Common Questions and Answers about Dosage of cymbalta for fibromyalgia

cymbalta

Avatar f tn Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.
Avatar f tn One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
735919 tn?1236444549 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
394774 tn?1235070839 I was taking Lyrica which was increased to the highest dose because it was not working for my fibromyalgia. I had many of the side effects with the high dosage of lyrica including blurry vision so I weaned myself off of it and had about a months worth left if taken once a day. I have recently been prescribed the Cymbalta because I do have depression from being in pain all the time and not being able to do the things that I am used to doing.
Avatar f tn My Dr. just switched me from Effexor XR to Cymbalta. I took my first dose of Cymbalta in the evening, because the script said it caused drowsiness. I was wide awake all night and went to work the following day. Has anyone had a problem with this med at night? Now I'm not taking anything. I'm a mess. Probably going through withdrawals. Please help. I can't reach my doctor.
1023657 tn?1251844941 Some options are - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella. These are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.

Avatar f tn 6 months ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and put on Tramadol ER 200 and 50mg prn for breakthrough. I was also put on Lyrica, which I stopped taking, Concerta, which works very well at a low dose, and Cymbalta 60mg that I take everyday. I stopped taking the Tramadol 2 days ago and feel horrible. I have a script waiting at the pharmacy. Do I go pick it up and taper off or keep going since I'm already this far in? Help me please.
Avatar n tn meds that a lot of doctors tend to try - Cymbalta. How do you find the Cymbalta working for you? Have you noticed it has helped with your pain at all? Have you tried Savella? That also is a "newer" med that is used for fibro. Do you also take a muscle relaxer? If not, you may want to ask your doctor about adding one to your med regime. While I don't find that they help alone, I have found that they can be helpful when added to my other meds. How is your sleep?
4074293 tn?1351896693 Talking to the doctor next week to try something else. I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.
1577364 tn?1296689784 I have found some relief with the cymbalta for the FM. But, I also take other meds such as anti-inflam and muscle relaxants for arthitis and spinal problems, so I dont know if the cymbalta itself is helping with the FM, or if it is the combination of meds. I still have flare-ups of FM, but not as bad. From what I've seen, there isnt one thing that seems to be helpful for the FM. Everyone seems to have a med or combo of meds that helps for them. Good luck.
1205402 tn?1268220272 hi, I am 31 years old and I have had pain all over since this summer and it has gotten worst since the fall. My doctor thinks I have fibromyalgia because my blood tests are normal. For the past 3 nights I ahave been waking up at least 3 to 5 times per night because of pain everywhere. I work full time and I have two small children. It is very difficult for me to try to pace myself to save my energy. I am always tired. What could I do to help?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after many years of tests and nothing definative until the doc decided it was fibro. I have severe pain and some days I can't get out of bedl Please help me help my doc with the most current treatment for fibromyalgia.
602504 tn?1219984096 I take Lyrica for nerve pain, and it is prescribed for fibromyalgia. It works in good synergy with the opiate you are on, too. Give it a try, I take 200mg daily, but you have to start with half of that, it's very strong. Also, you should have them check your lymph glands where your armpits are, to make sure that your arm strength hasn't been affected by infection or cancer spreading to that location.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI which may make a difference for you. I took it for about 2 years and had no side effects.
Avatar f tn I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out. I noticed that my pain increased so for whatever it is worth; it does help in some way.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your input. I, too, have been on Cymbalta 60mg but it made me tired instead of energized. As you said one size does not fit all. I just think that maybe he was put on too high of a dosage with cymbalta. Perhaps at 30 mg. I don't understand because he is used to taking that many valium. Unless it is not agreeing with the norepinephrine part of the med. Thanks for helping. I appreciate it.
Avatar n tn My neurologist said he would not do test after I told him also dizzy and forgetting things. He said it was stress. Also, my "pcp" is treating me for fibromyalgia as far as my legs go. Had tried Cymbalta now on Savella.
Avatar f tn I've been on Cymbalta since it first came out. I take it for my depression and fibromyalgia. I have not had any side effects other than weird abnormal dreams when I was prescribed 60mg. My doctor reduced my dose to 30mg and it works great. I know another drug now being prescribed is Lyrica (gabepentin) for chronic pain. It is now FDA approved to treat Fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn It is hard to say how you will react to any of those medications. For many it is a "trial & error". I used both Gab & Lyrica, but I retained to much fluid in the ankles so dr. took me off of them. For me I just use OTC medications when I need to.
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.
