My dermatologist prescribed to me Doxycycline on the 6th for acne. It is 150 mg tabs once a day for 2 mos. I have been taking it for 4 days and I would like to stop taking it because I've had awful acid reflux/heartburn. Is it okay to just stop taking it and wait until I can schedule an appt with her.Thank you!

I started taking the new pack two days late, and then three days into it, I was put on the antibiotic doxycycline. That antibiotic made me sick so I was put on Augmentin. In the past couple of days, the dose of Augmentin was increased. (I have been on antibiotics for 3 weeks now) Now I'm experiencing some light bleeding when I wipe, it started off barely visible and pink, but after intercourse it was a little heavier and brown (still only when I wipe.
He said my prostate is little tender and diagnosed it as urithritis. He prescribed Doxycycline 100mg (2 tabs day). I have been taking it for 12 days. No improvement in the symptoms. Burning sensation in the anal area was not there before I started Doxycycline. Before going to the Urologist, I went to my primary care physician. She prescribed 2 tabs of Zythromycin 500mg and 1 tab of Cipro 500 mg. That did not help so I went to see Urologist. I have had digestive issues for the past 8 months.
information was that some people do get ulcers and gastritis from using Doxycycline. Now there is a study published on Doxycycline and ulceration, which has three cases studies. Also there are warnings that if you don't take enough water with the Doxycycline it can cause an ulcer in the esophagus or that if you don't take it with food it can cause gastritis. One final thing that I found was in an Acne.
I had gone to our family doctor over a period of about a year, in 2006, during which time I was given Keflex, Doxycycline, Cipro, Augmentin and a Clindamycin topical gel, (which actually seemed to accelerate and spread the infection on my face in the shaving area), and nothing seemed to do any good. The pimples do seem to get better if you break them open and remove the hair follicle, but I have had some linger for weeks if you don't get every single hair out of the pimple.

March 2nd began taking 100mg each 12hrs of doxycycline. Next 3 days all symptoms cycled from not as bad to really bad again, and 3rd day added symptoms of upper chest pain down center with 'quarter' sized areas of more intense pain on either side of chest bone, and lots of mucus that wouldn't come up,wheezing. After 5 days felt getting better, went out for day, by evening as bad as before plus fatique. Continued the doxycycline, vitaimins, rest, but very ill with all symptoms.
A couple days into having no medication I began to feel sick to my stomach. This eventually turned into heartburn, loss of appetite, and diarrhea, followed by joint pain. My resting heart rate had started to slow down, but about a week after being off meds started to increase, probably because I was in an extreme flare up (at least that's what it seems like to me). I had seen my rheumatologist during this, and he was extremely unhelpful.
A doctor diagnosed me with GERD/acid reflux, so I'm taking Pariet which if it has worked hasn't done much, I really feel this is the wrong diagnosis, as I have no heartburn and I don't cough in bed. I get a little bit of pain in the chest (nothing major), when I do a really intense exercise session I'll cough up a lot for an hour or two. But general exercise doesn't affect me. I got a second opinion and the doctor thought it could be a mild case of Bronchitis.
Right now I have kind of Red Rashes on top of penis, Irritated Urethral Meatus, Burning sensation during urination, Skin itching - urticaria (mild) (mostly on arms, legs, and neck), Eyes irritation (Pink-eye), Throat and stomach discomfort (like-heartburn), Sore throat - scratchiness in the throat (mild), Heat sensation on genital area and face, Lower back discomfort (muscular soreness), Genital area discomfort (mild pain).
Anyway because I was very scared I told a doctor to prescribe me a shot of Ceftriaxone 1g and 28 days of doxycycline to get rid of a possible syphilis infection.I started the medication and after I took a test (RPR) and it was negative and since the sore throat was just an ordinary strep-throat my medications did not treat it. The next day I went to another doctor and got 2 shots of penicillin and azithromycin 250mg/twice a day.
Drugs other than Levaquin, prescribed for the treatment of prostatitis, include Bactrim, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, carbenicillin, nitrofurantoin, and tetracyclines like doxycycline. You may not be able to take ciprofloxacin as it is of the same group as Levaquin and may cause an allergic reaction as well. You will need to discuss the option of treatment with these antibiotics with your urologist. The course of treatment may last for 6-8 weeks or longer depending on the infective organism.
Started with intense pain in my left groin and sort of like electricity pulsing between my left groin and testis to the left lower back. . Went to doctors, I took STD test all were neg.I took Doxycycline one for 7 days than 4 weeks later another 3 weeks of dyxocycline .Another month later 4 weeks on cipro and than a month later I took 10 days of Amoxicillin TEV. My symptoms have improved within time, very slowly though.
Urologist did physical examination and ruled out inguinal hernia. To convince me the urologists prescribed medicines like cipro, doxycycline, levofloxacin etc, but they never worked. I believe the mild inguinal adenopathy is causing all this constant pain for the last 2 years. Is there a possibility of neoplasm - benign or malignant? When urologists are unable to treat my pain, who is the right specialist I need to look for? Please help.. This pain is really killing me.
I had one Azithromycin left from months ago (totally unrelated to STD) and so I thought at day one it might have a good chance of taking care of gonorrhea. I also had 3 Doxycyclines left from a good few months ago (2 month treatment for lymes) and took them day2 in case I may have been exposed to chlamydia. Not that the symptoms matched or enough time has passed, fear just took over and I thought since it would be so recent it might take care of it at that point.
-Doxycycline hyclate 100mg tablets (2 tabs daily) -Continued with the nasal spray and inhaler -Did a salt water rinse for mouth sores 10 days later I felt little to no change- sores were gone but my cough was worse. It felt like there were scabs in my throat (this had happened 6 years ago and lasted a lot longer and was so bad that I couldn’t even swallow but the Dr.

