Avatar f tn Poor Cookie! B12 would be the same vitamin whether for dogs or humans. But you would need to get the right dosage for her. I'm afraid I don't know what that is, so I would say yes, ask the vet about it. I am sure he could tell you, and maybe over the phone, so you wouldn't need to be charged for a consultation to get an answer. About the protein shakes....again I don't know for sure.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me what STDs can be treated with Doxycycline? Can you list all of them please? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar n tn He had to go to the bathroom every 2 hours, starting using the bathroom in the house (Never done before). I backed off the dosage to 1 every 12 hours and called the vet. He now has no energy, won't eat, won't play, has lost weight and acts as if his body is in pain. He will stand up as long as possible and when he is worn out he will finally lay down. When he was rechecked at the vet, he had blood in his urine and his platelet count was a 4!
Avatar m tn It might or might not kill the bacteria, it depends on the dosage and consistency and some other things. Doxycycline is not always effective vs gonococci, so, no guarantees here. Taking antibiotics would certainly mess with your test results. So, you should complete your doxycycline regimen first then test in a week or two.
Avatar m tn Can this be from the medication or is she in pain? The vet thinks she may have brain tumor, and I want to make sure she is not in pain.
Avatar n tn Got tested and was positive for chlamydia. I got treated and was put on doxycycline. Got re-tested and I am cured of it but the symptoms never went away. For the past three years after I urinate and after sex (ejaculation) it burns really bad in the middle urethra and part of of the penis never during urination. I've been the urologist and he says he found strep in my semen and he wanted to treat me for it.
Avatar f tn Our 7 year old yellow lab Rocco was recently diagnosed in the last stage of renal failure just a couple weeks ago. I brought him to our regular vet with symptoms of loss of appetite, bad breath & nausea. The vet did a brief exam & said his exam was unremarkable & didn’t feel like a blood work was necessary. Said he looks like a healthy dog. A week later I called the vet back & said I wanted blood work done. On a Friday they performed blood work & urinalysis.
Avatar f tn After the doxycycline in liquid form my dog has been vomiting constantly. He can’t seem to swallow comfortably anymore. Even water seems to be a problem. His breath is very acidic. I tried to give him food through the syringe but he vomits everything, even after water. I gave him subq to keep him hydrated.
Avatar f tn I have heard of it being used in dogs going through Chemo but I would not use that without consulting a Vet first. Have you tried Dramamine or Ginger? What breed and size dog is this? How old? You could try a ginger capsule in something like lunch meat, cheese or pill pocket. I have had success using Ginger Snap cookies about 30 mins before leaving and take some along with me. Fostered a Greyhound here that was going to an adoptive home 2 states away and was going to be driven there.
Avatar n tn He advised against this but gave me a prescription of Azithromycin, with 500mg dosage twice a day for three days. In all my research online, I have read that the recommended dosage is 1g of Azithromycin taken once. Is the dosage I was prescribed as effective?
Avatar f tn Determining a dosage of tramadol for dogs is an exercise in futility. As with people, if the dog has a history of seizures it is important to let your vet know this, and they will likely tell you about alternatives. While the dosage amounts vary from dog to dog, the tramadol dosage for dogs can be put into effect by using the dog’s weight as the determinant. The usual range is .5 - 1.8mg per pound.
Avatar n tn m taking the antibiotic I notice that for most of the day my burning pain in penis and genitals is diminished. It may come back later in the day but once I take my next dosage it dissapates again. Inever broke out into sores anywhere atleast that I noticed just this constant burning in genitals. My question is Would doxycycline affect herpes in this way. Or if I do have herpes might it be approaching the end of the initial outbreak.
Avatar f tn .... [continued from above] So that says there are different way to treat, both in kind of meds taken and in dosage. If it were I, I would definitely ask about the dosage: "Dr, I was doing some reading and saw that 200 miligrams of doxycycline is at the bottom of the scale. Can it be given in higher doses? I'm so ready to get well!" Then smile gently and see what the doc says.

Avatar n tn My pet spaniel has been put on lasix for his heart condition. My question is, is there a minimum dosage that's effective yet reduces the amount of water intake and his frequent urination. His quality of life and ours is very difficult right now as he must be taken out frequently. He is approximately 20 lbs.
20153054 tn?1491240067 Most dogs are okay with Benadryl in the right dosage but there can always be adverse reactions or dogs for whom it is unsuitable -so check first! Even if that is a phone call instead of a visit. Some info (including dosage per weight) on Benadryl for dogs: http://benadrylfordogs.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with folliculitis, and have been prescribed Doxycycline. I have been taking it now for almost two months and I have gained 10lbs very quick. I am still very active and have done nothing different as far as my diet goes. Is this a possible side effect of the antibiotic.
Avatar n tn As far as I'm aware, benadry is safe for quite a long time in dogs. The general doggy dosage is 1 mg/ per pound, so that's what your vet has prescribed - most people tend to go too low on the dosage. Using it for only the summer months should be no problem at all. I had a dog who needed it a good 8 months or more of every year and it never caused any trouble. Hope it works well for your Bostie!
Avatar n tn Human grade fish oil supplements are made from exactly the same ingredients (usually!) as the ones for dogs. But check ingredients to make sure there is nothing in there that shouldn't be, and can harm dogs....such as xylitol etc. Pure fish oil is okay. But keep the capsules or bottle of oil out of the light, preferably in the refrigerator to prevent rancidity/free radicals, etc. There is some information, and information about dosages here: http://csu-cvmbs.colostate.
Avatar f tn I am here (again) at the Chronic Kidney Failure in Dogs pg, but I don't see any "join" button. I have looked several times on different days. I did join some part some weeks ago, because I get automatically logged in when I click the favorite button. But what should I do now to join the ckf in dogs group?
Avatar f tn He also had shaking, muscle spasms. She took him to the vet and he was positive for lyme disease. He is on Doxycycline for 30 days, then will retest for the lyme. She said he looks and seems to feel terrible.... vet gave her pain pills for him too. Interesting..... people get brushed off, ..... At least the poor animals who have no voice get treated!! Best wishes and healing to all!
Avatar f tn Because my dog interacts with other dogs a lot, when he developed a "cough" I immediately took him to the vet. He had no fever, is eating and drinking normally and his activity level is normal - he doesn't at all act like a sick dog. I have kept him away from other dogs to avoid getting them sick. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and put him on Doxycycline 100 mg - he takes 1 1/2 pills twice a day. He started them on Tuesday. He has also had a Bordetella vaccine.
Avatar n tn IBD Leads to Secondary Infections, Organ Degeneration, Nutritional Deficiencies and Even Cancer Secondary infections are very common in dogs and cats with inflammatory bowel disease. This is the result of not having a balanced, healthy digestive system. Over half your pet’s immune function is located in his GI tract, so if the intestines are inflamed and compromised, the immune system is compromised right along with it.
