Avatar m tn He has been on Doxycycline for a week now, even though his results for Lyme were negative. Is it normal to have negative results if you do have Lyme disease? Is it normal for a fever to last for weeks. When can he expect to start feeling better? Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn Sounds like it's lyme related to me, lyme disease is known to cause skin sensations like "tingly" feelings although i've never read about one like you have. I don't want to scare you - but that sounds like it could also be related to a co-infection you received during the tick bite. However, symptoms can still develop while on doxycycline treatment as i've also had many new symptoms develop while on it.
Avatar m tn Amoxicillin is NOT the treatment for Lyme Disease.......All Tick diseases are treated with Doxycycline or a Tetracycline...You need a second opinion & I'd do it tomorrow if possible.......
Avatar f tn Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage: "Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
Avatar f tn Welcome to MedHelp Lyme! Not exactly a party kind of event, but it has its own good aspects ... like getting rid of Lyme! Good for you for plowing ahead. I'm not medically trained, but from what I read, doxycycline (doxy for short) can be quite effective against a Lyme infection ... BUT only if the infection is diagnosed fairly soon.
Avatar n tn You should look for a Lyme specialist or Neurologist who knows about Lyme Disease.
554044 tn?1215314691 However, one of our number is having problems which we cannot really address. She is convinced she has Lyme disease and wishes to try Doxycycline at 500mg doze but has hit a brick wall. Jenny lives in Canterbury, Kent, and her Neurologist has diagnosed her as having both MS and Parkinsons. Her GP is annoyed at Jenny's refusal to take any of the MS drugs and dismisses the possibility of Lyme disease out of hand.
984138 tn?1359813073 doxycycline is what they treat you with for lyme right? Odd thing but my gyno called me in that medicine for a common thing probaly yeast infection... i just talked to the recpetionist not the actual doctor because it was very minor she said. But anywho should i take it? Obviously i should but should i take it when im a positive for lyme but have no LLMD yet and my ID just got back to work today so shes catching up with everyhting and havent looked at my results yet.
Avatar f tn from Pub Med "to treat Lyme disease, cefuroxime is taken twice a day for 20 days.
Avatar m tn My dr seems to think I have Lyme disease and began treatment since Aug 2013 for Lyme disease first treatment was 3 months and I began to feel better. The fatigue never left though :((. About amonth later began having more symptoms some similar as before and new ones(very debilitating ones). I was put back on antibiotics for 2 months with dbl the dosage as first treatment. Did not feel better some symptoms were not as severe but still present.
Avatar f tn He also had shaking, muscle spasms. She took him to the vet and he was positive for lyme disease. He is on Doxycycline for 30 days, then will retest for the lyme. She said he looks and seems to feel terrible.... vet gave her pain pills for him too. Interesting..... people get brushed off, ..... At least the poor animals who have no voice get treated!! Best wishes and healing to all!
Avatar n tn he referred me to my GP doctor. I have an appointment with my GP next week. Do you think I could have Lyme disease from the tick, and if so - are my current symptoms consistent with Lyme? I'm desparate; the pain is bad - and Aleve/Advill, etc. are no relief. Please help!
Avatar n tn We recently visited the Vet and had Lyme vaccinatin and test. The snapshot test came back with Lyme positive. The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
Avatar n tn I do not get classic migraine, but do get migraine auras and other pressure headaches from my Lyme disease. 4. There are alternative treatments, again, an LLMD could advise you. However, what comes to mind is that your antibiotic treatment could have been incomplete and/or too short. A hypothesis is that chronic Lyme patients are co-infected with other illnesses carried by ticks. These other infections may not respond to the same antibiotics that kill the Lyme bacteria.
Avatar f tn I told her to check for everything that is why she checked and then the Lyme came out positive on both tests. I have hear that HIV can make a Lyme disease test mess up ( I have read it online) also other diseases and bacteria can too. I am just very worried because I have no recollection of any "bites" or any rash what so ever on my body at all. I have been going crazy with this anxiety and haven't slept much at all and wake up about every hour.
594002 tn?1256303782 Heightended Lyme symptoms while under treatment from antibiotics ( doxycycline included) is a very common manifestation. Starts with an H as I recall... Anyway it is mentioned in most Lyme books and elsewhere on this Forum.
14012411 tn?1432508856 s very important to tell us what kind of doctor treated you for Lyme disease. Was it an LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) or was it just an infectious disease doctor. That's EXTREMELY important because only LLMD docs know how to successfully treat Lyme disease. They know the different antibiotics to use and they know the correct doses.
Avatar f tn Good Morning everyone. I am new to this forum and have a question to post. I have currently been diagnosed with chronic lyme disease. I have been fighting this "monster" for over ten years. . Can anyone share what type of diet might help control symptoms in chronic lyme disease?
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with lyme disease and will be taking Doxycycline for 30 days. Can anyone tell me if I must avoid dairy entirely or just avoid it a couple of hours before and after taking this antibiotics? Thanks.
Avatar f tn And what I meant by doing another western blot is that ive read sometimes doctor give you a trail run of antibiotics if they are not sure if you have Lyme Disease and it might produce a positive IgG if I did have lymes disease...
Avatar m tn s surprising since a doctor who sends tests to Igenex will usually know more about how to treat Lyme disease. Unless I mis-understood what you said----- you had four SEPARATE courses of antibiotics? Do you feel comfortable with telling us what those antibiotics were and what the instructed dosage was? Any other info would be helpful to us also, as long as you feel comfortable doing that. As far as the CD57 test----- I didn't have one before I knew I was sick.
