Doxy only cures chlamydia if I am correct. I got treated for both chlamydia and gonorrhea just in case when I thought I wasn't cured and it was two different medications.

However, resistance to sulfa drugs has steadily increased and typically treatment for one includes treatment for the other.. and today Chlamydia is usually treated with doxycycline.
Just for information Zpack seems to becoming less effective at treating chlamydia especially in the rectal area so some countries have changed the prescription method for zpack (most use doxycycline now but for ones with zpak) 1g as single dose on day one followed by one 500mg for the following two days.
Also I wouldn’t rellly on Zpack for gonnorhea its become someone resistant and not many professionals reccomend it, for the ones that do 2g as a single dose is most likely to work.
So I'm overseas, and its tough to find a doctor for cheap around here.
I suspect I contracted Chlamydia during another over-seas trip that just finished in mid August (I did have unprotected sex on this trip). When I returned, I had a persistent sore throat, slight vaginal itching, diarrhoea, and changes to my discharge (slightly thick, yellowish, with tiny brown/green lumps).
Doxycycline is not reliable against gonorrhea no matter how long you take it. For chlamydia or NGU, you really need to take the full 7 days.

gave me 10 day 2 dosage of doxycycline just in case. Swab test for chlamydia was positive and I finished remainder of antiobiotics. Since then I have still felt a mild discomfort (especially after prolonged sitting). I went back in Mid Oct to get HIV test & swab test again. Negative result for chlamydia,HIV, and the dr. even examined my clear fluid under microscope for trich. Dr. gave me 1 dosage of antiobiotic (methadizole however you spell it) just in case for trich infection.
t have elevated WBC in urine or the urethra, and testing for WBC is very imprecise. That result means nothing; the positive PCR for chlamydia is all that matters here.
4) Properly used condoms that remain intact provide 100% protection against chlamydia, or close to it.
Bottom line: Complete your treatment as prescribed, then return to your doctor if your symptoms persist. Make sure your sex partner(s) also are examined and treated.

I took single dose of doxycycline everyday for 6 weeks during the summer. Would that have cleared a chamydia infection.
If you took azithromycin in one dose, that would take up to around 7 days to fully work. If you took doxycycline for 7 days, it will be cured by the time you are finished those meds.
I'm guessing, maybe, that you were being treated for chlamydia and had sex too soon. If that's the case, your partner should be told to test. If your partner was being treated and you had sex too soon, you should test.
2 weeks ago, I was given one dose of 1g azithromycin that helped (pain when urinating gone). Last week, since they also found chlamydia in my anus, I was again prescribed doxycycline (2x100g) for 7 days. However, the clinic made a mistake and only gave me 12 (instead of 14) 100g tablets that make my treatment will only lasts 6 days. The thing is I really can't pick up the extra tablets as the clinic is out of town and I am working full time and going abroad in 2 days.
After a few days however my testicles ached after i drank a large amount of liqour. I took another zithromax dosage and this time 1g on the first day and 500mg for another two days. I also took doxy 100mg. bid for two weeks but my testicles still hurt. Was the treatment enough or a failure?
Also my wife whom i had sex during the supposed incubation period also took 1g of zithromax and 5 days of 100mg. doxy bid.
Ten days treatment with doxycycline is 100% effective against chlamydia; it is even more effective than azithromycin. So either the original diagnosis was wrong; or you also had something else that explains your current symptoms.
From the way you ask the question, I cannot tell whether you had a a positive laboratory test for chlamydia, such as PCR or culture; professional diagnosis, but without laboratory confirmation; or your own belief based on symptoms.
Last week i had a stinging in my penis and i was scared for chlamydia. I never had discharge and maybe its my anxiety here speaking. I had with me a package of doxycyline EG 100 mg. I took it last wednesday. but i read that it is required for 7 days 2 pils a day. And in my package there were only 10 pils. So i took 2 pils a day for 5 days. So i had also with me a package of zitromax and yesterday i took 1.5 g at once. I know its stupid but i was so scared.
I went to urologist who checked prostate (which was fine), did bladder scan, and tested my urine for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichonomas, mycoplasma/ureaplasma. I was on doxycycline for the first urine tests which came back negative. Then I retested 5 days after being off doxycycline. Tests were still negative. I’m still having the symptoms. Had a CBC done and WBC was 5.5 in normal range. My Questions are below:

Got tested and was positive for chlamydia. I got treated and was put on doxycycline. Got re-tested and I am cured of it but the symptoms never went away. For the past three years after I urinate and after sex (ejaculation) it burns really bad in the middle urethra and part of of the penis never during urination. I've been the urologist and he says he found strep in my semen and he wanted to treat me for it.
Dicloxacillin is a poor choice for any STD. It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
Is this Chlamydia, something else or just over stressing? Also , I assume I should continue the Doxycycline since I have started taking it, and is the dosage /frequency adequate enough to work.

Hi I went to the doctor and he put me on doxycycline while awaiting the STD lab results. For the past two days I'm taking the antibiotic I notice that for most of the day my burning pain in penis and genitals is diminished. It may come back later in the day but once I take my next dosage it dissapates again. Inever broke out into sores anywhere atleast that I noticed just this constant burning in genitals. My question is Would doxycycline affect herpes in this way.
Hi. I was diagnosed with chlamydia around 3 months ago. I took the two 500mg dosage used at the health center. I fear my girlfriend may still be infected and that we are passing the infection back and forth. My local pharmacist gave us a regular zpack to treat both of us. He directed us to take two 250mg tablets once daily for three days. Will this cure chlamydia or should I take a higher dosage?
Several days later, he called and confirmed that I had tested positive for Chlamydia. He prescribed Doxycycline (100 mgs for 7 days). I did receive a call from the girl that I was dating that she tested positive for Chlamydia shortly after the call from my doctor. She said that she had been battling a sore throat for some time and seemed embarrassed. Needless to say, the entire situation was awkward for both of us, so we haven't seen one another since.
