Avatar n tn So my doc prescribe me fluconazole for a yeast infection I'm currently 30wks pregnant, when I picked it up it had 2 little packets in it with one pill each and doc says to take 1 a day but as I'm reading the instructions it says 1pill clears everything and you only need a 1time dosage. Do I take both pills or just one why would he prescribe me 2 if directions clearly state 1? Any ladies ever had to take for yeast infection while preggo what did your doc prescribe?
Avatar m tn To discuss broadly, your symptoms of a swollen meatus with redness and skin chaffing can be due to meatitis or infection/inflammation of meatus, urethritis or infection/inflammation of urethra or due to balanoposthitis (inflammation of glans penis and foreskin). In all cases the cause can be either a STD or a non-STD infection. If you have been sexually active, then it is important to test for STDs, bacterial vaginosis and fungal infection. Non-STD infections can be either bacterial or fungal.

Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar f tn Is there any home remedies that are safe in pregnancy to get rid of a yeast infection? I have already had it twice ans took that one day pill form of it. Just found out its listed as category c so that kind of annoyed me how my dr just acted like it was completely safe. I also really dont want to shoot medicine up there because it just sounds really difficult... any suggestions??
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn After returning to the doctors they were stumped as to what it could be, with no obvious rash they where skeptical it was fungal but prescribed the fluconazole for 4 weeks as a test to see if it did remove it, I presume this method of fluconazole 50mg for 4 weeks would treat yeast also? No cultures or scrapings have ever been taken, they've referred me to a dermatologist but there's a 2 month wait and no obvious skin issues.
Avatar f tn Anytime you are on a prescription medication and you see a change or something happens, it's best to report it to your doctor so they are aware of what is happening- they will also be able to tell you if it's a side effect or something totally separate. Since fluconazole is used to treat yeast infections- it's not likely the cause, but the doctor should still know that you saw the fungal infection return, despite being on the medication.
Avatar f tn Fluconazole does work on yeast infections as it is an antifungal. Clindamycin is different and is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria, not yeast or fungus. Clindamycin can create a situation in which you get a yeast infection. It's not used to treat a yeast infection but fluconazole is.
869568 tn?1248372915 I think I might have a yeast infection or bacterial infection. I don't know for sure though. I made an appt with my doctor this morning around 10:45am so we'll see. I wondered, though, have any of you ever experienced this during pregnancy? Is this dangerous? I had a yeast infection once before a looooooooooong time ago and was treated with cream; is that safe during pregnancy?
689655 tn?1227249113 So I've had recurring yeast infections for a while now. I seriously get one every month. Sometimes it seems as if the only time I don't have even a slight infection, is when I'm on my period. My doctor prescribed fluconazole. She told me to take one pill each week for 6 months. The prescription information states that I should see results within 3-5 days. It has been 2 weeks now and just as I thought it was completely cleared up, it seems to be returning just slightly again.
Avatar n tn I took fluconazole Monday for bladder yeast infection have some relief , but not 100% better yet. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I unfortunately have a lot of experience with Candida albicans (the most common cause of yeast/fungus infection). When candida proliferates, it can become a serious pathogen affecting any or all of the body's organs. Its favorite foods are antiobiotics, prednisone and sugars. The common fungicide, mentioned above, is usually only briefly effective. After some weeks the condition often returns (because the organisms mutate). It can have really bad side effects.
Avatar f tn I'm 11wks also nd I think I have a yeast infection,, I took a fluconazole pill nd I'm using anti itch cream hopefully it goes away soon !
Avatar m tn Hello, Candida infection is a fungal infection and specific antifungals are required for its treatment. You can try any of the topical antifungals like topical clotrimazole, topical nystatin, fluconazole or topical ketoconazole. Also keep the skin dry and wear cotton undergarments. If the symptoms persist then pls consult a dermatologist as oral antifungals may be needed. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with a yeast infection that will only go away for about a week at best and then it comes right back. I have been to the doctor several times. And have been given fluconazole. I had a swab done after it came back twice, and it is just the normal yeast treatable with fluconazole. Well, it came back a 3rd and 4th time. My pcp gave me a few more pills and told me to take them once a week for a month to see if that was enough to kick it. Well, it’s back, again.
Avatar f tn I think he wanted me to get rid of it fast.
Avatar f tn Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? I'm thinking cranberry juice but should I drink it once in a while or is there another alternative. Because I have to avoid sugar in order to fix my hormonal imbalance.

Avatar f tn I made a doctor appt for that following Wednesday where I was tested. My results came back positive for a yeast infection and negative for everything else...except the herpes blood test. My result was <0.90. According to the graph that was posted with the results, is positive. There was another standard graph that said 0-0.89 was normal. My doctor says I am positive for HSV 1. Can someone please explain to me how she came to that conclusion? I have never had any symptoms of HSV 1...
Avatar n tn Following that I continued to get them on and off, after meeting my boyfriend and now being sexually active I get yeast infection every week. I get the symptoms for a couple of days and then they go away and come back a couple of days later. I have taken Fluconazole over 5 times. I obviously don't go to the doctor every time I feel something because my medical bill would just be insanely high.
Avatar f tn My doctor diagnosed me with a yeast infection two days ago. I took the one pill of Fluconazole she prescribed to me tuesday night. My itching has gone down very very slightly but the discharge and the redness are still in full swing. When should I start to feel better? Also: another question, my period is here so how should I deal with that plus a yeast infection? Any information is greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn Anyone has been prescribe terconazole for yeast infection? I'm 40w + 1day I'm 1ct dilated. Doctor prescribed it to me but I'm concerned to used it. Since I'm due any day now.
Avatar f tn Have any of you ladies taken a single dose of fluconazole 150 mg during pregnancy?
Avatar m tn - Eating good quantities of curd, salad - Debating between taking Fluconazole 150 MG once a week for three weeks or Lamisil 250 MG everyday for one week to cure current infections. - Wearing full sleeve sweatshirt so as to not spread infection. I'll start on the Fluconazole/Lamisil medication today, I might go with Fluconazole as it has worked for me and will be cheaper than Lamisil, and is about as effective but takes a little longer. Please let me know what you think of this.
Avatar m tn A month ago I self diagnosed and treated a yeast infection based on my previous yeast infection (diagnosed by a doctor a few years ago). I treated with Monistat (miconazole)cream, which mostly cleared up my symptoms. I still felt somewhat irritated down there so I went to the doctor. She took a swab sample that came back negative for yeast/bacteria/gonorrhea/chlamydia.I felt fine for 2 weeks, then felt intense burning during intercourse . A few days after that, the itch was back.
Avatar m tn You can buy over the counter antifungal creams specifically for the genital area (ask your pharmacist) or you can purchase a one single dose capsule called Fluconazole that you swallow with water. This should help to rid you of any yeast infections. As a home remedy for fast relief, you can apply live natural set yogurt to your genitals. This will cool down the itchiness and help with any inflammation.
Avatar f tn I got treated for bv and it was what caused the first yeast infection ):
