doxycycline and probiotics

Anyone have suggestions for supplements and probiotics to take along with my antibiotics? My dr has already prescribed a good probiotic that is kept refrigerated, and an high dose of b12. What else? thanks.

Im currently on diflucan and Doxycycline, diflucan so no candida can grow out of control and the doxycycline to kill the bad bacteria. Its been one week and no results...is that normal? Will it take a month or 2 of antibiotics to see any improvement in my symptoms? Or should I ask my doctor to switch my antibiotics to something stronger? What can I do to get the good bacteria to grow in my system again. My diet is no grains or breads or anything like that. Just vegetables and protein.

I am an avid runner and biker. I have always taken care of my diet and eat as fresh and as healthily as possible. Before now I have had a bowel movement 3 times per day. About 4 months go I began having bouts of severe constipation that last between 7 and 10 days. I have had xrays and a CT done and they say everything is fine. The only thing that happened prior to these bouts of constipation is that I got a severe infection following a tetanus shot. It was so bad I could not move my arm.

Hello, I took doxycycline (antibiotic) from June of 2012-December 12th, 2012. I went off of it due to the fact that I was bloating and my stool was loose(no diarrhea) and off colored. My doctor told me to take probiotics and if need be start taking the antibiotics again in 2 weeks. I've been taking probiotics since December 12th and the problem still persists. What could be wrong? I thought that maybe I might be lactose intolerant, but I wasn't before? This is super frustrating.

i took doxycycline for a wound infection. and my doctor prescribed me the antibiotic for only 10 days. and i have already finished my medications when i started reading and seeing more comments that you should give it 2 or 3 hours before and after eating yogurt. but i called my pharmacist once while taking doxy if i could eat any food before taking the med. and was told that it shouldn't be a problem. so now i am confused.

Hi, for the past two months I’ve felt generalized achiness, symmetrical muscle pains in my arms, joint pain on and off in my hands, back and knees, very dry eyes, cold hands and splotchy redness in my hands with burning sensation, and depression My CBC was normal, tests for RA and lupus was normal, EBV was negative. She did a western blot as the only test for Lyme and my IgG p41 and IgM p23 were the only positive bands. What do you all think?

I am not really sure about yeast making Lyme symptoms worse. But I just wanted to say, when I had thrush it hurt bad. I would be more concerned with the diarrhea than I would the "white stuff" on your tongue, unless it hurts and burns. The diarrhea is not caused by fungus, but rather an imbalance of good bacteria in your intestines. When you take antibiotics, your killing both good and bad bacteria. That's why they say to take probiotics when you are on antibiotic therapy.

She was staying at my parents house in Pennsylvania and my sister took her to the vet because she acted so lame and actually fell down the stairs. She was treated with a month of doxycycline and her titer decreased from 175 to 133. She had another round about 6 months after that and it decreased to 100.

Not sure if I’m still infected with chlamydia or if it’s just inflammation from taking so many antibiotics. I started taking probiotics and using hydrocortisone and cloritimazole cream for itching. I haven’t been sexually active since the day I got tested and treated. What should I do? Please help any advice is helpful.

She recently tested me for Lyme disease just to rule it out and what do ya know, it came back positive. In the beginning of March, I had a weekend where I felt like I could not move, no energy.

I read last nt that the antibiotic he is on, Doxycycline Hyclate has this happen a lot if you do not drink a lot of water with it AND sit upright for 30 min after, neither which he did the other night. I read that it irritates the esophagus when this haopens. I gave him Tums last night and he started taking Zantac today. He said that it is not burning as much but is just pretty bothersome when swallowing. Anyone know of anything else to do for this or how long this will last? Thanks!

Blood work is mostly normal but sed rate is high, 67 and my hgb dropped from 13 to 10 over three weeks. Wbc normal. Cxr normal. Been on ceftin for three weeks and started doxycycline yesterday. Any ideas???

would that be why for the past few months i have had yeast/fungal issues, they come and go in my groin and under stomach and arm area, and little yeast bumps on body?

I knew that any of the Tetracycline antibiotics, and especially Doxycycline, could have gastro side effects, and I stuck with the pills, after contacting my GP who prescribed them. I finished the course, and after three weeks, my digestive system still hadn't normalized. My GP then put me on a 10 day course of Nexium (a proton pump inhibitor) in case I had an ulcer. I took one 40mg tablet per day, as instructed, but this didn't seem to make any difference.

I’ve been on a round of Doxycycline and a round of azithromyacin and neither one has worked. I have lots of abdominal pain daily. I also have lots of white discharge inside, and a very slight itch occasionally. Please help if you found a solution.

I was taking 300 mg per day and yes, I am taking probiotics. How long did you take the Doxy before those symptoms improved? My joints were actually throbbing and even my feet were itching. So do you think it's a herx or is it just a matter of the body getting use to the medication? I read the side effects of doxy and some of these symptoms are listed under adverse reactions which concerns me.

I took a 7 day course of doxycycline, 7 day course of metronidazole, shot of penicillin g, and a shot of Ceftriaxone.

I began using probiotics and candex (natural remedies) with some relief. Then in May it was back with a vengenance. He then thought UTI, and prescribed Cipro, with minimal results. I went back in and now Dr. says it's Urethritis. I took a 1 day 1000mg of zithro and have 4 more days of 100 2x day of doxy to take, but I still have slight burning. Is this normal and when will I be able to pee without feeling pain??? Do I need something stronger?

Does anyone else get incredible inflammation in the intestines and chest/lungs from taking probiotics? This is the 2nd time its happened. The first time was with culterelle and it got so bad and to the point I was crying all day at work, almost couldn't walk and breath...... it subsided when I stopped taking them....... sometimes a probiotic will add a prebiotic called FOS and for quite a few folks that can cause gas and bloating.

They symptoms of bacterial infection ( urge to frequently urinate and unable to pass adequate urine, dribbling, burning and itching) had vanished after I took Niftran, Dio-1 and Fole 150 but now they seem to have appeared again. I constantly feel the urge to urinate but could pass only a little and I tend to dribble too. Its usually wet/leaky near and inside vagina.
