Common Questions and Answers about Dog vomiting questions

vomiting

Avatar f tn He acted normally--drank water, ate food, ran around playing and did everything he normally does except for the vomiting. He had had no change in foods, but he is the type of dog that eats nails, paper clips, tacks, necklaces, plastic, and anything he isn't supposed to that he can get his paws on. Since I have 2 children I never know what they might drop or leave lying around, and; therefore, I am often pulling things out of my dog's mouth.
509877 tn?1315361694 I have questions, my vet just diagnosed my shih tzu with pancreatitis. She ate some pork a couple of days ago and them started vomiting the yellow frothy stuff. They had to give her steroids to stop the vomiting, does this mean she will always have the pancreatitis? Or is this a one time thing? I know not to let her eat anything but her dog food diet but I am still worried... Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn This could be something more serious, of course. Any chance your dog may have ingested something in the house or outside? Is the dog eating, drinking, any vomiting or diarrhea, eating and drinking? If this continues and especially if the dog shows any other signs, a trip to your Vet is warranted.
Avatar f tn Missy dog vomits when she eats or drinks. She can only keep down white rice and small amounts of water at a time. Her stool is normal and stomach isn't hard. I am concerned at she can't continue to just eat rice. I tried boiling hamburer and putting a little in the rice but she vomited that too.
Avatar n tn My dog has been vomiting in the morning about once or twice a week intermittently for a few weeks. She is 5, a mutt (my best guess is border collie and husky mix?) and otherwise seems fine. Before and after she vomits she doesn't seem to be bothered at all and is active and playful. I haven't brought her into the vet yet since it doesn't seem to be effecting her very much, but since it is happening on and off for a while now I'm starting to get concerned.
Avatar m tn My dog has been vomiting yellow bile and sometimes with food.. he has very little appetite. Vet visit last wed showed nothing unusual on blood work and exam. said to treat as acid reflux. Meds haven't stopped it and appetite is actually worse.. he is 10+ husky/shep mix.
Avatar n tn Please start a NEW THREAD with questions. It can take so long to see these old ones, and may be a matter of life and death for a dog! Okay, it's wiser to speak to your vet first, before inducing vomiting, or the poison control center emergency helpline, if the vet is not available. For inducing vomiting in dogs there is some good advice here: http://www.petmd.
172023 tn?1334672284 1. That one is hard. He is 8 years old, not a terribly active dog. He probably prefers cooler temps best, but willing goes/does anything, anywhere we go, in whatever temp we are in at the moment. 2. Lots of water. (has been extensively worked up for this. It has periodically been a concern. No physiological reason for it). He goes through spells, about 2-3 times a year, where he drinks ENORMOUS amounts of water for a week or so--I'm talking about a gallon or more a day).

1086217 tn?1256696089 When we got a new vet, she immediately treated his ears, and no more vomiting. It can also happen if your dog has bad allergies, from all that mucus draining into the stomach. You might want to check your dog's ears for a lot of wax or redness, and watch for a lot of scratching or biting to indicate allergies.
Avatar n tn It is vital you get your dog to a vet as soon as possible, so he can be properly assessed. Much also depends on how your dog is behaving when he is not vomiting. Does he behave normally? Does he still have the same level of energy? Is he sleeping more? These are questions your vet will undoubtedly ask you about, so be prepared. Also, what are you feeding him? Have you changed his diet recently or started giving him different treats to what were being given previously?
Avatar f tn Anorexia (not eating) and vomiting in a dog is very serious. He should be seen by a vet within the next 12 hours ideally. This could be a vius, bacterial infection, pancreatitis, foreign object in his stomach etc.
1360237 tn?1351816181 I would like to know which human foods i can feed my dog. For example i heard that giving a dog raw meat is good and i also heard it's bad. I do feed my dog normal dog food but i would like to treat him every now and then with different food. Also on the same topic if there is anything else a dog can drink other than water i would like to know please.
Avatar m tn I am sorry about your dog. Vomiting can be caused by a great number or problems including: parasites, gastritis, toxins, infectious agents, foreign body ingestion, kidney or liver disease, cancers and more. Not eating for two weeks is very serious. It would be great if your vet's were able to perform blood tests and X-Rays because once there is a diagnosis proper treatment can be instituted. If diagnostics cannot be performed than symptomatic treatment is the next best option.
Avatar f tn Travel in India 2 yrs ago, rescued a diseased dog. Had diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps. Took ciprofloxacin, 2x 250mg per day for 5 days. Diarrhea subsided but nausea + stomach pain continued. On return have had 6 parasite tests - Aeromonas Hydrophilia found, but ciprofloxacin taken. No other parasites. Symptoms are worse over 2 years. Symptoms: - Constant nausea 20 mins after eating, worse in evening, and vomiting if no anti-emetics taken.
4487133 tn?1355332064 My 15 month old English Bulldog has been vomiting for about 6 weeks now (daily, sometimes twice daily). If it is after a meal, then she throws up the entire meal. If it is not near a meal, then she throws up a large amount of bile colored drool. She eats only her recommended amount of Innova-Weight Control dog food twice daily (given to her in small amounts at a time) - No table food at all. She has been taking half a tab (37.
