zonegran

1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.
Avatar f tn Have had more workups then you can shake a stick at and getting ready for a tilt table study and updated MRI of Thoracic spine this week. Yipeeeee!!! Wondering if either of the two medications, Zonegran or Topamax would be contradicting with Raynauds Phenomenen. I typically experience low blood pressure on average of 105/65 but took the BP a little while ago and it was 112/78 so not sure if this medication is increasing it or this horrible migraine can raise your BP.
Avatar m tn I DO NOT recommend messing with your dosage but I would definately make sure my dosage is right in oder to get on the right track for weight loss.
1340745 tn?1276393303 Should I really be taking more thyroid medication purely for the purpose of weight loss? If I end up taking too much to treat my thyroid, what side effects should I expect? I will be seeing the doctor again in a month, so we can obviously discontinue this quickly if something bad happens, but I don't even know if a month will be long enough for him to see results. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you!!
Avatar n tn There is never an easy way to lose weight in my experience. Dieting and losing weight is not easy for anyone, but I do understand the particular challenges for diabetics. After going through a few lows, you often just feel like giving up. The one nice thing about diabetes is that it provides you with the basics for a healthy balanced diet, so we already know what we should eat.

614508 tn?1265281722 My understanding from the drug handout is that it is normally prescribed for migraines, seizures and weight loss. My doc has just increased my dosage to 100mg 3x per day. I have experienced some deterioration in my eyesight however I'm not sure if that's attributed to age (hadn't had my eyes examined in 2 years) or the Topamax which I've been on a lower doze for 6 weeks. Other meds: Lithium, Zoloft, Ativan. Any advise would be welcome.
Avatar f tn ) I recently unfortunately had to miss taking my medication for 2 weeks. I was on dosage of 150mg of Levoxyl...I took the pills for a week and then had a appointment/blood work done with my doctor and my dosage was lowered to 137mg of Synthroid (I recently lost 20 pounds so that's why I went down). Anyways, now I've been on this new dosage for about 3 weeks and I'm having side-effects like never before.
Avatar f tn As halbashes said, it would be important to avoid anti-epileptic drugs that sometimes have the side-effect of weight loss or loss of appetite. There are others that tend to cause weight gain, though, such as Depakote (which is also used to prevent migraine headaches). A good neurologist should be able to choose the right drug with the right side effect profile. Obviously, weight gain and/or increased appetite would be desirable.
Avatar n tn I've taken Abilify for yrs. with no weight gain. I've taken Lamital for the last 2 yrs. with no weight gain for the 1st yrs & a 1/2. BUT, have had significant weight gain for the last 6 mths. I've had water weight for the last 6 mth's, but NO one holds that much water *L*. I am seriously in weight/water/gain for the last yr. I'd previously stayed at thhe same weight for 8 yrs with no problem. When I took Zyprexa I had gained 80 lbs though.
Avatar f tn A friend said she took Zonegran for nerve pain and it helped her tremendously. My c ondition now is post herpetic neuraglia left over from shingles in the top of my head, forehead, eyebrow and left eye. have anyone tried Zonegran for post herpetic nueraglia (PHN) and did it help. The Lyrica is now affecting my eyes so I am desperate to get off it. Any answers/experiences are much appreciated. Thanks much.
Avatar n tn Congrats on the weight loss. Levels of "53 and 67" are considered low especially the former. So, yes, it does appear your dosage needs adjustment. Best to consult with the prescribing physician for the correct amount.
Avatar f tn In general, the initial dosage is a 15 mg capsule per day, and your doctor can increase the dosage based on your tolerance to the drug and your weight loss , but the maximum dosage is 30 mg per day.
Avatar f tn I was wondering, at what dosage did you notice a gain or loss of weight? I've read about people either gaining or losing weight, but no one says what dosage they're on. I'm taking 25mg right now and the doc and I were talking of moving me to 50mg. Standing at a whopping 5ft, I of course worry about the weight gain.
Avatar f tn You should be aware, though, that weight loss medications are, typically, not meant for long term use, and while weight loss may result, you risk regaining the weight, as soon as you stop the medication, if you don't adopt a healthy lifestyle. Before you resort to weight loss medication, I might suggest that you first determine if your thyroid hormone dosage is optimal.
Avatar n tn I had the same problem with weight loss during tx. I have only gained 5 lbs of it back since stopping tx 3 1/2 months ago. Way too thin! After the weight loss began I ate a lot of ice cream, cookies, cakes, chips, pancakes, pasta, peanut butter sandwiches, etc and all foods with high calorie content. It did not help much and I did manage to gain a few lbs, but I strongly feel eating that way kept me from losing more weight.
Avatar n tn Hello, Over the summer, I started having symptoms of hyperthyroid (anxiety, heart palpiltations, insomnia, weight loss). My tsh in my bloodwork came back low (.3 i think) They retested me a couple weeks later and it was within range (.6 i believe). The symptoms cleared, but recently I noticed a few returning - got tested again and now tsh is borderline (.45). My doc said to get tested again in 6 months. All my other levels are in range, but in some cases barely.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a mom of a type 1 child, and the daughter of a type 2 diabetic. I know that from experiences with my daughter it was hard for her to gain weight. When she was diagnosed the endo wanted her to gain 5 pounds. It took her over year. I have a sitter that is a type one diabetic, she needed to lose weight.
Avatar n tn html There are many success stories of people losing weight on topamax. If you read the side effects, weight loss is one of them. It helps suppress the desire to eat even smoking which I have quit too. I have had all blood tests ran on me. I've been going to my doctor for 10 years. I like how you just jump to conclusions without doing any research. For anyone else who has any experience using this please write.
Avatar m tn I am going to be skillfully insistent to still get on some kind of treatment for this because of the fact of my high cholesterol and fluctuating blood pressure could be solved by thyroid medicine to get those numbers lower. What do you think Barb135? With these numbers does it sound like (as it does to me) that Im Subclinical Hypo? and Meds will help bring it within normal ranges (even lower, Id like to see 1.0-2.0 personally). what are your thoughts?
1303966 tn?1296740010 I have a history of complex migraine, but I'm on zonegran so they are controlled. I also take the zonegran because of seizures. I personally think my seizures have something to do with my migraines (migralepsy). I just started having them at 40 after having steady headaches and migraine symptoms. Anyways, today it is rainy and typically this weather is bad for my migraines, but I don't have a headache, but I feel a little weird.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Phenterrmine for 3 months and after needing to up the dosage have been loosing 1-2 pounds per week. I have 2 months left of the prescription and am very happy with how I feel. More energy, reduced appetite, better will power. I have 80 more pounds that I want to lose and am very worried about what to do when the prescription runs out. My doctor has suggested switching to another weight loss drug, possibly Qysmia Belviq, or Saxenda. Wondering what others have done.
