Doxycycline for ear infection

Common Questions and Answers about Doxycycline for ear infection

5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present? 2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?
Last Friday I found an abscess and some swelling on the lower right side - the dentist prescribed DOXYCYCLINE for the infection - I was hesitant to take it because of my allergic reaction 10 years ago but my face and ear were starting to ache and I had pain in the base of my head and neck however, (the abscess disappeared the next day without the antibiotic from rinsing with salt water) but I was fearful that the infection could be spreading - so I took it against my better judgement.
I assume you actually do have a bacterial and not a viral infection. I'm no doc, but it's odd for a bacterial infection to move from sinus to ear to the lung -- more common for viruses to move around like that. But what do I know. Generally, sinus and ear infections will clear by themselves if left alone, and can be treated with natural antibiotics or just good old salt water, but sometimes an infection is just too strong and that's what antibiotics are for.
I went back to see him today and asked him about the ingenex lab, etc and would they draw blood he said he would look into it, I have felt terrible all day, Nauseua , tingling feet, aches and pains, I only have 2 more days of this stuff, he gave it me for the stomach infection, that was causing the low white cell count ..Thanks guys it was good to come here and know you all feel the same symptoms, my DH just has not an ounce of sympathy in his soul.
He told me that I had an infection of my hair follicles and prescribed Doxycycline. I took it for 10 days and all but an area behind the lower part of my right ear went away. I went back to him in December - when I couldn't take the itching any more and he perscribed Doxycycline again. And it appeared to almost go away - but the very itchy bumps are back in full force again and just in that area. It is driving me crazy.
a year ago and the fluid never left You had a middle ear infection, not an inner ear infection, which is totally different.
he explained with a cut out section ear model that the infection is in the external ear and is a bone infection! he said he could see some granules developed inside. i was prescribed ciplox TZ H for 10 days (initially by a different doc). that didnt i went to this doc who has prescribed me Doxycycline Hyclate for 20 days. i started this doxycycline hyclate drug on june 19. and there is improvement 1st day itself. there was relatively lesser discharge today.
I have been tolerating a bad ear infection for many months now. And believe it to have originated about over a year ago. At the time I was completely unaware since I cant see into my own ear to notice whether it was red even back then, but i certainly remember having lighter yet similiar symptoms as I do now. Alot of these symtoms seem to involve a throbbing sensation of the jaw and temple region as well as severe migraines from time to time.
Hello, Any pimple like swelling near the ear could occur due to few basic possibilities namely a Pimple itself, infected ingrown hair follicle or sebaceous cyst, ear infection and parotid gland infection (parotitis). Pimple or sebaceous cyst may occur due to excess oil clogging in the skin pore.
8) Swollen bottom part of abdomen 9) Have itchy scrotum but the itch is there all this while 10) Can feel slight pain under the abdomen if try to urinate with force My GP has presribed for me Doxycycline 100mg, Zinnat 250mg and Pyridium 100mg yesterday. Taken the medicine but still have swollen bottom part of abdomen, thought the urge to urine has reduced. Questions : 1) Does the symptoms above suggest any STD infection? or just normal bacterial/viral infection?
I developed this lump under my skin near my right ear/jawline. It has been present for approximately 3 months and has doubled in size and is now approximately the size of a quarter. It started during a shingles episode, although I did not have a shingles outbreak in this part of my body. However, it started as neck fullness in that area which developed into a lump along my jaw line area that has persistently gotten larger over the past 3 months.
Two weeks after the encounter I was experiencing a burning sesation in my penis - but not when I urinated. The doctor treated me for NSU with 7 days of doxycycline. The burning persisted and the doctor treated me with 30 days of cipro. The burning finally stopped 10 days after I finished the cipro. It's been 3 months since the exposure and I've since gone back to my doctor to get tested for HIV and syphilis.
I went to the emergency room, when they found the bronchitis after a chest x-ray, and prescribed Prednizone for the inflammation and Doxycycline Halcate for the infection. I couldn't finish the antibiotic, due to even worse of an upset stomach reaction, but continued on the prednizone, though I was starting to have neurological symptoms on that, albeit mildly (anxiety, paranoia, shaking, hallucinations, irritability).
I have started watching the pollen count, and when it is high, my ear is the worst. I am now on doxycycline for lyme. Also on allergy med astepro and flonase. I don' think it is my eustachian tube anymore, but more just inflammation in my inner ear from lyme and allergy. Keep me updated, hope you are well soon!
Due to a tick bite, head removed in pcp office yesterday, I'm taking a generic form-ivax-of doxycycline for seven days now. I'm a generally healthy person; active in professional and community life. I am also feeling angry and frustrated that I cannot get this resolved. What do I need to do?
I also have pain in my ear, tongue, and jaw on the left side. I've been trying to find relief for more years than anyone on a medical help board would want to hear. Have you gotten any help since May?
