Avatar m tn 1. anti-emetics (anti-nausea medication) such as Reglan, Cerenia, or equivalent; 2. appetite stimulants, such as Mirtazapine (Remeron), Cyproheptadine (Periactin), or equivalent; 3. steroids either given orally or by injection and IV fluid therapy; 4. antiparasitics and antibiotics should also be given, including Metronidazole or others. Avatar n tn I would like to say that when I responded to your other post, the one asking this same question, I mentioned herbal treatments. At the time I replied I did not realize you were referring to treatment for your dog. I thought that other post had been accidentally put on this forum, and was referring to Human treatment.

Avatar m tn s best to get your dog tested for all possible causes of this mysterious vomiting before simply trying a Homeopathic treatment on him. At least if you get a definite diagnosis, you'll know more clearly what you're dealing with. Anyway, the dosage for Homeopathic meds are usually the 6c potency 2 tabs every 2 hours in acute cases, for 6 doses. Then when the symptoms start to lessen, cut down to 3 times a day.....then 2 times a day....in relation to any improvement.
Avatar f tn He acted normally--drank water, ate food, ran around playing and did everything he normally does except for the vomiting. He had had no change in foods, but he is the type of dog that eats nails, paper clips, tacks, necklaces, plastic, and anything he isn't supposed to that he can get his paws on. Since I have 2 children I never know what they might drop or leave lying around, and; therefore, I am often pulling things out of my dog's mouth.
Avatar m tn This could be something more serious, of course. Any chance your dog may have ingested something in the house or outside? Is the dog eating, drinking, any vomiting or diarrhea, eating and drinking? If this continues and especially if the dog shows any other signs, a trip to your Vet is warranted.
Avatar f tn Missy dog vomits when she eats or drinks. She can only keep down white rice and small amounts of water at a time. Her stool is normal and stomach isn't hard. I am concerned at she can't continue to just eat rice. I tried boiling hamburer and putting a little in the rice but she vomited that too.
Avatar n tn my dog is vomiting and not eating but he will drink. my neighbor dog was doing the same thing but they took their dog to the doctors I can not afford to take him to the doctor right now how else can I cure him....HELP!
Avatar m tn My dog has been vomiting yellow bile and sometimes with food.. he has very little appetite. Vet visit last wed showed nothing unusual on blood work and exam. said to treat as acid reflux. Meds haven't stopped it and appetite is actually worse.. he is 10+ husky/shep mix.
Avatar m tn I'm very sorry to hear about your dog. hopefully it is something that can be treated. however if you feel that you can not keep up with the financial side of having a chronically ill dog, who would do fine with medication, you can often sign them over to animal welfare. they will find a foster family who will be able to take care of any medical needs. it is a hard thing to do, but in my opinion a better way than putting him to sleep. hope he gets better soon.
603946 tn?1333941839 My GREATEST concern here is that your Vet chose to vaccinate your dog! Unbelievable!!!! NO dog with any disease should be vaccinated! The vaccine package insert states that very clearly!!! You should know, however, that all vaccines, including rabies, are medically approved for use in HEALTHY animals ONLY. This is explicitly stated in the package insert for every vaccine.
Avatar n tn The way pancreatitis is treated is by allowing that organ to rest through literal starvation. Same treatment holds for human patients too. The dog is given IV hydration and nutrition, nausea and pain control, and then you wait it out. Is she eating anything at all? I hope your vet explained that avoiding fats is very important right now - and in the future. What did your vet determine to be the cause of the attack?
Avatar n tn You should keep a close eye on your dog when first starting the Previcox treatment as side effects have been reported in some breeds. Some side effects include vomiting, skin rash, lethargy, and bloody stool. You should watch for any kind of negative change in your pet’s health and consult your vet. Most breeds handle Previcox very well and you shouldn’t have any issues but you can talk to your vet about which breeds will handle it better to make sure it’s right for your dog.
Avatar f tn ), but she is getting very unconfortable at first (crying, pacing and sometimes vomiting) and later she is very lethargic. I know - my old dog has a "good" and "bad" days - we live with a hypothyroidism and Cushing disease for a long time. My Question: Did garlic supplement interfere with other medications or my dog is allergic to it? She was expose to garlicky food all her life.
1544053 tn?1328691992 The best thing to do, would have been to try to induce vomiting within an hour of the dog ingesting the chocolate. But I see that this post is a couple of hours old, so...inducing vomiting may not help just because the chocolate may have left the stomach by now. Once the chocolate leaves the stomach, and enters the intestine, vomiting is no longer effective. Now...
