Hi. I would like to ask if the use of Doxycycline would interfere with STD testing if testing is done immediately after completing a treatment or even during a treatment. If it does interfere with STD testing, how long do I have to wait before going for testing (HIV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia). Thank you.
How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
m not sure did condoms have holes，For some reason I took doxycycline（Vibramycin） for a week 8 days after having sex，Is it possible for me to get syphilis? Hi we dont diagnose here but what your describing would not indicate a syphilis sore as they are painless raised bumps. And please dont self medicate.
Syphilis would respond to doxycycline but not the others. However, it is very rare in the U.S., and lesions usually appear on the shaft, not the pubic area.
If it were syphilis, you may not necessarily have received a curative dose of doxycycline, so you might want to get a blood test to be sure that you don't have it. But as I said, I doubt if what you have described were syphilis lesions.
He risk if syphilis is infinitesimal. If you choose to take doxycycline, it would prevent syphilis but, as I said, you really do not need it. Deal with your guilt, don't waste your time worrying about things like syphilis.
Would taking doxycycline (100mg 2x a day for 14 days) prevent a possible syphilis infection? I started taking the doxycycline 2 days after I had unprotected sex with a female bartender. I also took 2g Azithromycin and 400mg cefixime12 hours after the encounter. Then after I completed 14 days of doxycycline, I took a course of the cefixime (400mg daily for 10 days).

The 2 week recommendation for syphilis treatment with doxycycline is intentional overkill -- based on the assumption that many patients won't complete the full course of treatment. A week probably is plenty -- especially in aborting syphilis before the infection really takes hold.
The penile lesion you had almost certainly was not syphilis.
As I already implied, I do not recommend any more testing.

I'm a 29 yo gay man in an exclusive relationship. Yesterday I made a mistake and I french-kissed another gay male. From what I understood - kissing carries no risk for chlamydia, gonorrhea, hiv contraction. I'm freaking out that I could have caught syphilis (i havent seen any obvious sores/lessions, however I obviously have not examined his throat thoroughly).
Should I take a preventive dose of an antibiotic? If yes - which one and what dose?
How long does it take for a person on Doxycycline treatment (100 mg 2x day, for 14 days) for Secondary Syphilis (with rash but without visible ulcers) to stop being infectious?
Namely, would I have been potentially infectious to someone 5 full days into the Doxy treatment?

I looked into it and the second line antibiotic for syphilis is doxycycline for those allergic to penicillin. So, that's a relief.
January 25th I was diagnosed and treated for syphilis. I was under the impression that I was allergic to penicillin so I was treated with doxycycline for 28 because of my high titer 1:256 During that time I drank atleast 3 times a week because of depressed I was with this. I also threw up a few times. April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks.
I was on doxycycline antibiotic for a week for something else and then i waited one week after coming off doxy before i tested for syphilis with the RPR syphilis test. The test came out negative. My question is the following:
After being on doxycycline for one week, then testing for syphilis one week later (after being off the doxy for a week), is this test a false negative or can I trust the test? I've had headaches and peripheral neuropathy everyday for the last 3 weeks.

The rash wouldn't start as a small spot. It may appear on the hands or feet first, but typically appears on the trunk or other parts of the body, too. The rash usually clears, with or without treatment, within 2-6 weeks. The rash usually appears at about 6 weeks, but the range is 3 weeks to 6 months.
Is there a reason you are taking doxy and didn't get the penicillin shots? Are you self-treating?
