All the symptoms that your daughter is having are clearly a sign of doxycycline allergy.Doxycycline is not related to amoxicillin and sulfa drugs as it belongs to a different category of drugs(tetracyclines).Side effects of doxycycline are headache, dizziness, blurred vision, body aches, flu symptoms,skin rashes,chest tightness,respiratory difficulty,nausea,vomiting etc.
There is no connection between amoxicillin and Hepatitis C. Sorry you relapsed. What treatment were you on?
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
s son had the same rash and his doctor prescribed him amoxicillin 3x/day and said it had to be AT LEAST 14 days for lyme treatment. I looked online and that is what I found also. I am concerned my son was not on antibiotics long enough and that symptoms will show up later when it is harder to treat. Should I call the doctor back and try to get him on another 14 days of treatment or would that be too late at this point? Please any advice would be appreciated.
right after i stopped taking the doxycycline i went to the dentist for a bad cavitity on my back tooth and got amoxicillin 500mg 3x a day for 10 days. it is possible that those meds not only cleared up what they were prescribed for but the std as well? i have researched them both and they both have been prescribed for std's chlamydia and gonorrhea. i am still taking the amoxicillin, i just started it. please any answers will be greatly appreciated.
I took some anti-inflammatory meds along and a pill of amoxicillin. The burning immediately went a way almost immediately(couple hours), Could this be an Std of some sort. I know it's not smart take meds without being evaluated first.
*Cefuroxime axetil -- Oral alternative that may be effective in amoxicillin and doxycycline failures. Useful in EM rashes co-infected with common skin pathogens. Adults and pregnancy: 1g q12h and adjust. Children: 125 to 500 mg q12h based on weight.
Tetracycline -- Adults only, and not in pregnancy. 500 mg tid to qid
Erythromycin -- Poor response and not recommended.
Azithromycin --
--Adults: 500 to 1200 mg/d.
PS your doc sounds like s/he is on the ball -- that's good! If you would share with us what you learn about whether amoxicillin is as effective as doxy, that would be very interesting --

I was told by a doctor I might have a chest infection so she put me on 500mg of amoxicillin three times a day. I'm also on diazepam for muscle spasms and anxiety. I cannot remember is she said it was ok go take them both together.
If ok to take together this will put my mind at rest and stop me panicing.
With joint pain. My doctor tested me for Lyme disease and it was positive. I took doxycycline For 12 Days till I developed a mild rash on my face. My doctor took me off and put me on amoxicillin for 2 more weeks.
My question is if I have contacted syphilis from this exposure would all these antibiotics cure it? And would an 95 day hiv negative oral swab be considered conclusive? Please help put my fears behind me.
I was taking amoxicillin for tooth problem. On the second day I started having full bladder with difficulty to urinate and clear discharge symptoms. The Dr. told me since I was on antibiotic I could'nt take a urine test. He asked me to finish the 7 day amoxicillin and after gave me 1g zithro and cipro for 14 days. On the 14 day I still have a few symptoms. My question is if it was chlamydia - gonorrhea would this have cured it? Please advise..
The best antibiotic is probably amoxicillin or clindamycin. Ciprofloxacin would work. I don't usually prescribe bactrim. I don't really prescribe ciprofloxacin either.
The vet tried 4 different antibiotics ( amoxicillin, then rilexine then Zeniquin and last doxycycline) and none have cleared the infection. After the doxycycline in liquid form my dog has been vomiting constantly. He can’t seem to swallow comfortably anymore. Even water seems to be a problem. His breath is very acidic. I tried to give him food through the syringe but he vomits everything, even after water. I gave him subq to keep him hydrated.

This article reads to me as trying carefully to reframe the current so-called 'mainstream' view of why those who are supposedly cured (after a few weeks of doxycycline) continue to have symptoms of Lyme.
The so-called 'mainstream' view held by the CDC and IDSA is that after the standard treatment for Lyme, any continuing symptoms are due to an over-active immune system reacting to a now-gone Lyme infection.
Huh. This is an interesting dilemma, because Amoxicillin and Aciphex are sometimes used together to treat certain types of recurrent stomach ulcers associated with the H. pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy.
t wait around for ever before I had to have sex with my wife, On Thurday, I started taking doxycycline 100 mg 12 hours apart and amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times per day. On Monday, I was tested again and everything was negative. I never stopped taking the doxy and amoxy and I was planning on continuing to complete 7 days on these antibiotics. Receiving unprotected oral sex is lower risk than unprotected vaginal or anal sex.
You can get gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and genital herpes type 1 (if you don't already have oral herpes type 1.
Syphilis is uncommon in most developed countries. I wouldn't worry much about that. You can test for that at 6 weeks if you feel the need to.
You can test for hsv1 if you want, but the hsv1 IgG blood test is unreliable and misses 30% of infections.

I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

She was limping for a few days and then it stopped and came back. We gave her an aspirin and it made her very sick, so we took her to vet and the the vet did a blood test that came back positive for Lyme. He gave us Amoxacilin and a med to settle her stomach. My problem is this, She is limping much worse today then she was on Monday. She is eating but not as much previous to Lyme. I lost a Saint to Lyme 8 years ago and do not want to lose another. She is such an awesome dog.
I've had weird heart symptoms and anxiety after taking 3 g of leftover amoxicillin. It started with the anxiety and a heavy, fast heart rate. I've never had anxiety before, so this was alarming to me. I felt like I was always conscious of my breathing too, which made it feel like it was harder to breathe. Then I started getting chest pain and pain in my left arm, near the elbow, as well as slight numbness in my left hand fingers. These symptoms lasted throughout the night.
The doctor put me now on flagyl and Amoxicillin. He told me that one of the serious side eefects can be numbness (from Flagyl I think) and that I should stop immediately. Last night I began the treatment (4 times a day 250mg pills). I woke up with a light pain/numbness on my left arm, with a tickling feeling occasionally on my left palm. I would really like to continue this drug as I have read positive things about it, and also because I have lost faith on Doxycycline.
