I have done a Chlamydia test and since I was worried this was most likely epididimytis and I didn't want it to become chronic I received doxycycline and have taken that for a week, it seemed to have gotten better but the pain was still there and it was pretty bad 2 days ago, when I got an appointment to a urologist. The chlamydia test came out negative.
In the mean time the doctor told me to stop taking the Cipro and he prescribed me Doxycycline. It seemed like right away after taking the Doxycycline that my symptoms started to feel better. I thought for sure that it was getting better and that would be the end of it. Well i still haven't gotten the results back from the STD's test, and after 5 days of being on the Doxycycline my symptoms have started coming back.
I were in Atlanta a month ago and he was complaining about having a strong urge to pee and burning. I told him that it probably was a UTI and to go see about it when we got home. He was tested and it came back that he had urethritis. (a form of an UTI; that's what the DR told him). The Dr. gave him some antibiotics and azithromycin ( 1 dose). We had sex 3 days later because we thought that it was just a UTI. the following day, he gets a call from DR.
Had an ultrasound to be make sure no cancer was present. Diagnosis was mild orchitis and prescribed one week of Doxycycline. At the end of the treatment I started to feel better but not quite 100%. After some research into orchitis, it seemed STD may be a prime culprit. Seven days after the end of the Doxy treatment, the pain has returned and I decided to get a test for STD's. Everything came back negative. I suspect that I may have had chlamydia or ghonnorea.
He had reassured me that he was 'safe and clean'. After my time with him, about a week later, I developed a uti/yeast infection. After a 6 day course of Bactrim and 2 courses of Diflucan I still felt that I was no better. I had intense vaginal pain/inside. I noticed that the inside of my vagina had swelled so severely that when i squatted down in the shower, I could actually feel my swollen vagina push out. I was tested for chlamydia and it came back positivie.
I was given an additional prescription for 100mg of Doxycycline 2x daily for 2 weeks. I am about halfway through and beyond minor side effects from the antibitoics, I am feeling MUCH better. Basically my questions are: 1. Am I at a higher risk for HIV from this encounter now that I have become infected with Syphilis from this individual? 2. What would be your recommended screening/testing dates to know that I am not infected? 3. Am I overreacting? 4.
So of course after still having symptoms the doctor put me on another cycle of Doxycycline for the same dosage and length thinking it was urethritis. After 3 days of being on this medicine I noticed no discharge but still the redness continued and tenderness to my urethra when pressing on it. I also started to get irritation to my right eye and thus took my contacts out. I have not had any discharge or color change to my eye. I am trying to get an appointment to see an eye doctor this week.
All my test were negative, with the exception of syphilis. After a shot of rocephin, 500mg of Azithromycin, and one week of Doxycycline (1 more to go), I feel much better. I have a feeling that the Syphilis test may have been skewed by the bacteria that was in my system as Syphilis does not come on after 2 days, but stranger things have happened. Also, it could have been a joint infection of Syphilis and some other bacteria was causing the symptoms.
I went to a local ob-gyn first, who tested me for candida (-) and sent me home without treatment after writing off my abdominal pain. Next I went to a city ob-gyn. I was tested for candida, uti and chlamydia. All were negative. The doctor's non-specific diagnosis was that I had a bacterial infection. I was treated with Cravit 100mg twice daily for five days. Symptoms began approx. 3/17 and improved rapidly after I started the antibiotics on 3/28.
On the morning of May 15 I visited my family doctor. A urine sample revealed nothing alarming. I was treated for a UTI and prescribed a three day course of ciprofloxacin (250mg twice daily). They also took blood samples for a full panel of tests. I returned to my doctor on May 17, as the Cipro appeared to have no impact. Burning sensation intensified significantly, but still no sign of discharge or other symptoms.

diagnosed me with non-infectious urethritis and cured me with doxy. It reoccurred 3 weeks later. The second time she diagnosed me with UTI. Cirpo cured it this time. It's back again. I am pending another urine test before she gives me more treatment. Let me make it clear I do NOT have an STD per her diagnosis and neither does my gf. She also referred me to an urologist.
Analysis of a urine sample revealed nothing alarming. I was treated for a UTI and prescribed a three day course of ciprofloxacin (250mg twice daily). The PA also took blood samples to be sent off for a full panel of STD tests. I returned to my doctor on May 17, as the Cipro appeared to have no impact. I started drinking tons of water , and cranberry juice. I also began taking doxycycline (100mg 2x per day), which I had incase of malaria on my trip. Instantly after regaining hydration I noticed my urination was not nearly as painful, maybe back around a 3 . Today the 24th- My urination seems to be the same, uncomfortable but not as bad as it was on my flight.
