vomiting

Avatar m tn My dog was vomiting mucus several times a day so I took him to the vet who took 2 xrays, blood and determined he had allergies. She gave him antibiotics, prilosec, benedryl and something else for his stomach which he took for a week. I stopped them after a week and he is throwing mucus up again. I have spent $500. so far. What can i do?
Avatar n tn We have a male rottweiler who in the last month or so has started vomiting mucus, sometimes with a small amount of food in, no blood or anything untoward. He hasnt eaten anything he shouldnt and apart from the vomiting he is fine in himself. He does a slight hacking noise like he is clearing his throat and he seems to throw up after he has been laying down.
Avatar n tn s almost entirely water that she is throwing up the rest is mucus/foam. She is still energetic and keeps trying to play with her toys. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Vomiting will not help with suboxone since it's absorbed through the mucus membranes of the mouth. 1 mg is a HUGE dose for a 10 lb dog, and a dam big dose for an opiate-naive human. Call your regular vet clinic. There should be an outgoing message instructing you what to do in an emergency. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY so please do it now!
4487133 tn?1355332064 My English bulldog has the same problem. He is 12 months old. For last 3 weeks he has vomited randomly every 2-3 days. It is usually at night in his cage or after a nap, and sometimes happens after his last meal was 8 or more hours ago, so one would think his stomach would be empty. He is peeing, pooping (never diarrhea or anything out of the norm), drinking, eating, and playing normally. No lethargy or seeming sick.
1380814 tn?1285965586 About a month ago my dog was throwing up stomach bile like once or twice a week, then it stopped for a while. I tried to get my mom to take her to the vet but she didn't think it was anything to worry about. Lately she's been puking up nothing, like she dry-heaves and makes a coughing noise as she does it. But she's still her normal-self, hyper and energetic. She vomited today and there was blood in it, even though it was barely noticeable. Is this serious?

Avatar f tn My dog has vomited at least 10 times within the last hour. At first it was brown and chunky (like his dog food) and now it's becoming more and more clear and mucus-like. Also, his nose isn't as wet and his gums and mouth are sticky, not slobbery like usual. He is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix and he's almost 2. I've given him I've chips and water to try and keep him hydrated but he's just throwing it right back up.
Avatar f tn Something like a black plastic pen top might have been chewed into small enough pieces that it would be hard to see it in the stool of a large dog. If your dog happens to get sick anytime in the next several days, I would treat it as an emergency, but otherwise, the object will either show up in the next few days, or it won't.
1086217 tn?1256696089 When we got a new vet, she immediately treated his ears, and no more vomiting. It can also happen if your dog has bad allergies, from all that mucus draining into the stomach. You might want to check your dog's ears for a lot of wax or redness, and watch for a lot of scratching or biting to indicate allergies.
Avatar f tn Since she IS staying at the vet I think her chances for recovery are quite good. Damage to organs from the dehydration caused by constant vomiting is what normally ends up doing them in, so as long as this is controlled and fluids are administered to prevent dehydration, the inflammation usually subsides a couple of days into the treatment and things begin to improve. Did the vet give you any kind of clue as to what type of bacteria is causing the enteritis?
Avatar f tn k so my dog is 6 months old she was sick last week throwing up yellow bial she wouldn't take ice cubs or drink or eat anything, brought her to the vet she got a shot and was fine for two days after being treated she was sick again, throwing up Monday couldn't keep anything down again than yesterday we limited her food to 4 small proportions through out the day, she was perfect kept it down playing etc..
Avatar f tn then vomits frothy mucus, and then finally vomits about a teaspoon or two of bright red blood. This happens maybe twice a month. He never vomits food and does this on an empty stomach. It is always in the morning soon after I get up and he gets out of his crate. I assume the blood is from the violent retching he's doing. I've never found a foreign body or anything to indicate why he's doing this. He does have a habit of licking his front legs excessively (nervous habit).
