I was infected with std and my dotor gave me 1 vial of penicillin injection and 10 days of antibiotic doxycycline the discarge was gone but afterseveral weeks i atarted to feel itching all over my body sometimes there's a rash or but not specifically on my palm or feet. the itch came from random area of my body head, face, hands, legs, chest and etc. please help me on what do i need to do to resolve this thank you!

Hi there. So I recently finished being treated for Syphilis with 28 days on Doxycycline. By the time I got tested for a penicillin allergy the 28 days was over and my doctor said wait 6 months and get checked. My concern is I could have possibly had this for a maximum of 2.5 years. I foolishly had only gotten HIV tests assuming Syphilis would show immediate and obvious symptoms. My question is what kind of "damage" could this have caused to my body.
According to U.S.D.A. apparently yes, there are traces of antibiotics in the flesh and eggs from poultry. Their studies show no observable effect ( no acute effect for allergies and no chronic effects for cancer and other diseases)

January 25th I was diagnosed and treated for syphilis. I was under the impression that I was allergic to penicillin so I was treated with doxycycline for 28 because of my high titer 1:256 During that time I drank atleast 3 times a week because of depressed I was with this. I also threw up a few times. April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks.
However penicillin allergy itself is very dangerous. Even if it causes mild reaction at the first dose, subsequent doses’ cumulative anaphylaxis is itself life threatening. Today there are many alternatives to penicillin.

I've been on penicillin for a week for a toothache and my pvc's are worse than they've ever been..I called the Dr to request doxycycline as I've taken it before with no issues, but does it work for a tooth Infection? I also have mitral valve prolapse..

I just worry that taking the doxycycline is all for nothing. And the doxycycline is killing me, I have such bad stomach aches with it, I almost went to the ER last night. I don't have a lot of symptoms of Lyme disease and can't even remember the last time I was outside to even get bit since I work everyday and by the time I get home, there's no time to do anything.
If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate them.

You don't say anything about your partner or where you are, which would help assess the chance you were exposed to syphilis. However, even if he or she had known infectious syphilis, you can still be confident you don't have it. Even if you were exposed and syphilis had started to take hold, the infection it would have been prevented or aborted by doxycycline (Vibramycin).
I had a syphilis diagnosis Feb 14...wasn't really sure what stage it was in, but the titer came back at 1:16. Before I actually knew I had syphilis I thought it was a sore throat, so I took a Z-pak and when I was retested a week later the result was 1:1 nonreactive. The nurse was saying that was odd. I had two rounds of Pen G injections for two weeks. Abstained from sex...same partner, he was tested and came back negative of all stds.
Yeas ago, my son (3 years at the time, 33 years ago) was sick with a bad cold. The doctor put him on a penicillin type antiobiotic. The next day he developed a rash, so the doctor thinking that it was an allergic reaction, changed his drug to erythromycin.
The next morning, my son had lots of redness and swollen eyes. I rushed him to another doctor who immediately gave him a shot of a penicillin derivative and put him back on the penicillin type drug.
Then the same pattern happens with other antibiotics that she has to take for a UTI etc., so that now she can only take one antibiotic that has not yet caused her to get urticaria. But the doctors are running out of antibiotics to give her for bronchitis etc. etc. Why is this? What can be done to prevent it? This same person has been a few times over the years for allergy skin tests and they tell her that she is only mildly allergic to this or that.

I looked into it and the second line antibiotic for syphilis is doxycycline for those allergic to penicillin. So, that's a relief.
He has started treatment with doxycycline and azithromycin. A day after starting treatment a few red spots appeared under the skin on his hands (both hands, 3/4 sports clustered together). The skin is not broken, the spots are under the skin. They have also started to fade away after a day. We asume these are a syphilis rash.
Since the skin is not broken, are these red spots contagious? Can I get syphilis from shaking his hand? What about from hugging him?
Should i change to azithromycin and stop the doxycycline regime, or just stay with doxycycline? Which is the right choice of drug ? By the way , the first doctor also suggested taking doxycycline & at the same time getting treated with penicillin injection daily for 1 week, will this be effective or too much at once?
I am mortified to say this but I was diagnosed with syphilis and started doxycycline yesterday (2-15-13). I have 2 sores on my lip, sort of inside.
How long will it take to go away? Is there anything I can put on them? Should I be washing them or something? And (ewww) this stuff is coming off like a yellowish semi-crusty discharge.
