Doxycycline and gonorrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Doxycycline and gonorrhea

doryx

Doxy can be used to treat chlymida and gonorrhea. No guarantee that is would clear it though. If symptoms keep up see a Dr.
see your doctor. and realize that you canNOT treat all STDs and that MDs do NOT have good tests for all STDs. some STDS we just call em when we see them. so they can say "i don't think you have herpes" but then you could have it. unless they do a blood test and for men, then don't have a test for HPV...
Ive been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 days, and the discharge has not gone away at all.. may have even worsened. My vagina hurts excruciatingly every time I pee. How long till the pain and discharge goes away?
He said it was unlikely and put me on doxycycline to clear whatever it is up, thank you for the reassurance, will go get checked at clinic for peace of mind
i recently went to the doctor and got a shot of rocephin for gonorrhea, and i recieved doxycycline as well to take. my question is i told the doc i think it might have enetered the bloodstream and he assured me that the shot and the pills would clear it up if it had? is this correct? or does it have to be treated intravenously when its in the bloodstream?
) Gonorrhea can lie dormant in the body (be asymptomatic, and indeed a lot of men for example do not exhibit symptoms of gonorrhea). Since you had unprotected sex and experienced symptoms of gonorrhea, the antibiotics you received should clear the infection. However Gonorrhea is not the only STD out there. I would suggest you do a full panel of bacterial STD screening for: Chlamydia, UreaPlasma, Mycoplasma, Trichomoniasis and Gonorrhea (again to confirm its gone).
Suspecting it as gonorrhea (thru reading the net), I self medicated with doxycycline 100mg taken twice for 7 days. The discharge was gone after 4 days (continued the medication till the 7th day). I never had sex with anybody during these period. Aug. 31, 2012 I had protected sex with my girlfriend and after 6 days, discharge from my organ showed up again. So I finally decided to go to a doctor to have it checked.
Dear Doc, I was diagnosed with a positive gonorrhea last May 30, 2005 and went back to the ER again on June 5th..and the test came out negative before they gave me a antibioctic shot on my buttocks and doxycycline pills for 7 days. The thing i don't understand is that my husband's test came out negative. And he too was wondering why mine came out positive. He swore to me that he has no other sexual activites outside our marriage and so do i. After being diagnosed with gonorrhea on may 30th...
I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?
I saw improvement after my tenth day, and my wife and other partner have both been symptom free as well. I had both urine cultures and dna amplification done for gonorrhea and chlamydia, with totally clean results. I've been free of any symptoms as well five days after unprotected sex with my wife. Can I assume it was nothing bacterial? All of my complaints were in line with chlamydia, aside from the unusually long incubation time and failure to rapidly improve from antibiotics.
The doxycycline you took would cure most gonorrhea, all chlamydial infections, and NGU. If you had been exposed to syphilis, the doxycycline would have prevented that too. Finally, the pimple that you developed during therapy does not sound at all like an STI either. My advice is not worry further. There is no need for further testing or therapy.
I'm male by the way. I have tested TWICE for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea and came clean and one test for NGU which I came clean. I was first given Zithromax 1.5g over three days which helped the discomfort in my urethra. In addition to the irritable urethra, there was a strong burning sensation on the surface of the glans and part of my foreskin. Due to this burning on the glans, I have been using Clotrimazole 1% cream for over three weeks now and it's slowly helping but it still gets irritated.
either ceftriaxone (Rocephin) or doxycycline would abort incubating syphilis, and the two together guarantees syphilis would be eradicated. I suggest you lay off the internet. You're obviously very anxious about all this, and in that state of mind you will only find information to inflame and prolong your fears. All is well; nothing bad is going to come from this.
My husband gave me chlamydia and gonorrhea 8 months ago , we both got treated and things were okay. We both got ceftriaxone for the gonorrhea. For the chlamydia, i was treated with zithromax and he took doxy twice a day for 7 days. Everything was okay. Then he developed penile discharge and tingling 2 weeks ago and now his test PCR DNA probe is positive again for chlamydia. He swears he did not cheat on me again.
Doxy treatment for most bacterial infections (gonorrhea, chlamydia, ureaplasma, mycoplasma and Trichomoniasis) is 100 mg pills, every 12 hours (or 2 pills per day) for 7 days in a row. The treatment your husband received should be adequate in getting rid of the infection (if he had it).
I have scoured this site and spoken with someone at Planned Parenthood, and the only STD that it might be would be gonorrhea - and Dr. HHH had mentioned that Doxycycline would take care of that condition as well. Thanks so much.
And to add to that, doxycycline does not treat ALL std's
hello, I had protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex with a random person I met one night (female) and 6 days later i got tested for STD's (gonorrhea, chlamydia, Herpes 1 &2 and HIV) which all came back negative, but as the week went on i began having increasing pain in my scrotum/penis until this past tuesday it became so bad that i went to the ER they tested for torsion which i didn't have and diagnosed Epidiymitis due to the pain which i know can be caused by STD's there was no vi
So I was prescibed Doxycycline, 14 tablets, 2 per day for 7 days. I'm on day 3 of taking them and while the intensity of the itching has lessened, it's still there. Still have the slight clear discharge. I'm just wondering if the medicine is working. They also gave me an injection the day I started treatment. Will this clear up in the 7 days or is it looking unlikely at this point? I'm trying to get this out of me. I'm likely to never have sex again!
I, however, am a worrier when it comes to sexual health, and took myself along to a local GUM clinic, 3 days after the encounter, was tested, (came back negative) and also received two tablets (I am unsure what these were) to treat gonorrhea just in case, and also 7 days worth of doxycycline. My first question would be is 3 days long enough to get an accurate reading? And also, if I did indeed briefly have these two infections, would I now be clear of them?
I then took doxycycline for a month (2x / day) and had cure. Doxycycline makes me very sensitive to the sun and I much prefer Zithromax if possible. So my question is, if my only choices for Chlamydia were doxycycline vs. Zithromax and I preferred Zithromax over a longer period of time (since for me 1g didn't work); what would be the proper dosage for what period of time? Would it be 500 mg for 10 days (I have seen something like this before)?
Hi, I was just wanting to know the best treatment option to definitely eradicate all traces of Chlamydia and Gonorhea. I have had ongoing epididymo-orchitis issues and think it may be related. Is this treatment option: Ceftriaxone 500mg im stat (make up with 2ml lignocaine 1% or as per data sheet) plus doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 14 days Better or worse than this treatment: Ceftriaxone 500mg im stat (make up with 2ml lignocaine 1% or as per data sheet) plus azithromycin 1g.

