diabetes

999074 tn?1249887136 I used to get the same thing only my feet, ankles and sometime calves get heavy and puffy too. The sock dents would take a few hours to smooth out. I switched to socks for diabetics. They're so comfortable and the elastic part around the top doesn't squeeze so tightly but the socks stay up pretty well. I'm trying to remember who makes them. Possibly Dr. Scholls. I just know where to find them in the sock section. I've only seen black and white though.
Avatar n tn Besides softening agents (creams and lotions), if the skin is cracked and hard, it is no longer living tissue but simply callus tissue. That can be scraped off by one of the tools available at a drugstore for that purpose. There's a good one made by the Dr. Scholls people, looks like a rasp and is made of surgical stainless steel with a plastic handle. (There is even that "Ped Egg" thing that is sometimes advertised on TV.) The Dr. Scholls one works great.
Avatar n tn I have had diabetes for 7 years and recently worked with the diabetes educator at one of my local hospitals as a high school intern. We did a lot of teaching about diabetic socks. Diabetic socks are not a scam. People with diabetes are supposed to wear cotton socks so that the socks breathe. Also diabetic socks are supposed to help with keeping good circulation to the feet. Since people with diabetes need to take extra care of their feet.
Avatar n tn No matter what shoes I wear either, makes no difference between the strappy sandels or the Dr Scholls with built in gel cushions. I have a slightly enlarged heart and am taking meds for that but nothing with any side affects like this. Does anyone have any Ideas about what this could be?
Avatar f tn m on my feet for at least eight hours a day. The blisters are very big and uncomfortable, I bought Dr Scholls blister treatment but it doesn't seem to be helping, thank you for your advice I am going to give it a try. Could these blisters get infected, someone suggested I use antibacterial cream but I can't find it anywhere.
1897455 tn?1321396647 Have you tried compression garments? Diabetic socks? I use both and they help with the pain...I think the best are the socks though. The stockings or regular compression socks might be too tight. I use the Jobst sensifoot diabetic socks....I used to buy them from the medical supply store but they were expensive. I then switched to the walmart brand...they are ok if you are on a budget but found the best quality to be Jobst brand...I found a place online that sell them at the best price. www.
Avatar n tn I have bought socks from the Diabetic Sock Store, I think its called Therawear now, but the socks have been wonderful! I tried the Smartknit Seamless Diabetic sock, and they were really seamless. Some socks claim to be, but aren't. These socks have saved my feet, I have neuropathy. If anyone is interested the website is http://www.therawear.com/diabetic_seamless_socks.html I highly recommend these socks to anyone that needs diabetic socks.
Avatar m tn he cant use socks for long for this as also because of the edema the socks give him, very bad marks which produce in more itching. I tried many compression socks brands, for diabetic, several material. But since he is swollen they dont even go up, or they produce itching, Any recommendations of brands? , We just have to keep trying :) Thanks!
Avatar f tn If you have a pair of shoes you like, maybe try getting some inserts first (at the shoe store, not the dr. Scholls kind). That might be enough to help with feet fatigue. I can pretty much only wear new balance shoes with inserts because I have wide flat feet. They don't look the coolest, but they are comfy. I really like the 1012 running shoe that I most recently bought, but they were pretty expensive (and let's not kid any one, I don't run in them!
Avatar n tn Moleskin or there are also little discs made by Dr Scholls that would do nicely as well.
Avatar f tn I just wondering. My husband has diabetes and had the sensory test done, but that showed to be fine. His feet and calves have (as he explains it) shocking feelings in his feet. He says its like jolts of electricity running through his legs. They hurt so bad he is unable to ware socks or shoes, I can't even touch them to rub them for him. The symptoms he has fits that of Diabetic Neuropathy, so I just wondering if the EMG would be able to see if he does have nerve damage from the diabetes.
Avatar m tn Thank you very much for the tip I'll definitely check out Dr. scholls brand for I don't have insurance. I use to shave my pubic area, but now I'm afraid. If I don't see any warts do you think it's okay to go back shaving? I use to "nick" the wart so does the blood from the wart spread the virus?
Avatar f tn If you do not have diabetic socks aces bandages not too tight will also work. walking will help the most walking and more walking along with the hot baths with Epsom Salts. The salts force magnesium into the muscles helping them to relax also Bananas are good for the potassium. Avatar f tn Hello, As your husband is a diabetic and moreover there is a soft sore on the foot,so the possibility of diabetic foot is there. Diabetic foot is an umbrella term for foot problems in patients with diabetes mellitus. To prevent diabetic foot ulcers,he should have good foot hygiene, wear diabetic socks and shoes, and avoid injury.A consultation of a podiatrist will be the best. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your husband is doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar f tn //www.medscape.com/viewarticle/846334. It does state that wearing the compression socks is often recommended and safe. However, again, please do consult with your own physician. Best of health to you.
Avatar m tn I had two small warts on my shaft and burnt the suckers for 15ish seconds with the dr scholls freeze away.. Its been 4 days now and I don't see much improvement.. There's a little black dot next to one of them.. but for the most part they dont really look like their dead. How long does does it usually take for these things to go away after treatment?? Dave1238 have you seen anything change? -or should i just go to my dermatologist?
Avatar n tn Never thought of mentoniung this, I am a type 2 diabetic, I do take meds for Hypertention, Diabetis (oral), Cholesterol as well, I do take HTZ for fluid retention...

Avatar f tn T WORK EITHER I HAVE A DR SCHOLLS SEAT CUSHION THAT MASSAGES MY BACK BUT THAT DOES NOT WORK EITHER I HAVE TO TOUGH IT OUT FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS
Avatar m tn Is there any treatment for idiopathic sensory peripherial neuropathy?(non diabetic) Is there any known cause?
Avatar m tn I had a minor outbreak after 7years of my initial diagnosis about 2months ago. During that time I purchased Dr Scholls Freeze Away to get this white looking swollen follicle maybe bump on the bottom of my scrotum among other tiny skin tags. Well this was about 6 weeks ago I tried to get this white thing. Now, my wife took an STD test last week and it came back positive for HSV II at 2.7 igg.
Avatar n tn After which I let it go for another week and finally purchased Dr Scholls corn remover then a larger callus/corn remover and salicylic acid, purchased from Walmart. The first week I applied the small corn remover for about a week and seen no real improvements. Just that the skin was starting to dry up a little.
8924846 tn?1410572901 After trial and error i found that dr scholls compression socks along with gel insoles help my feet i soak them in epsom salt when i get home. A good pair of shoes is well worth the investment. I also have streched the stomach part of one of my compression tank tops and i dont get ome bit of back pain.! Maybe some of these will help you too everyones different though.! Good luck.
Avatar n tn You can try some over the counter wart removers but they can take weeks if they even work. I have tried the Dr. Scholls freeze away, and the band aids that are supposed to remove them, I have even gone as far as trying to dig them out but they always come back. I think I am finally going to have to go to the doctor to get them removed.