Went to campus clinic and was told that they found white blood cells in my urine. They assumed it was a UTI and prescribed me the proper medication The itching continued, more intensified with a little burning while peeing and discomfort when sitting: It was itching all day for a number of days and would not go away! I came back and saw a different doctor at the clinic; this time I had a vaginal examination done and a culture taken.
About 2 months ago I developed UTI symptoms. I went to Urgent Care [as I don't have health insurance] and had it checked out. The only symptoms I had were typical of UTI. Tip of penis had a light burning sensation as well as painful urination. The doctor gave me a weeks worth of Cipro. The cipro seemed to lessen the symptoms, but that's it. I waited a couple more weeks to see if it would go away on it's own, it didn't, then I started to get a tingling sensation in my testicles.
About two weeks after the encounter with the prostitute I had a burning sensation upon urination. Didn't think much of it I just figured it was a uti and it'd go away within a day or so. A couple days later I still had the burn so I went to a clinic and was prescribed zithromax although the doctor did not diagnose me with anything. Because this was not my primary doctor I set up an appointment to meet with my real one.
Do you remember what dosage of Cipro you were taking? The Doxycycline didnt seem to do anything for me but again it wasnt nearly a high enough dosage to treat SIBO, as it was given to me for IBS.
4. The WBC in your urine might suggest this however between the doxycycline and augmentin you've taken, the chances of you having an STD are very low, not to mention the no risk nature of your exposure. Since red blood cells were also there in the urine, a kidney stone might be a possibility or, although unlikely, a urinary tract infection.
He basically just looked at my urine sample color and said it can't be a bladder thing since it's so clear, let's test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. He gave me Cefixime 400mg and Doxycycline 100mg for 10 days. The test results came back negative, but honestly I was so stressed out about the whole thing that I peed way too soon after the last urination so I'm not sure how accurate the test was.
cystocopy, scan, kidney function test, blood tests......everything normal but still have problem. Like you reoccurring uti with blood in urine.Keep returning to Gp but they keep saying well you don't have an infection. One doctor said, you can have the urethra tube replaced but wasn't to keen on the operation. I have problems with emtying the bladder totally which i think is where my infections come from,GP said, you can have the urethra stretched but good possibility of incontinence.
thinking it might be a UTI, i went to urgent care 5 days after symptoms began and they did a UA and gave me 14 days of doxycycline. UA came back normal and the doxy seemed to help some as painful urination subsided after about a week and a half from onset. after I finished the doxy I was still experiencing some general aches & pains both in my shaft but also in my perineum. hot baths seemed to help ease the perineal discomfort, as did ibruprofen.
Yea.. I told him that before he took them... Is zithromax 1 gram dosage as effective as doxycycline 100mg bid x 10days..is tetracycline also used for tx of std? thank you again for your help!!
I understand that Lyme can be stopped in its very early stages by use of a standard antibiotic like doxycycline, but the longer you wait, the more the bacteria spread through your system and become very difficult to eradicate. The risks of taking doxy are, I think, fairly small if any, while the down side of NOT jumping on a possible Lyme infection are life-changing .... I wish I were being melodramatic by that statement, but I'm not. Please do not wait.
because I am dealing with joint pain, i had pink eye two weeks ago and have been dealing with only testicle pain and burning during urination...i have been given doxycycline for a UTI ,5 days worth, but it has not helped...I have had unprotected sex with my gf for over a year now, she hasn't had any issues over the past year....
constant white, sour smelling vaginal discharge, pain with insertion. Back in January of 09, I had a severe UTI. It was the first one I ever had and I took about a week to get to the doctor because I didn't know what was going on . He said my urine was the worst he had seen in a while. Anyway, all they did was dip a test strip into the urine. I was put on Cipro for 5-7 days. I went back at the end of the 7 days because I had developed a vaginal discharge.

I got treated with an injection of Rocephin and was given a week of Doxycycline. She initially was going to give me the Azithromycin, I am really glad I knew and mentioned I had already taken it. Hopefully I tolerate the Doxy well. I asked why I showed clean last Friday but was later shown as infected and she said sometimes it takes a while in culture for them to see it. I am very glad this clinic did both.
If the Azithromycin isn't helping, talk to your doc about an extended course of Doxycycline. Also make sure you get treatment for Trich at the same time (preferably a 7 day course of Metronidazole or single dose of Tinidazole). Doxy is highly effective for the prostate, produce high syrum levels in the body that allow more of it to penetrate the prostate. An extended course of Erythromycin may also be worth a shot if Doxy doesn't help.
