Avatar f tn BUT, ur in the right spot for help. everyone on here has sooooo many personal stories...ways they coped with the withdrawwls....things of that sort. does he want to quit cold turkey? or is he interested in a suboxone plan?
Avatar m tn s out there that are aware of the issues related to this drug and know full-well of its addiction potential. Especially for people who have had addiction issues in the past. Yes, we're all different, but that's why this forum exists. You can come here and learn from others about their experiences with a medication and go from there. And I do agree, talk to the Dr. and share those concerns and together, the two of you can figure out what is the best plan for YOU.
Avatar f tn There’s plenty of stories on this site about meconium so I’m just asking for stories on umbilical cord
Avatar f tn Is getting off suboxone hard to do. I hear different stories from different people. I guess im scared of the unknown.. any advice?? what happens if im in so much pain, i end up cheating or relapsing? i wouldnt call it a relapse because i wont do it all the time. But tell me??
15290316 tn?1447023108 m hoping everyone would chime in and offer their personal stories - From the mods, to the long-termers to the newbies! There have been some interesting points made about addiction, psuedo-addiction, and dependency. In your opinion, do you believe you are an addict, a person who has traits of a pseudo-addict, or are you physically dependent and why? What was the moment that defined your reason for being here? Thanks everyone!
Avatar m tn I am a very curious student about addiction, so if my questions are inapropriate or out of place in this forum by all means say so and i will stop. I have just grown up around addicts and seen how they can be (how ever by no means the worst they can be). This is purely curiosity but do any of you have any rehab stories? any great doctors, bad doctors, and why?
983679 tn?1276833336 Heroin addiction is tough, but a life in drug recovery is a life full of hope and promise, and is surely better than a life of continuing addiction with methadone.
Avatar f tn im pretty sure not one person who deals with addiction asked to become addicted to there drug of choice.
Avatar f tn Thank you, I have 12 pills left, I guess I will take one 50 mg for the remaining days, I alsovhave xanax, for anxiety which I only take at bedtime, I need to stop reading all of the stories about this awlful drug..
Avatar f tn I think you want to know more about the drug you are abusing. Percocet is one of the brand names of the drug oxycodone when it is combined with acetaminophen. Oxycodone is semi-synthetic and was created in the mid 20th century to improve upon other opioids such as morphine or codeine. Although the chemical composition of oxycodone is almost identical to heroin, oxycodone abuse often lacks the strong taboos and negative reputation of heroin.
Avatar m tn Addiction is categorzied by maladaptive behavior that is typically out of character for the person, including doing things that are harmful, without any regard for the consequences, in order to get the drug. Addiction includes mental cravings for the meds, where dependency is almost always just physical in nature. It's important for you to determine which category you would fit into, if indeed this is even a concern for you.
Avatar n tn It was given out like aspirin. It is very unfortunate that it became a schedule one drug, with the drug enforcement administration tracking down phjysicians who prescribe it. Valium does degrade situational awareness as well as intellectual acuity, and may interfere with driving safety, although that is more of a problem for the first time user. I have used it (prescribed by a physician) rarely, when under extreme stress, and then only for a day or two, and never became addicted.
463897 tn?1468013750 Substance Abuse discussions, we look forward to your continued posts on this community.
Avatar m tn ve used methadone recreationally for several years. At my worst I was taking about 40mgs/day. I can admit that taking a drug like methadone that allows one to function somewhat normally was appealing enough for me to justify taking it. The bottom line... I am a recovering addict. About a year ago I had to go without taking a single methadone, that was my 40mg/day habit, for 12 days until my source could provide more. My withdrawals were horrible.
7826278 tn?1395397380 It has really been amazing in removing the physical symptoms I was experiencing BUT, I jumped on line today to see about how typical weaning goes for Saboxone and am now completely freaked out. I have read at least 50 peoples personal stories (or should I say nightmares) about trying to get off of Saboxone; almost every one of them saying that the withdrawals were way harder than the initial opiate that they started with.
Avatar f tn hey there. get the book the alcoholism and addiction cure by chris prentiss. it helps family to understand every aspect of addiction. also, you yourself should write some journal entries when you are in withdrawal and your own personal feelings during these horrible excruciating times and keep them to read back on in case you get a craving. let your family read these personal accounts, it will open their eyes.
Avatar f tn m sure the chances of there being many other similar scenarios are very close to none, but I am quite desperate to hear REAL life stories from REAL women and not just some article written years from now. here's my predicament... I'm 21 and undergoing my first pregnancy with the most amazing man/father I could have ever asked for. But sadly I have also been battling a heroin addiction since I was 18 which lead to an addiction to Meth for the past year as well...
Avatar f tn Alcoholism and drug addiction are often referred to as “substance abuse” or “chemical dependency.” Alcoholics and nonalcoholics are, therefore, sometimes introduced to A.A. and encouraged to attend A.A. meetings. Anyone may attend open A.A. meetings. But only those with a drinking problem may attend closed meetings or become A.A. members. People with problems other than alcoholism are eligible for A.A. membership only if they have a drinking problem.

Avatar n tn That is a scientist and works on clinical trials, She was working for a MAJOR drug company, and was fired for her findings on a drug that was having side effects. This drug was put in production, and now there are news stories of heart attacks and they are being sued. This was known WAY ahead of time. This is the 3rd time she has been fired for telling what she found. She is suing another major drug company for wrongful termination, and they are trying to settle. . It is very scary.
