1709813 tn?1309595050 m so sorry to hear this and your dog must be in pain and might have more injuries then you suspect and should really be seen by a Vet and soon. Check around to see if there is a Vet that will allow you a possible payment plan. Is there a friend or family member that could possibly give you a loan? Your dog is suffering and you really need to do something and quickly. One of the other members may be able to give you more info on a place you can get funding.
Avatar m tn Did the Vet mention what type of therapy? Since this is a small dog, I thing aquatic therapy would really benefit her and you should be able to use your bathtub. Ask your Vet if you can do that. Hard to explain in depth here, but look it up on the Internet.
Avatar n tn That is definitely something you'd need to consult a Vet about. Just because you felt no broken bones does not mean that there aren't any. Sleeping under a dumpster? That doesn't appear to be a safe place for a dog to be sleeping none the less. I'm sorry this may come off extremely rude, but if you don't have the money to care for an animal, perhaps you should not own one. Like I said, the dog needs to see a Vet.
Avatar m tn She used to limp very slightly on a back leg which was once broken when she was younger. The vet said she would probably grow to develop arthritis in that leg, and it did seem things might be going that way, as any change in the weather to dampness, had her 'hitching' up that leg sometimes. Since starting the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, she has not even done that once! My dog weighs 28lbs and the maximum dose for her is 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin.
Avatar n tn old lab started limping in April - no known cause, but she has always been active - running, chasing the ball, etc. Had an MRI done by a neurologist (vet) and a number of biopsies - nothing. They are recommending I take her to Gainesville for nerve tests. She is not improving or getting worse; There is no difference if she has been sleeping for 6 hours or 10 minutes. I am beginning to think it is the paw - no signs of infection, etc. I'm not sure of x rays or mri included paw.
774189 tn?1235410421 MY DOG ATTACKED MY CAT TODAY AND MY CAT IS LIMPING BUT SHE STILL WALKS ON HER LEG AND WAS CLEANING HERSELF DO YOU THINK SHES GONNA BE OK?
436837 tn?1293793226 I know for a fact it has with my dog. She had a broken leg years ago (in her past life before I rescued her) Since then she has limped, and 'hitched' that leg from time to time, especially when the weather turned damp and cold. I started her with the supplement a few months ago in the Spring. I have not looked back! For testimony, she is leaping over hurdles 3-4 feet tall! She did that same thing today, chasing a flying bird! She took my breath away!
Avatar f tn He had a broken front leg from a 22 gunshot wound. The vet splinted the leg. It was almost 5 weeks when I took him back to the vet because he had chewed his bandages and I thought they would re-wrap the leg. But, when they brought him out, they had removed the splint and had an E collar on him instead. I brought him home. He was on the floor in my living room eating some food. All of a sudden his front legs splayed out and he cried and he was gone, died.
536929 tn?1217872077 the leg will have an injury not heal correctly, the dog will not be able to jump properly and sometimes leg will give and not hurts old injury or gets new injury, common sense, and as time goes, arthritis sets in and its an injury will calcium deposit and tissue scars, that like us, weather, move the wrong way, we hurt all over again, so ongoing pain and stress on injures, dogs do not always let you know the pain, cause dogs will dogs until the end, until its really bad and they limp or cry, pa
Avatar n tn WHAT? If he's walking on his knees, then his legs are broken and you need to seek a Vet IMMEDIATELY! Something is very wrong!
675347 tn?1365460645 I read an article a few weeks ago about giving the human glucosamine to dogs, the person writing the article was not a vet but a knowledgeable expert in dog breeding. They said that the vet and pet store glucosamine is not as good because it contains a lot more salt than the human form.
Avatar f tn Last night we opened our backdoor to find a stray kitty (adolescent male). I noticed he was malnourished and gave him some milk and chicken (all I had for an animal). Then I noticed he was favoring one leg. I think it might be broken! I've called a few places and no one wants to deal with him, of course. They're just going to want to euthanize him instead of help him. So my question is this--- what do I do?!?!?!?!
1696394 tn?1316235275 and breifed them on the situation. Our vet took x rays and casted his leg later he slipped out of it i crated him and tryed to make him rest witch is extremely hard to make a puppy understand its for his own good so that day i took him to have his cast replaced and ask her if she could put it on tighter she said that she couldn't because he was still a very young puppy and he would be growing to rapidly and did not want to cut off his circulation .