She was given Rocephin and Azithromyocin, and I was given Rocephin and Doxycycline. I wasn't given Rocephin until after my bacterial culture revealed it Gonorrhea and not Chlamydia, but Doxycyline cleared my symptoms within 4 hours. (Obviously) I finished my 10 day course of treatment. We waited about four weeks after we were treated before resuming sexual activity.
that I had conntact with someone who had Syphyllis, and I needed to be tested. So I went in and got tested, since I had to wait for my test results they put me on Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg 1 capsule twice a day. My test results for all STD'S came back negative, except for anal gonorrhea. Will the same antibiotic be efective for the gonorrhea? I have been taking it for a week, and have 1 week to go. Also can this being anal affect my wife and should she be checked as well?
I went to the community clinic last week because I started to have gono/chlamydia symptoms. I saw an APRN who based on my description of the symptoms put me on Doxycycline 100mg for 7 days. Of course I also got tested for everything (Idk the results yet). What is concerning me is that, I began to take the antibiotics last Wednesday, and the symptoms went away about 2 days later, so I was really happy.
A couple of days back, after having unprotected sex, I started having burning sensations while urinating, and also thick yellowish discharge from my penis. I commenced a 7 day treatment with Cipro and Doxycycline. I completed the treatment about 3 days ago, but I still have discharge(though less thick and not as plentiful), and a slight discomfort when I urinate and when I get an erection. How long does it take for the symptoms to disappear, and did I take the wrong medication?
The transient burning on urination is consistent with gonorrhea or NGU, but either of these usually causes obvious penile discharge; and the combination of cefixime (Suprax) and doxycycline would cover these possibilities, in addition to chlamydia. The symptoms came on too soon for syphilis (10-14 days minimum); and even if that were it, the antibiotics would have cured it before the infection even got started.
My question for you is could I have contracted an STD like gonorrhea from that limited oral sex encounter and passed it to my partner while I was asymptomatic and on antibiotics... If so could she have been asymptomatic all this time and passed it to me? If not then could this be something she contracted without me? I need to figure this out.
