She is at the point that she wants to go to ER's to try to get the IV, What recommendations are there on how to break the cycle. We are a one car, one income family (me) and don't have the funds or time to enter her into rehab. What other options are there? If any.
Avatar f tn i agree you need to go to rehab....it wll help you in court. but, more than that you can come out of rehab clean and continue to stay that way. there is great support here but i agree na meetings are good too. good luck and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn there are many that have overcome addiction to this drug. There are cheaper options, like cold turkey, where he stops at once, or tapering, where he cuts down on his dose gradually. He should come to the forum for sure!!! No judging, just wonderful people looking to each other for support and getting it!!
1113973 tn?1258663021 Quality rehab facilities that are completely free are few and far between. Many have payment plans or will work with you with payments. Your best bet is to flip through the yellow pages, find the first rehab, and call them. Tell them what you need and ask for help. If they can't help, ask for a referral. Rehab centers know about each others terms and programs for miles. They are your best source of info. Outpatient rehab isn't nearly as pricey as inpatient programs.
Avatar n tn i voluntarily put myself into an 18 month drug rehab in 1993. i was about to lose my kids. i had to do something. they made me detox for 3 days prior in a hospital. it was a really good program. they helped anyone with drivers license problems, fines, court ****, etc. i was able to take nursing classes. they help ed me find a job, save money, and have a place to live so that i slowly re-entered the "normal" world.
Avatar n tn You should consult your doctor to seek appropriate professional treatment if you want to discontinue Ambien. You should not attempt to stop taking them on your own. Several Drug rehab programs are available, which are multi-phasic approach to undergo medically supervised detoxification along with counseling (cognitive-behavioral therapy) in an in-patient or out-patient setting to help overcome addiction to Ambien.
Avatar f tn I'm so glad for you that you are feeling the empowerment that one does when they educate themselves about the disease of addiction. It might be very helpful for you to look into Alanon, online or in person in meetings near to you. You could instead go to NarAnon, the same family group for those living with an addict. It could really help you to talk about the daily events that occur when your boyfriend get's out of rehab.
Avatar f tn My husband has already been evaluated for occupational rehab and passed all the tests with flying colors. What we were looking into is an in patient drug and alcohol rehab.
Avatar f tn only to substitute with another. is one better than the other? addiction is addiction...regardless of what your drug of choice is. because of meth...my son made MANY bad choices for his life. because of those choices...my son had unprotected sex. because of those choices...my son now has hiv. he no longer has that choice. i hope that you are at least still reading on the forum...and i hope that you understand that YOU still have a choice...it's called sobriety.
Avatar n tn We, my sister and I cannot go on any longer watching him kill himself, is there any type of lock down rehab that we can have him committed to? He claims that the withdrawals are far too unbearable to go on living. If there is any information that anyone can offer us about any state funded programs in or around new mexico we would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar f tn My mom has a serious pill addiction, for about 30 years now. We talked to her finally a little, and then she decided to stop cold turkey. We had to put her in a hospital for her safety to do safe detox. now she NEEDS to go to rehab, the doctors even think so. But we can't get ehr to budge. She says she will never take another pill again, that she's cured and all fine after a one week detox. How can we convince her she isn't better?
Avatar f tn There are family programs that are offered by most outpatient rehab programs or 12 step programs like Al-anon or Nar-anon. You can find them in your area just by Googleing the name. They will help you deal with your feelings about you husband's addiction and connect with other loved ones that have experience with your exact situation. I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn because they often treat drug withdrawals as all the same. They are most certainly not. The treatment protocols for, say, an opiate addiction are completely different than for a benzo. Some rehab facilities claim that you may be rapidly withdrawn from these drugs, and you can, with the help of phenobarbitol to control seizures. But the problem is once you leave the rehab facility, as the process of healing from an overly rapid withdrawal from benzos can be a difficult and lengthy one.
Avatar n tn Now a little about the physiological aspect of the drug and addiction. If you have addictive tendencies or are compulsive, there is an equally important aspect to the support for the addiction if you want to successfully live clean and sober. Either of the 12 step programs (NA or AA) will offer you the support you need to help overcome the reasons you were taking the drugs (or could not stop taking the drugs) in the first place.
Avatar m tn If it does not fit for you thats ok. Maybe an addiction therapist that is very knowledgeable in drug addiction .Look in your area for rehabs. Many have outpatient care programs . Smart recovery SMART offers free face-to-face mutual help groups.
Avatar n tn CmpId=173 RECKITT BENCKISER Patient Assistance Program Patient assistance programs (PAPs) are programs created by drug companies, such as RECKITT BENCKISER, to offer free or low cost drugs to individuals who are unable to pay for their medication. Avatar n tn Has anyone every been to rehab for drug addiction? If so...I would like to chat with you about my nephew who had to be taken to rehab after an overdose of Xanax.
Avatar n tn The reason I ask is if she does you can ask the court to stipulate her to a drug rehab and they usually do. There are also intensive outpatient programs. Please keep the faith. I would suggest getting her into counseling so she can start to work through her issues. I will pray for you because I know living with someone who you love that is an addict is extremely difficult so much emotion and heartache. But there can be healing and they can live a clean life. Please believe.there is hope.
Avatar m tn I'm 52 year old man since four to five year I take Ativan and now I addict this drug,my daily dosage 150mg.per day basic, but till this drug not work,I leave this bad habit,I lost my future needs please help me.
522370 tn?1212430485 As an ex Heroin addict myself, i know how hard it is to kick this drug (just as any other drug) and i wish him strength also!! Keep us updated.
Avatar m tn m not certain where you live but in your situation I would recommend an inpatient detox and rehab program. The reason is you show high enthusiasm and readiness to address your addiction head on and because it is placing stress on your family, an inpatient program can provide you a safe environment in which to detox, learn new coping strategies and get established with aftercare. The inpatient programs are highly recommended for people with minimal suppot.
Avatar m tn I am trying to find advice about my 17 year old brother who is addicted to Oxycotin. He agreed to enter a rehab facility but once they realized his "level of use" they sent us to the emergency room where he was admitted for detox. The plan was to have him detox and then get him entered into the rehab facility. He has been at the hospital for 5 days now and is completely freaking out saying he needs to leave. There seems to be no place to send a kid to receive detox and rehab help.
Avatar m tn I have been struggling with drug addiction for 10+ years. I was severly addicted to opiate pain meds (oxys, percs etc) and heroin. I went to a treatment program my third one this time voluntarily and did quit using those things but began the use of tramadol. I didn't think anything of tramadol at the time but now I realize how serious it really is. It's like a heroin w/d...terrible!
Avatar m tn I have a son in jail for drug addiction and we are going to court on monday, his girlfriend which is also addicted, and him tried to kill us just before christmas and both of them were arrested, my son was kept in jail for he did not comply with his parole rules, girlfriend was released, their 5 year old daughter Kelly was placed in our care and we are now trying to get custody of her until both of them are clean and has sorted their lives out.
Avatar n tn t either before, but do now. Addiction *****, but we can break this cycle. There is help out there and rehab is not the only option. Have you ever thought about trying N/A or any other aftercare to stay clean. I think the fact you have told people and admitted your problem is a HUGE step and should be very proud of yourself for that. Keeping it a secret keeps us sick. Stick around this is a great support group. Look in the top right of this page.
