Avatar n tn I have a long history of depression, SA, GAD and PMDD. After a lot of years of pushing through I made the decision to use an antidepressant. I was given 20mg of Lovan 7 months ago, I had the 4 - 6 weeks of dry mouth, increased anxiety, insomnia and jitters but when they subsided the Fluoxetine (Lovan) worked to a certain degree. 7 weeks ago I quit smoking and after 2 weeks anxiety and depression increased again. I returned to the doctor who increase the fluoxetine (Lovan) to 40mg.
Avatar f tn I've been on wellbrutrin sr 150 bid for almost 10 years for pmdd. the neurologist thinks it is the cause of my tremor and would like to change rx or stop taking it. I'm not past menpause yet. How do I know if I still need this drug for pmdd or if thew pmdd was just a transitional problem?
Avatar f tn please let me know if the dosage i am taking i.e. 1/4 of 20 fluoxetine and 5mg olanzapine combo and 3/4 lorazepam is high or low.

Avatar f tn About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
Avatar m tn I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn this reminded me of a product out thats extremely expensive called sarafem for the treatment of PMDD. Sarafem is a brand for fluoxetine which is just prozac and as a generic, it's only $4 at the pharmacy i work at. but some doctors write scripts for sarafem which is insanely expensive compared to the $4 fluoxetine. anyway, don't know that anything i said helps other than pointing out how drug companies like to rip people off.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply, but I do know the side effects of Fluoxetine. I'm trying to fix the side effects...
Avatar n tn Come to think of it, it has been 22 days. For the past 22 days, I have been having some awful dizzy spells. When I say dizzy, I don't mean lightheaded or faint. I mean it literally feels like the world is moving when it's not. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? And if so how long did it take for it to pass? I experienced this with Effexor, previously, and it took exactly one month for it to pass. I'm just looking for some motivation to keep going!
Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar f tn i am taking 80 mg fluoxetine plus 45 - 60 mg buspirone and i was wondering if there is reason for concern about serotonin syndrome with such a cocktail at those dosages. if it's a bad idea to be taking so much of the both of them, it's not necessarily a big deal for me to d/c them as i still lay in bed all day! -- but what's next? thanks...
Avatar f tn When you skip a few days on fluoxetine and you are thinking of taking all of them, the thing to do is to call your doctor and tell him exactly what you posted here. With fluoxetine, he or she will want to know that dosages were skipped, for how long, what was the reason or circumstance of skipping, and then, the dr. will figure out if it is a good fit for you or if it is long enough of a skipped episode to start you on low dose or whatever.
Avatar f tn My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.
Avatar f tn Many times, the treatment for PMDD is an antidepressant, so in a sense, if the period is causing some of your anxiety, you're on the right track, I just personally would have liked to have seen you try the Lexapro versus the Zoloft (just my opinion). Also, sometimes (not uncommonly actually), people who once tolerated a certain medication pretty well, have a much harder time adjusting to it during subsequent courses of treatment. That happened to me with Lexapro.

Avatar n tn Hi, Only a health professional can advise you on medication dosage. Everyone is different. Some of us find 10mg enough to help, others 50, 150 or more. Talk to the doctor at your review, and he will discuss your medication. Have you not been advised how much to take?
Avatar m tn For dosage information of prescription medicine, please consult with your doctor. Contraindication: MAOIs, pimozide. Patients in manic phase. Pregnancy. Precaution: Monitor patients for risk of suicidality. Screening for bipolar disorder; serotonin syndrome or neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS)-like reactions; abnormal bleeding; hyponatremia; activation of mania/hypomania; diabetes; discontinuation of treatment.
Avatar n tn s almost over. My question to you is if fluoxetine (she may have bipolar) is taken for several years at the same dosage, would this outburst (which just happened recently, her slumps of being very unhappy and depressed) be caused by the dose? Meaning, could it help if she was to up her dose, or change medications? I don't want to see them break up, they were very happy. I am not fully aware of this disorder and know it can take years to diagnose.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any natural alternatives for pre-menopause, or pmdd? I've tried evening primrose and no luck. Don't think I am ready for HRT, but I've read things about the natural stuff, but I am so skeptical......it took a lot for me to even give the melatonin a try......and it did work, but I am very skeptical when it comes to thomas recipe, amino acids, and all the rest of that stuff. Does anyone know anybody who has tried the natural stuff and it worked for them?
Avatar m tn Hey, I have been taking the generic fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mgs tablets for about 1.5 years now. My pharmacy recently changed manufacturers and the tablets are now blue... I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-...
1063764 tn?1272821064 Niacin is mostly for cholesterol and the heart and blood pressure, while folic acid is essential to proper nervous system functioning, and is in a balance with B6 and B12, which are especially important for mood regulation, to control homocysteine which in overabundance causes inflammation in the blood vessels.