Avatar f tn My 1 yr old boxer broke his leg and had to be plated. I took him to the vet the night before surgery. I called the next day and they said he was in surgery and everything was going as planned. 6 hrs later I got a call from the vet saying that they completed the surgery and when they took the last xray he went into cardiac arrest. I dropped the phone and that was the end of the conversation. This was 4 days ago and I haven't recieved another call.
Avatar f tn Can you determine that the leg isn't broken? Will he let you move the leg at the hip joint? If he isn't acting like he is in severe pain, will eat and drink. I would try keeping him quiet and only take him out to potty. You know your dog best so you would have to make a judgement call as to if he needs the Vet.
Avatar f tn A few of you asked to be updated on the kitty cat I found (or I should, "Who found us!"). We just got back from the vet. He got vaccinated, medication for an infection in his ears, de-wormer stuff, and x-rays. The x-rays showed a BB pellet lodged in the cat's chest, but that isn't something we have to worry about. But I was absolutely livid inside when the vet told me.
Avatar f tn My own dog took this after a broken leg and it did her so much good. In damp weather she had started to favour that leg a little sometimes. As soon as she took the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, it took about one week to see a great improvement. After that, she had no more trouble with that leg. She weighed 30lbs, and the correct maximum dosage for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin once daily.
Avatar f tn My dog Charlie is about four or five years old and we're unsure of his breeding because he's a rescue dog. He is a medium size dog, about the size of a collie but shorter in the leg. Over a period of several weeks I've noticed a change in his mobility, particularly when ascending the stairs, getting up from a resting position, and sitting down. His right back leg appears quite stiff after resting and when he gets up he has to stretch it out behind him before setting off.
10947 tn?1281404252 My Pit-mix injured her rear right leg on Saturday while playing. I took her to the Vet on Sunday..he fely her leg down..NO YELPING or indication of pain. We agreed to give her medication and wait a few days before doing x-rays (financially smart AND no MAJOR indication of broken bone as she was putting 10% of her weight on it). it is Wednesday and she is still limping..she will 'forget' and occasionally put weight on it. she still limps...
Avatar m tn Massage will definitely help him. And I have not known a dog yet who didn't love a massage. All I know about Glucosamine is from personal experience with my own dog years ago. She'd had a broken leg some time before, and was starting to favour that leg sometimes, especially in damp weather. The vet said we could expect that she might develop arthritis in it. I started her on Glucosamine/Chondroitin (500/200mg respectively, daily as she was approx.
Avatar m tn He hasn't thrown up, that we are aware of, and he's eating and drinking like normal. Going to the toilet normal too (both ways) However he is a bit lethargic, but he's always been a lazy dog, and he seems to be limping but I can't tell which leg, he is also stiff. He seem's to have improved, but I didn't think it was chocolate until today, I found an empty bag of milk choc chips. He could have had upwards of 100g. I am really scared. Will he be okay?
1671377 tn?1308434261 Please take a fecal sample to your vet for analysis, and, even if the fecal analysis is negative, it might be best to have her treated with a broad spectrum anti-parasitic medication, such as Drontal Plus, Panacur, or equivalent. You should also ask your vet to place your dog on a probiotic, such as Prostora. If these are ineffective, your dog should be assessed by a vet for other gastrointestinal problems, such as IBD, Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, and many more.
Avatar n tn My dog was a German Shepard who was 11 years old. Last Monday (May 4th) we noticed swelling in her left front leg. It went from the paw all the way up to the shoulder. She was an outside dog and loved to dig so we thought she may have broken her arm while doing something outdoors. We took her to the vet and the vet looked at it as either a possible tumor or a sprain/broken bone.
955684 tn?1246514754 Is it possible for a dog to break its nose? If so, how can I determine if it is broken for sure, besides going to the vet? What are treatments options for a broken nose? What are the short and long term effects of a dog breaking its nose?
Avatar n tn Is a broken leg (3 places) and Pneumothorax an automatic death sentence if they removed the air once and i filled up again The x-ray showed about l1/2 ins of space between the stomach wall and lung. Binx was hit by a car and they put him to sleep It wasn't because it would cost to much to Fix him either, it wasn't brought up. Just wondering if we did the right thing by fully trusting the Vet.
