Will Doxycycline Hyclate help my sore throat? My doctor prescribed it for me for a sinus infection, and I mentioned to her that my throat also hurt. But after researching this medication, it specifies upper respiratory infections, but doesn't just say sore throat.

About 2 days after oral sex she went to Dr. with a sore throat. I looked at throat and it was 2 red bumps with white center. Dr. said it looked wierd to her and prescribed 10 days of 500 mg of Leviquin. Dr. told her to see an ENT 3 days later. ENT said it was not cancer, could see red bumps but not white spots and likely a common throat infection. He took a swab of her throat. I then went to get tested and came back positive for Gonorrhoeae, negative for Chlamydia.

I was given Doxycycline. The discharge has pretty much cleared up, but the sore throat is quite a bit worse. Today I noticed small white patches at the back of my throat. I'm concerned about my throat symptoms, which are quite painful. Could they be due to an STD?

I need some clarity ... for the last 3 months I've come down with strep, pneumonia and acute pharyngitis. The bronchial infection was from the flu in early January and Amoxicillan wouldn't help also had strep throat with it and had my tonsils out 3 years ago. I forgot to tell the doctor that Amoxicillan doesn't work on me. I ended up running that course and then went back to the doctor 2 weeks ago coughing up green sputum and he said it was bronchial - my throat also hurt same as now and he put me on Doxycycline.

For mono, it showed that I have antibody, but its not active now. Sed rate was 3mm/hour, and blood count results were normal. I was also tested for strep throat, yeast infection, bacterial infection (on vaginal area) and it was all negative. I am currently taking antibiotics (doxycycline), but the symptom is getting worse. My question is does amoxicillian actually treat chlamydia because only time i was prescribed that was for strep throat.

However, I am currently taking Amoxicillin for strep throat. I told the clinic about the Amoxicillin and they told me to finish the Amoxicillin and then start taking the Doxycline. My question is, will taking the Doxycline right after I finish the Amoxicillin somehow lower the efficacy of the Doxycline, or should the Doxycline still be effective at knocking out the Chlamydia?

3 days later I developed white spots on my throat (much like strep). 5 days later I went to the clinic who gave me 2 shots in my butt, and doxycycline and some durogen Forte and some mouth wash. Currently the white spots are gone, and I feel fine. I have no symptoms of any kind or marks on my genitalia. Strep tests came back negative and doctor thought that I had acute tonsilitis, possibly due to gonoccoal exposure. I have 2 days left of anti-b's.

Second, most oral gonorrhea is asymptomatic and is not associated with sore throat, fever or other symptoms of any sort. Thus, what you most likely have is a viral sore throat or at worst, strep throat. If it is strep throat and it could well be you need treatment. Thus I would suggest that if it si not clearly viral and has lasted more than a day or two, you get checked but that you not worry about gonorrhea.

i have been prescribed with selenium sulfide shampoo, ketaconazole, and doxycycline hyclate. so far the diagnosis is psoriasis (possibly guttate because i did recently have strep-throat), with a fungal infection as well?? Wondering if I really do have psoriasis???

I forgot to mention DID have a fever (and my glans penis became slightly redder) and the doctor diagnosed me with both Strep throat and Mono, but strep throat goes away in 3 to 7 days without treatment, and probably even more quickly with treatment. I KNOW FOR A FACT I had strep throat AND a virus. Thanks to my negative mono test, my anxiety soared and I began to think it was HIV.

some of the tests are negative HIV, Lymes, Hepatitis, Flu, Strep Throat. Though some bacteria was found in the sputum. Chest X-ray showed some inflammation at the bottom of the lungs. some blood cultures are awaited. Malaria test and UTI is also pending.The fever was back again today also 100.5. I don't have an official Lyme diagnosis; I've kind of stopped pursuing one (or any kind of diagnosis) for now and am just doing what I can to beef up my savings because recent family issues have made just saving up enough money to move out of this house more important than my health. Moreover on other occasions when I've taken antimicrobials (for an arachnid bite, strep throat, bronchitis) they worked right away. So I'm inclined to agree with those scientists who are questioning whether there ia any role for antimicrobials in this disease, and whether they had any beneficial effect in my case. Anyway, it's been a strange journey, and I'm glad to be coming out of the tunnel.

Weird thing though is we got my test results today and both were negative? What's going on? Could it be a false negative? STD clinic gave me Cefixime 500mg and 7 days of Dox, twice a day. Day 18 - SO and I are diagnosed with strep throat. I thought I hit the lottery. She is given seven days of Amoxicillin 875mg, each capsule, twice a day. Have since learned that Amox may not be best to treat nonchlamydial NGU. My symptoms were worse during this week. Burning when peeing, feeling of urine leakage. Day 21 - my symptoms are much better, gone. Finish medication. Day 29 - slight symptoms return.
