My husband and I have dealt with nearly 20 MRSA infections in the past two years. He was in the hospital and had a fifth of his lung removed at one point. He just went to a new doctor, and this one gave him Doxycycline and Prednisone. (Antibiotic and Steroids.) Since steroids suppress immune system functions, I think that's completely backwards. They were prescribed for the MRSA. Have you ever heard of sterioids prescribed to help with MRSA treatment?
This all started in September of 2014. I had a horrible, horrible ear infection. One of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life. I went to the er and was prescribed zpac. Since then I've had one at least every other month. I've been on several different antibiotics. None of these ear infections were that bad or painful but still there. I had tubes placed in March of 2016 which did nothing. Fast forward to New years eve and I had another one.
Two weeks later a large infected rash appeared. I got myself tested for Lyme and it came out negative. I was given a day of Doxycycline and then it was changed to Amoxicillan. I took it for two weeks. The doctor told me to stop the medication and get retested. Two weeks later, I got my positive results. I had, at this point, two weeks on, two weeks off the antibiotics. When I returned to the doctor with positive results, he put me back on Doxycycline for another two weeks.
I'm a 58 y/o female who had a left total knee replacement 15 months ago with a subsequent MRSA sepsis. I underwent a second surgery where the left knee was debrided and the plastic part of the joint replacement was changed. I was treated with 8 weeks of IV Vanco and oral Rifampin. Now I have continual pain in my left buttock with "sores" only on the left side only. I continue with pain in the left buttock muscle, as well as most of my other joints.
I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?
Ok. I have been on and off antibiotics for mrsa for the last 2 months. Mostly Bactrim. Problem is the mrsa keeps returning. I have had 2 negative nare and armpit swaps. But they say it's still mrsa and the infection keeps coming back. Anyways. I continue decolonization and abx treatment. But I started to notice my stools getting loose. Then today I went to have the runs and all that came out was a little mucous and blood. Blood was bright red. No stool. Worried about c diff.
I was treated twice with Doxycycline (2 mos.) for the Lymes but the treatment did not work and the doctors suspected that I may not have Lupus but had Lymes the entire time. In July 2009, a year later, I was tested and the IGM Lymes test was again positive. The neurologist confirmed I have Lymes Disease but told me that it should have showed up on the IGG test and not the IGM test because of the length of time I have had Lymes. Now I have numerous questions.

to think but I feel like I have HIV because of the MRSA , my left leg had begun to cramp up in the morning and have a nagging feeling like I worked it out but I don't move around that much during the day.

I was diagnosed with HS about two years ago. It started as a few small pimples on my thighs and then under my armpits that eventually turned into nasty, inflamed, infected boils. This went on and off for a few months. My dermatologist injected corisone directly into the boils/bumps and put me on doxycycline, then oracea for about six months total.
Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
I have not heard of Primacine for the treatment of MRSA, usually antibiotics such as Clindamycin(oral), Cephalexin(oral), Vancomycin(IV) there’s some other IV antibiotics besides Vanco that can be given Vanco is just the most common with the highest success rate. I must add washing with hot water is good however you can wash with not so hot water and always add liquid bleach. Keep a spray bottle of equal parts bleach/H2O to use on surfaces.
I was given a shot of Ceftriaxone and a course of Doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 10 days. The symptoms I had were a burning sensation whilst urinating and a constant white/yellow discharge. The doctor I saw at the sexual health clinic has worried me somewhat since she said that the condition is becoming harder to treat due to resistant strains of the infection.
Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.

m allergic to Penicillin and Sulfa, I just finished taking Doxycycline for a week and feel better. Thanks for the information.