Hi.  I definitely have allergies (cats/ragweed) and asthma.  Two years ago in August, I was sick, vomiting I was so ill.  Twice, two weeks apart.  From that point on fatigue never left me.  Several months later, in February, I came down with a horrible upper respiratory infection at the same time I was exposed to a huge dose of animal protein and a very unsanitary condition filled with unimaginable filth.  I've never lost my voice before, but this time, I could hardly squeak out a word.
Within two days I was in excruciating pain, starting in my jaw and radiating back to my ear, temple and back of my head. My ear felt like it had an ice pick stuck in it. He prescribed an anbitiotic which I managed to take for 3 days before having a problem with it (my stomach felt like it was being burnt). But it did help the pain tremendously - and as soon as I stopped the antibiotic it came back, in force. 2 Vicadin barely cut the pain.
Finally my family doctor sent me to a lung specialist and he told me I had a mycoplasma infection. I was on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks and I felt much better. Needless to say that has not been the end of it and I've never been the same since. I don't know if the long term mycoplasma infection did damage but anytime I get a cold or flu my body can't fight it off and I end up on a 2 week course of Biaxin (minimum). I met another older lady in a hospital clinic and we started talking.
I just stopped antibiotics two days ago - I took the full doctor recommended course for a bronchial infection. The day after my course of antibiotics stopped, I noticed the sore throat/ear pain. What is going on? The bronchial infection was from the flu in early January and Amoxicillan wouldn't help also had strep throat with it and had my tonsils out 3 years ago. I forgot to tell the doctor that Amoxicillan doesn't work on me.
I have some pretty annoying tinnitus in my left ear. I had a couple of pains in it today but I've never had an ear infection in my life. I'm having floaters, vertigo, fatigue, headache, and just general down feeling due to this illness, I guess. I hope that this will pass. I can't stand the thought of it lasting very long. Very depressing. I'm used to being out, active, driving my car with the music on and just enjoying my weekends off work.
HOPE - I am having the same type symptoms as you have described - I have just returned from a follow-up appointment with an ENT who specializes in hearing loss and balance disorders - they have done many tests--- he says that nothing is wrong with my ears although I have pain in and behind my right ear and thought I had an ear infection. My next step is to go back to my GP because my potassium was low and see if I need to have my BP meds changed and take potassium.
Exact SAME thing. Pain started in left ear. Swore it was ear infection, ever doc who looks in my ear says its fine.. yada yada. Pain shooting down side of my neck, different areas different times.. not muscular.. nerves!!! Going to a new ENT tomorrow and I am going to beg. How did you ever resolve your problem???? ?/? The pain is getting worse, just like you said as my last Doc recommended trying sudafed.. thought I was getting better then I crashed worse than ever.
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for. my nose was bleeding and i had a fever, 2 days after finishing levaquin.
In September the same symptoms started again, and another dentist said it was the tooth that I had root canal in 5 years ago had an infection and gave me penicillin, advising to perform the operation again. The pain subsided, but I did not follow the course of antibiotics properly. Three weeks later I went back to Bulgaria and saw two different dentists who both told me the route canal was perfect, and nothing else is visible on the X ray.
Thanks for the title, but I really am just a plain 'ol MS'er that shares what she knows to anyone who wants to listen! :) 1. Does Lyme follow a relapsing-remitting pattern? YES! In my non medical opinion,,,people that are classified PPMS ( to borrow the term that one of my neuros helped coin, btw) would see a rapid decline in symptoms. Then people like me -RRMS as my neuro said I am; have an immune system that for whatever reason kept this bacteria at a tolerable level.
Im on cipro and Doxy for a urine infection and the Dr said it should help clear the throat too but no luck.It feels like ive got a lump in my throat by the Adams apple and my tonsil area is really red and what look like small blisters just in front of the tonsils. Also the pain sometimes extends to my ears too and the area below my jaw line also seems sensitive.
Am on doxycycline and antibiotic eye drops. Using heating pad for the neck. All of this has improved my condition but whatever virus this is was very persistent and has a long recovery.
Have swollen lymph node behind right ear that ct scan showed as a 6mm cyst. My ENT decided to just watch it for 6 months. Asked ENT about night sweats and he said they were probably lymphatic and not his area :/ Now my PHP has made me an appointment with an internal medicine doctor about the night sweats. Also have 2 cysts in my thyroid, but ENT was unconcerned with those as well because my thyroid levels were checked many times and normal range. Have felt generally yucky (no energy, etc.).
Swimmergirl is right, an infection is a significant concern, both bacterial in her case (staph and possibly MRSA), and even more worrisome would those like rodina with eye pain. Nose + eye pain is very worrisome for herpes infection of the eye which can be very serious. It needs immediate evaluation from an ophthalmologist. A painful red nose for the rest of you... that's not normal and worth getting your doctor to examine.
