I may have gone on for many more years thinking they were ingrown hairs or boils. The correct term for it sounds unappealing, so I may just refer to it as "Fox disease" as I saw on one site. Hopefully in due time, they can be healed without the scarring!! Thanks again!!!!!!!

Hello, I decided to come on here to ask a question about a possible neck rash I've had for weeks now. I went to my dermatologist and because there were several whiteheads on my neck he didnt even take a second look and told me it was acne. I'm pretty sure its not acne though.
If not he will be sending me to an ENT for scoping and a CT scan. I am in the Tampa, FL area for those who are asking.
Could they be boils? http://www.differencebetween.
Ask him to take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. If there are recurrent boils, then please get his blood sugar levels estimated. Also since he has had many courses of antibiotics, so he needs to get a culture sensitivity of the pus from the boisl done so that specific topical as well as oral antibiotics can be prescribed. I hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts.

The first doctor prescribed me for doxycycline for 2 weeks during the course of the medication it went away. After a couple days they came back. Having to go to a naval hospital I don't get a choice in who my doctor is and my original doctor had been moved to a different base.
My dermatologist injected corisone directly into the boils/bumps and put me on doxycycline, then oracea for about six months total. I've had no recurrences since then, so I sometimes wonder if I actually had HS or if maybe it was a MRSA infection (I was substitute teaching in the NYC public schools during the whole MRSA scare at the time).

My cut started to heal and i went to the ER for my lymph nodes and the doctor gave me doxycycline to take for ten days. I've been taking the med for 3 days now and the cut and the bump is gone and my lymph nodes have gone down also. There's still a redness that itches sometimes and it looks chafed but i have no pain.
He told me that I had an infection of my hair follicles and prescribed Doxycycline. I took it for 10 days and all but an area behind the lower part of my right ear went away. I went back to him in December - when I couldn't take the itching any more and he perscribed Doxycycline again. And it appeared to almost go away - but the very itchy bumps are back in full force again and just in that area. It is driving me crazy.
I'm sorry I forgot to add that I did take keflex for a couple of weeks in early January (after my chest xray) and doxycycline during most of April (which helped with some of the acne and small boils I was getting). Thanks so much for your help.

A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. Doxycycline is the preferred antibiotic for perioral dermatitis but minocycline can also be used. In unresponsive and granulomatous forms, oral isoterinoin may also be considered. Pimecrolimus cream can also be used. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Surgical consultation may be obtained for removal of sinus tracts, curettage, and exteriorization of the gland. Excision and skin grafting may be helpful for severe intractable cases. Also, surgery should be considered in early cases because the area to excise is smaller and less damaged from recurrences. The CO2 laser has been used to strip away glandular tissue. tetracycline and erythromycin may be helpful on a long-term basis, and cephalosporins often will help in acute cellulitis.
on the boils and sometimes this will help soften the skin up so that they can drain. Yes, it is marked for veterinary use and is used to soften up cow udders (lol), but is available in your local drug store. It's cheap, seems to help and is totally safe for humans. It's very similar to "Boil Ease" and much less expensive. One tin of it will last forEVER!!

It is something that needs to be attended to not just for gonorrhea but for other” bacterial infections for which antibiotic resistance is growing.
(Atkins induction menu for one whole month instead of the suggested two weeks) I did this recently for one whole month (SHEER TORTURE...LOL) was very strict about it when I did it, and I kept the carbs below 15 grams a day. MEAT, EGGS, CHEESE AND LETTUCE ONLY!!! "YES" TO MAYO and ranch dressing, NO TO KETCHUP (it contains sugar) also...NOTHING WHITE...I allowed myself a very small portion of green beans or broccoli once a day. I also drank enough water to fill a lake.
