I have a very raw almost a burning feeling at all times that seems to be more noticable after my menstruation....and also, I already took 3 doses of 2g metronidazole total, one in february once they told me I had bacterial vaginosis, one in march and the last one a month ago when they noticed a possible trichomonads in my wet mount. I am desperate..any advice would be really appreciated..
I have an std called Trich treatment of trichomoniasis, a single dose of 2,000 mg may be used after a meal. Various other doses exist according to the infection being treated. I was listening to the dr and what he told me, take ALL the MG at once He said not to devide it so did the pharmasist who I got the meds from. I am shaking now and terrified!!!
Also I read that when people have this hard of time getting rid of it an option for them is to get an iv dose of metronidazole. Is that true? And should I ask the dr about that? And am I going to die from this?
Oral metronidazole is the treatment of choice and is given either in a single high dose or in divided doses for 5-7 days. If you are not satisfied about your diagnosis or treatment it is advisable to discuss your concerns with your treating doctor. A review of your clinical symptoms and investigations may be helpful. Do write to us again. Take care and regards!
IV doses of both metronidazole and tidazole have not been shown to increase their effectiveness. Oral dosing is still preferred as the treatment route. High doses of these drugs can be toxic. If you have a resistent strain of trichomonas, there are ,unfortunately, no good further options for treatment. Some trichomonas infections will resolve over time. I wish you luck with this.
I was treated for trichomoniasis with metronidazole the past week. Now I am have a milkly discharge with no order or irritation. Have the trichomoniasis return or is it yeast infection due to the antibotic? I had no sexaul encounters in the past 2 months.
Have you been tested for Trichomoniasis? It is a commonly-overlooked cause of urethritis in men due to the fact that it is often asymptomatic. It is reported by the CDC to be the most common curable STI in the U.S., with an estimated 3.7 million people infected (although only 30% are symptomatic). Since Trichomoniasis is usually treated with the antibiotic Metronidazole, the antibiotics that you have taken would not have cleared the infection if you do indeed have it.
, in the meantime i took a course of azithromycin ( 1g, single dose), cefixime ( 400mg, single dose), metronidazole ( 2g, in 2 doses). the itching went away for 4-5 days. then again it was there and on observing (after scratching) found white, somewhat powdery deposition on the glans under the foreskin. washed it with warm water mixed with dettol. got relief for a couple of days. then again the itching, same deposition, but much less.
I tested negative for everything (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis.) During these visits I have been given doses of azithromycin (twice), doxycycline and metronidazole. However, when I was back at home during the Xmas break, I tested positively for thrush (I have also been experiencing balanitis, although that seems to have cleared up after using canesten.
At the moment of occurrence of a problem I in huge doses was treated for a trichomoniasis by droppers Kliona (metronidazole) and tablets fazigin ornaksogin. It was thus very bad.
I didn't get checked for this. Instead I took 14 days of Doxyclycine and 1 dosage of Ciprofloxacin(i know you are meant to take about 250mg and CDC recommend 500mg but i took a 750mg pill. After a few days all the symptoms went away. i then went out on a friends brithday and got very drunk. then next morning with a hang over i began to get a twitching pain in the urethra. The discharge has still totally finished.

doses of three medicines in tablet form - Azithromycin for chlamydia, Metronidazole for trichomoniasis / gardnerella and Levaquin for chlamydia / gonorrhea. The doctor decided not to give me any tests for STI's. I took the Azithromycin on Wednesday afternoon, the Metronidazole on Wednesday evening and the Levaquin on Thursday afternoon.
I had the same problem Michael, the only thing that worked was triple doses of lymecycline per day with metronidazole, so many antibiotics that I nearly got a heart attack. This is very difficult to treat. please let me know if you have managed to get treated. if not, message me, we have the same problem.
said I did not have chlamydia, gonorrhea or NGU. They said they did not test for Trichomoniasis as they couldn't do this on a man (apparently Tich rare in UK). They did do a visual exam at the time & said they saw no signs of any warts, lesions or anything else abnormal (except the red meatus). I also bought & took (self prescribed) a 1000mg Azithromycin as a precaution (18th March).I also took fluconazol & cream for thrush for a week which made no difference at all.
Still, clinics rarely test men for it. I wonder what percentage of male urethritis cases are resulting from trichomoniasis after being told they are STD free? Many men are asymptomatic, but some experience soreness, dysuria, and/or discharge. Relax! Its highly curable. Go to the clinic, and lie. Lie your face off. Just say that you know for a fact that your partner caught trich and was treated. You want to get treated to avoid reinfecting her.

I see my infectious diseases specialist soon. Not sure what to ask for as I just went thru 2 week doses of azithro, Augmentin, and Septra. He seems to have no further answers for me. I'm definitely going to ask for treatment for Trich as you suggested. I've read about other classes of antibiotics that might work, but they are either really expensive or only by IV. I'm considering Cipro. have a feeling it will come down to me taking Moxi.
Culture and blood test for herpes was negative as of last month. My OB basically washed their hands of me and told me I had a dry vagina and use replense wipes. I discovered two more of these cuts today and I immediately went to a new OB. She was even worse than my normal one... again pointed towards herpes even though I was tested negative via culture and blood last month. She then said if its not herpes its probably from your labia rubbing together. What kind of a lame excuse is that?
i last posted on this thread in may....i have had a few years of this suffering and no end of examinations for the doctors to find nothing wrong...after a lot of investigations on the net by myself i found the info i needed and went to my doctor to ask if i have VAGINAL ATROPHY and she said yes...at last a diagnosis..she wanted me to go and have an investigation at the hospital and i said no way as ive been poked and prodded for months and i have had enough...
There are no other symptoms that I am aware of. I have had blood work and a biopsy done. Some of the things that I was tested for were; genital herpes, lichen sclerosus, lichen simplex chronicus, lichen planus, vulvar vestibulitis. All results came back negative. The biopsy tested positive for "healing ulcers". My doctor does not seem to know what the problem is and is contacting a specialist in Lebanon, NH. My Dr. prescribed an estrogen cream which did not seem to work.
I have tried some of your remedies, but I was mostly greatful to know that I was not alone. Thank you again for taking your time to write. OK, this Might work for some of you! I have been fighting this horrific vaginal discharge that felt like a second degree burn everytime I went to the bathroom. Sex was excrutiating! My husband is very patient, but this went on for over a YEAR!!!! I tried eveything from yeast infection cures to vinegar - oooh did that burn! I went to the Dr.
I have not tried neurotonin like you suggested but I looked it up and sounds like a great option. Codeine helps relieve pain the most for me, but it's not great for you long-term. I've heard of many people testing negative repetitively for hsv1, which makes it even harder bc the doc really thinks you're crazy then, right!? definitely do a western- it's what we trust in my lab to detect extremely minute protein concentrations.
I did Depoprovera and was fine for a couple of yrs and then had the same issues. Both of my pregnancies with the hormone fluctuations were truely miserable, very sick very sick, bells palsy and even a couple of small strokes....my experience with birth control should have let me know pregnancy would be hell.
