Dear doctor; I did a HSG this week.It was bilaterl distally blocked tubes & the doctor had to push in double the dye till it reached the peritoneal cavity.I started doxycycline directly after the test.At night I had feeling of distention along with severe muscle spasms all over my abdomen espically under my ribs. The following day I had vomiting with fever of 38.2 c.It subsided the same day with antibiotics & antipyretics.Do think it could be peritoneal irritation from the dye?
He also scheduled me for my HSG, which I went for this morning. Some family told me to expect slight cramping, like during a menstrual period but what I experienced was a lot more. It wasn't unbareable but it did hurt. My husband actually got weak from seeing me in pain! AWWWW! :) The doctor told me my uterus looks fine and my left tube is completely clear but my right tube is questionable.
so i want to ask is it ok not to check for infections first and then to do hsg test (because my doc said its ok we can do the check for bacteria later after hsg) or to get checked if am clear from infections and do hsg or its okey just to do it and other question is what pill i can take in order not to feel the pain of hsg before i do it. please help am so concerned.
Hello! I am scheduled for an hsg test 3-4 days before ovulation (I use ovulation tests). I was prescribed to take Doxycycline (as a preventive measure) 2 days before the test and 3 days after the test. In case the test result is fine, do you think it will be ok to TTC this month? How long does it take for a Antibiotic to be eliminated from the body? (I usually don't take any medication while ttc). How quickly after hsg can we ttc? I appreciate you answer. Thank you in advance!
Hi, Im going for HSG test today, I have read some the earlier posts and I found them to be helpful but my concern is, my MD prescribed an antibiotic called "Doxycycline" said it was to prevent an infection. I didnt see anyone mention that, only some anti crampings meds. Any advise will be very much appreciated.
For those of you who have had an HSG-did you ttc the same month? I had an HSG yeterday (day 9 of my cycle), can I still ttc this month? Nurse Practioner said I could as long as there is no bleeding (there isn't). However, the bigger concern is the antibiotics (Doxycycline) I am on for the next 8 days. The bottle says not to take if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, but the nurse practioner said they prescribe it for HSG patients all the time.
Thank you so much for asking this question. I am going for an HSG tomorrow and really didn't know what to expect. Hope it's not too bad.
I had my second HSG two weeks before I was scheduled for another round of injections for fertility and was concerned about the ability to conceive so quickly afterward (due to the high cost of the fertility meds). My dr assured me that it is possible to conceive after a HSG. I definitely recommend the procedure just to make sure that the tubes are actually open.
Hi I had a HSG performed yesterday and was given a course of Doxycycline antibiotics for 7 days. I was also given a suppository to take in the rectum. I have thrown out the packaging for this in error and wandered if anybody else has had to take this and if so do they remember what it was called ?
If your doctor wants to do and HSG, they usually will treat you with a long course of antibiotics like Doxycycline 100mg 2x/day for 7 to 10 days. If you get recurrent yeast infections then you may get another yeast infection if you are placed on antibiotics.
I was prescribed doxycycline to prevent infection. I took it for 3 1/2 days and I felt like complete crap everyday and last night was the worst. I was so neasous and felt horrible. it gave me really really bad anxiety. I almost took myself to the ER ( hubby was drunk sleeping, lol) but I was able to calm myself and get thru the worst before I fell asleep. So now I'm not taking it anymore! My sister also has a hard time with "cycline" antibiotics! NO MAS!
If you were my patient, I would give you a prescription too for 5 days of Doxycycline. IF your cycles are irregular, you will probably benefit from Clomid. If you have a clockwork 28 day cycle, the Clomid might not help, and could actually hurt. One way to decide whether to take Clomid or not would be to check a progesterone level on cycle day 21--if your level is good, you probably don't need Clomid.
My instructions for the 12 days following transfer. Bed rest two days following transfer on back with feet up. No bending at the waste - no vacuuming, no sexual activity, strenuous exercise (raising heart rate), and lifting anything heavier than 15lbs.
I didn't even get to the stage of a ultrasound to check my follicles, I don't think they though it was worth it. On Wednesday I am going for my hsg and the doctor has prescribed me valium to take 30mins before the procedure, doxycycline to take 2 hors before hand and also a voltaren suppositary to take 2 hours before hand.
Plz help me to understand it. What are my chances with IVF? My age is 28 and will be 29 in August. I am going for HSG next monday and Vaginal ultasound is scheduled on 29. I will keep updateing my test result. I think the only one thing will left is my husband SA. But he is not ready yet.
i got pregnant using clomid for recurrent miscarriage on the first round last august. ended in miscarriage though. good luck to you.
boyjoy777- I am excited to start the lurpon. I still have several days until stimming, but at least I get to start something... tmw. DH & I also start Doxycycline (antibiotic). He is not looking for to that. fairyzduzt- It seems like you are just behind me. ER for me is around 6/25. ET is 7/1. Are you trying a new protocol this time around?
We were set to do that this cycle until my HSG revealed that multiples would not be a good option for me. There is that risk with iui (well, a risk for me may be a blessing for you!) Let us know if you decide to try it :) naf: I didn't see the news, but it's so true. How is this person getting pregnant when we're all struggling?! It does show how advanced medicine has become! Now I have a question...
so although everyone is different, the symptoms started rather early for me. We'll cross our fingers for you and hopefully you'll have some good news in a week or so!
I also have to start taking our doxycycline today (antibiotic). We only have to take that for seven days. The mock/trial tranfer is it. It's just like an IUI! I had mine last Friday. But, I cramped a little afterwards this time. It was gone by the next morning. The 15th is also a big day for us. We have an appt. to go over mixing our follistim and repronex at 1:00 and that evening we are to start those meds as long as AF shows when she is supposed to !!!!
how important and why is the white cell blood count? What does it affect in an ivf cycle? Also, when ICSI is recommended? I am a little worried about fertilization rates since we want as many embryos as we can get from this fresh cycle. Does having average vs. high sperm count & morphology significantly change fertilization rates? I understand that doubling sperm count will not double fertilization rates but what is the threshold that is commonly used for ICSI vs. regular ivf?
Our 4 IUIs failed and I've had 3 m/c one every year for the past 3 years. We are praying that IVF work for us. We are doing to have the PGD done as well to make sure that everything is fine with the embryo. In the process of all of the test that I've gone thru we found out that I carry both mutating genes of MTHFR which I guess puts me at an even higher risk not only because of my age and m/c history but now MTHFR.
He was very positive and excited for us. I already did the HSG, and now we are removing a polyp, so I will be as clean as a whistle!! hehe So...now we WAIT for surgery.
I know its a little early but I am looking for some cycle buddies for my August IVF. This will be IVF #2 for this year. I turned 40 end of December. My first IVF resulted in twins but stopped growing at 7 weeks. I have been doing everything I can to prepare my body and mind for the next IVF. I've shed 30 pounds (so far, and still losing) since the height of my last pregnancy, been doing acupuncture since mid-May, exercising 4 times per week and will start chinese herbs this week.
I hope this time it works for you. Right now I am on estrace 2mg twice a day, doxycycline, medrol(these two was just for 5 days will be over tomorrow),prenatal and progesterone in oil shots. What about you? Will keep you in my prayers. esmie1012-Good luck to you. Was it a normal cycle you have IUI or with meds? Don't worry e everything will be fine. tones99-All the best girl! How are the embryos doing? How many are you getting transferred? Don't stress too much. Everything will be fine.