Avatar n tn It still would be a good idea to have her checked over by a vet. Vomiting large amounts of mucus, unexplained neck swelling, loss of appetite, and lethargy are all symptoms which need proper attention. Yes, sometimes dogs have an upset, then get better of their own accord, and we are glad we didn't panic (and run up a bill at the vet's office!) Sometimes that happens. But it is a fine line to balance. In my opinion, anything that is pretty dramatic, of sudden occurrence, or worsening.
Avatar n tn I don't want to panic, but my dog vomited a very large pile of bile (white). Before I rush him (30 lb Boston Terrier, 8 yrs old) to the doctor, I would like to know what to watch for and what some common causes might be. He is a very sensitive dog and gets upset easily. We are NEVER out late, but came home a couple hours later than usual last night and this morning he vomited. With his sensitve personality, I was curious if it could be related.
Avatar f tn She could have something called bilious vomiting syndrome. Even though it's called bilious vomiting syndrome, it's not an actual vomiting that brings up the foam, it's a gagging cough. This happens in some dogs when they first wake up, the stomach is empty from not eating all night and there is a buildup of acid. You can try an experiment to see if this is what it is - try feeding your dog a small snack late at night or, if you wake up during the night, give her a cookie or two.
Avatar m tn I gave my dog 1.5 () pills last night with dinner and he threw up half way through the night. He threw up breakfast this morning, and is throwing up any water (anything really) that he tries to ingest. He's throwing up within minutes of taking the food or water in. He's lethargic and really sad. Our vet just said to wait it out till the meds were out of his system, and to give Pepcid if he wont stop throwing up.
Avatar m tn This could be something more serious, of course. Any chance your dog may have ingested something in the house or outside? Is the dog eating, drinking, any vomiting or diarrhea, eating and drinking? If this continues and especially if the dog shows any other signs, a trip to your Vet is warranted.
Avatar n tn The dog certainly wasn't buried as deep as deep as we would have liked, but our ground is limerock so we can only get so deep... My husband put a slab of drywall (left over from a remodeling project) over it with cement blocks on that, but the boxer dug through the drywall. My question is.. Do I really need to try to get my boxer to an emergency vet? I don't know if this is something that will poison him or just make him sick for a little while.
Avatar n tn t hurt to have a full blood and urine workup to see how her organs are performing. This kind of vomiting is not normal. Does she throw up food, or is it primarily slimy bile?
Avatar m tn also, I have 4 dogs (total weight 385lbs) and tried feeding them Blue Buffalo dog food 2 of them threw it up the first time I feed it to them and the other 2 just walked away from and refused to eat I now feed them kibbles and bits and canned pedigree (7.88 a 12 pack at wall mart) and they love it.
Avatar n tn My golden retriever is 10 years old and started with diarrhea 3 days ago, its is yellowish gel type, and started vomiting the next day a yellow bile with white mucus in it. The vet did a stool sample and found nothing they have kept her over night. when I called to check on her this morning, they told me she is eating id with no vomiting, but still having the gel like diarrhea. Can anybody help me to help the vet diagnose my dog??? No lab work has been done.
Avatar f tn Missy dog vomits when she eats or drinks. She can only keep down white rice and small amounts of water at a time. Her stool is normal and stomach isn't hard. I am concerned at she can't continue to just eat rice. I tried boiling hamburer and putting a little in the rice but she vomited that too.
Avatar f tn Im 36 weeks and have been losing mucus plug, contracting, throwing up and my cervix stretches to 3cm all since wednesday but there is just no sign of baby coming, its wearing me out already, im fed up i wish things would either stop or progress into labour, and i just know that even though i only have 27 days left its going to drag now cause of everything thats happening. Is anybody else having the same problem and how are you coping?
Avatar f tn Scooter had shot number 6 yesterday and threw up twice within an hour. This afternoon he threw up again. Otherwise seems fine. Vet had me pick up some 'Puppy mix' he mixes for upset tummy/ diarrhea and give him that tonight. Should I continue with the next two load shots? Also, after the 8 doses, does the animal continue with regular monthly shots or is this it?
