Common Questions and Answers about Does whey protein make you gain weight

protein

Avatar f tn You don't say why you want to gain weight, or what kind of weight. Are you ill? Is there a reason you're underweight? If you just want to gain weight, remember that all weight gain formulas contain things that aren't healthy to eat, as do most protein supplements (but not all). The easiest way to gain weight is to skip the unhealthy supplements and just eat more of what you're already eating without increasing your exercise.
Avatar m tn Whey protein is good for you and will help build muscle, but you have to keep up the exercise, too. Not eating butter or cheese, doesn't mean your eating habits are excellent. You need to eat lots of fruits and veggies, along with high protein, lean meats, etc. You build stamina by working into an exercise routine, slowly. Have you thought about trying yoga, along with other exercise?
Avatar m tn what do you think about grain protein powder? is protein the only requirement to gain weight?
Avatar m tn It is indicated to take massive amount of it between meals which is very likely to make you gain weight and build up muscles quickly. Is it healthy? Probably not in the long run as it contains creatine and hypercaloric intakes are not associated with health and longevity. Keep on working and results will come. Getting information like you are doing is good. Getting the help of a personal trainer could be a good thing too.
Avatar n tn Protein shakes keep being recommended to everyone on here who wants to gain weight, but too much protein is a problem and we have no idea how much protein people are eating who write on here. The only people in most developed countries who get too little protein are vegans sometimes if they don't eat well and advanced bodybuilders. Most Americans get too much protein. The simple way to gain weight is to add a meal. Pretty easy. Eat the same healthy foods you usually eat, just eat more.
Avatar f tn Well, yeah, maybe, but you'll also be consuming all the artificial and sugary stuff in them. There are healthier ways to gain weight just by eating additional healthy meals.
Avatar f tn First of all, if you're not doing resistance training (weight lifting), you're not going to gain muscle much. Second, most people eat too much protein, not too little, unless you're quite poor. Some people do lose weight on a high protein diet, while others don't do well on that type of diet, and long-term it isn't good for you because it usually substitutes protein for vegetables and fruits, which are where we get our antioxidants and minerals.
Avatar m tn after a workout refuel 20 grams high quality protein ( small can tuna) a 3 ounce serving of meat or a protein shake made with whey and casein the amino acid leucine stimulates protein synthesis also have 1 teaspoon of Mega BCAA from ProSource a good snack is Macadamias (nuts) they don't need refrigeration they are packed with nutrients have mono unsaturated (good fats) and low carbs.
Avatar m tn Excess amounts of protein and fats can also cause weight gain, especially if you are inactive. Extra pounds can lead to problems with insomnia. A low-fat diet that meets your protein needs along with regular physical activity avoids sleeping difficulties. Many protein foods, including meat, poultry, fish and dairy products, contain saturated fats. Protein may also block the activity of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps you relax and sleep.
Avatar n tn John, can you recheck what you wrote as his height and weight? I don't think that's what you meant to say.

5606554 tn?1372445380 I am trying to stay away from sugars but use honey. All the foods that I used to crave, but would make me gain weight, Icould eat now, if I could stomach it. I dont drink pops, instead I drink coconut water and juices, freshly juiced fruit if you have a juicer, and vegies too easier to digest, and lots of healthy vitamins.
Avatar f tn My husband and I just started going to the gym again after years and years of not exercising and not eating healthy. His main goal is to gain muscle(but not too much) and gain weight(because he is normally very thin). My main goal is to loose alot of weight(50-65lbs) and gain muscle. He wants to start using whey and other types of supplements, but we dont know where to start or what to buy. I figure that we might both need different things, since I want to loose weight and he wants to gain.
Avatar n tn protein drinks and whey protein drinks aren't bad for growing boys. protein is the fastest way to spur muscle growth. i don't know what part of the world you live in, but you can find both of those products at Trader Joe's if that market is availible to you. If not you can find them at pretty much any health food store, major supermarket, or vitamin shop. some gyms like equinox sell those products also.
Avatar n tn Powdered milk is cheaper then whey protein powder and they are the same, however, you only get extra protein not calories. If he will drink milk with Ovaltine in it, then give it to him with the Ovaltine. It is better then not drinking it at all. Would you please state his weight and height so I can assess his nutrition status and give you more suggestions? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I would say protein. If you do use creatine once you stop you feel weaker but if you get it from meat its fine. just eat more red meat and less white meat and you should be fine.
Avatar m tn I just want to know exactly how it helps, you know with exactly what. Also is that like a weight, and muscle gain shake? If it will help put weight on, that is fine with me. I could use a couple pounds. (smile). Im good with my size, but I can handle a couple pounds, my main concern is will this help with my energy at all? I do have some ensure, its the kind to help maintain weight though. Which is best to help with the healing of my body, and the energy I need to get?
Avatar n tn Whey protein will not help him grow in height if that is not his natural build; like Renee mentioned above; what is your family's average height? I am a strong user of proteins and use protein shakes and whey protein in various ways but it is to feed my body, it will not make him grow...at 19, I think he has reached his full height...sorry..
Avatar f tn I usually use whey protein powder mixed with water or sometimes almond milk, and I find it very easy on my system, easy for my body to digest and absorb (instead of eating a high-in-protein steak). I also sometimes use a plant based protein powder, but I find whey protein dissolves very easily in water compared to plant based proteins. I don't eat mammals, but I'm aware beef protein powder exists but it is not on the menu for me.
Avatar n tn It could be that you are recuperating from chicken pox and it may take time for proper weight gain. Personality is important, but it’s at its best only when you are most comfortable in it. The goal should be to be healthy and fit. Also the RBBB (right bundle branch block) may not cause significant symptoms. But sometimes, unintentional weight loss can occur with hyperthyroidism, diabetes, certain medications, depression, eating disorders, and infections and due to loss of appetite.