i discussed this with him and he said if i'm allergic to doxy, there's going to be a big problem in treating me since i am sensitive to every other class of meds that treats lyme. well, it appears as though i am also sensitive to doxycycline since after taking my 3rd dose a few hours ago, my tongue started tingling and swelling a bit. i had benadryl on hand and took it right away. i will call the LLMD tomorrow a.m. to discuss the issue. i am SO bummed. for a million different reasons.

First had Cephalexin, didnt work, then had doxycycline, didnt work, and then had metronidazole. Still have my throat problem, going to specialist. Anyways, on my last cycle of pills on day 7 started noticing the red pimple like bumps all over my chest which weren't there ever before. Then I also started generalized itching not where the spots are. Also wondering if this has anything to do with the long antibiotic use?

Do you think you can talk your regular doctor into more antibiotics, preferably doxycycline? Before I got to an LLMD, I talked my GP into giving me doxycycline which can be for skin problems ( I had Bartonella lesions). That started me herxing immediately.
After being on this for a week and my throat getting worse, my doctor switched me to a 'cycline' (Doxycycline Hyclate) and about four days into the prescription I developed the "Orange coated tongue". I use a tongue scraper daily (for years now) and never had this before. My tonge has returned to normal (white, sometimes a trace yellow). What I HAVE changed drastically is my diet, I am suffering from acid reflux so bad that I have been eating very little and lots of yoghurt.
Since I've had acid reflux problems in the past (in the form of heartburn) I thought I'd try cutting out all of the acidy food/drink in my diet. So last week I stopped drinking coffee/tea in the morning and the one glass of (red) wine I usually have every evening. Wouldn't you know it! Within two days the smoke smell was gone! It's been a week now and the smell hasn't come back. It worked for me.....you might want to give it a try.
I'll tell you my story... About a year ago, I was having heartburn symptoms every night. Treated it with Alka Seltzer. This went on for a few months. Then, the heartburn went away, and I began being short of breath. (I didn't put the two together). Went to the ER-all tests came back fine. Shortness of breath continued and I began seeing a multitude of docs to remedy it.
Finall y got a friend (ER Dr) to prescribe antibiotics (Doxycycline), fever gone w/in 24 hours, back to tx. ANYWAY, just got a call from gastro yesterday. Results from the 2nd round of bloodwork showed somewhat elevated RA factor. They've got me seeing a Rheumatologist Tuesday. Now am scared to death about having yet another chronic illness. Questions: Could the test be wrong? Could whatever bacteria caused the fever have affected the RA factor? Anyone else experience this? Have RA from tx?
