Avatar f tn for episcleritis I have been told to give 1% eye drops of Prenisolone 3x/da and pills, 100 mg 2x/day doxycycline and Nicotinamide, 500 mg 2x/day this is for a dog but I question the long term use of doxycycline because of compromise of bacteria in digestive tract causing diarhea. Guidance please? Thanks!
Avatar m tn The most important treatment is lid hygiene. Cephalexin probably will not help. The steroid in Tobradex may help short term, but this is not a long-term solution. Oracea is a slow release form of Doxy type drug and has less side effects. However, many insurances will not cover it. Topical Azasite if very effective. Dr. O.

Build a good immunity, eat right, clean and healthy. And I think it is better to resort to natural products for relief. And mostly with time the conditions improve with age. It is best to stop after you have completed your dose for the time prescribed by an expert.

I agree with the sinus imaging, and I would treat any facial or sinus infection with appropriate antibiotics. I also agree with the thyroid and vitamin B12 testing, along with the tests for the various viruses. If you are male, couldn't tell by your story, I would also add on a testosterone level.

Avatar f tn Have been religiously taking the antibiotics. Have no symptoms. Caught it very early, it would seem. So, all I want to know is how long do I have to keep taking the antibiotics? And when can I kiss my partner again? No body, including doctors seem to be able to give me a straight answer. No sex and three months of antibiotics has been mentioned by one doctor, another said it will all be over in a couple of weeks. Any clue?
Avatar f tn In my opinion and to my knowledge, there should not be any long-term effects in regards to pregnancy as long as your Lyme is treated appropriately and you no longer have it when treatment is discontinued.
Avatar f tn I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?

Avatar m tn normal chest x ray, diagnosed with non gonococcal urethritis,was tried with ofloxacine, azithromycine , doxycycline (2wk), one after another. but with out any help. after that I stopped asking for any antibiotic s further. for next 4 months it was low grade urethritis and occasional testicular pain. 3 months back i had right knee joint pain, that was mild but it is going on since then and even mildly increased.

I haven't taken either of the above, but I know that warnings of permanent side effects from antibiotics and parasitic medications aren't always made well known, so I thought the post was extremely helpful to any of those suggested to take these meds. I, myself, have been experiencing horrible muscle spasms since my 2 day stint with Biaxin.

The official dogma that Lyme is always cured with 3 weeks of Doxy is highly controversial with legions of patients claiming they weren't cured. Pay cash for a LLMD if you have to. It's worth it!
