHO, these (I'm on Harvoni wk 10) are powerful enough meds to eradicate tenacious hepatitis & there is ALWAYS synergistic effects when meds are combined. Eg.
Avatar f tn First, your friendly nurse should have recommended he see a psychiatrist to discuss any medication changes. These two drugs won't have adverse interactions, benzos are not only often but usually used with antidepressants. However, the dose will depend on the individual, and so will the drug. Prozac is one of the easier drugs to stop taking -- the one he's taking and the way he's taking it will make it possibly very hard to stop taking.
Avatar f tn As my stress levels have begun to decrease and with the recent media coverage of problems with Xanax addiction, I decided with my physician that it was time to try something different - He prescribed Ambien for sleep with 2.5 mg Xanax during the day for the first week. The first two nights after the switch, I quickly fell into a hard sleep with the Ambien but awakened after 4 hours feeling extremely jittery-not unexpected.
Avatar f tn Go back and read my journals about the ambien. It has become my mission in life to show people what could happen with that drug. I have even gone so far as write some of the magazines I subscribe to because they have so many ads for that drug in them. I have put my story out there for the world to see. If it can change one person's decision to use this drug then it is worth it.. Please email me, I would be glad to help.
Avatar m tn that this drug is highly addictive, very difficult to get rid off and with life threatening effects while withdrawing, like seizures.Believe me,Xanax was my drug of choice and was a nightmare to get rid of it.Nasty withdrawal symptoms, really unpleasant and some can last for months after discontinuing the Xanax.

Avatar m tn Hello Wunk, Hope this finds you well. I consulted the PDR (Physicians' Desk Reference), which is THE medication bible that physicians refer to with regard to medications. The PDR lists Zanaflex Interactions as: "May potentiate CNS depression with alcohol, baclofen, benzodiazepines, other CNS depressants." Because you are taking Xanax, which is a benzodiazepine (a CNS depressant), I would strongly recommend that you consult your physician for the answer to your question.

Avatar m tn not a good idea to give medical advice here///but if u ned an addictive drug like xanax for sleep with ambien on top of it...
Avatar m tn t sound like you have a problem with the meds,do you? Ambien is a pretty strong med (so is xanax/alprazolam) and both are addictive if used improperly so please talk to your doctor about how you are feeling physically after the ambien.
Avatar n tn OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!! what are you doing!? don't ever mix ambien with Lorazepam, xanax, zoloft or any of the likes! There are interactions between these drugs Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.
266195 tn?1215310411 It is very common to be prescribed a benzo like Xanax along with an SSRI. While there are some interactions, remember that most interactions occur with many medications. It is especially common to use a benzo while you are starting an SSRI and then start to taper off as the SSRI 'kicks in.' I agree with the people here; just express your concerns with your doctor and another great resource is your pharmacist who fills your prescriptions.
