636562 tn?1223667445 I recently had a bad reaction to Tussionex Suspension and had to go to the ER. I agree with the doctor that I had a reaction to the Tussionex, but I'm wondering why it affected me so long after I initially took it (I didn't have any symptoms for the first 7-8 hours). I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I thought a pharmacist would be the best one to answer my question. How do extended release medications work?
Avatar n tn I have a cough that does not seem to go away. I had a cold 2 months ago. I have since recuperated except for the persistent dry cough. It seems worse at night; however, I get bouts of deep, dry, coughing throughout the day. I am not prone to allergies and am in general good health. What is it? What can I do to stop it?
Avatar m tn Does anyone know anything about this cough syrup.?it is supposedly time released and I don't how that works. What is the deal with this stuff everyone says it's very dangerous but no one says why.
Avatar n tn Had all the allergy shots available on the planet (allergies to dust/dust mites) and today, I read about Tussionex. I control my blood pressure very well with Adalat once a day. I'll be seeing my GP on April 8. I pray that Tussionex (taken only 8 hours or 12 hours prior to my show/s as opposed to taking the narcotic regularly - that's scary) would be permissible for me even when taking Adalat.
1003776 tn?1360197582 Whats really scaring me is that I have a hard time breathing now so i really have to get off this junk. Does methadone really work for tussionex, it is a narcotic. Anyhow, there is no way i can stay at a house, like i said i have 5 children and i have to be here. I have no one to help and no real support. I hope i dont die.
Avatar f tn Avoiding the pain or basically sweeping it under the rug does not make it go away. You need to acknowledge it and deal with it. Your addiction will only get worse. You can do it if you really want to but only you can do the work. Losing a bf is NOT the end of the world. You had a life before them and you will have a life after them. But doing drugs to numb the pain is not the answer. you need to talk to someone about how youre feeling. Trust me this is not the way to do it.
Avatar f tn I am hopefully going to start treatment AGAIN for tussionex withdrawal and treatment. Pray for me. Any suggestions or any other people out there like me? I am so alone.
Avatar n tn sober 20+ years in 12 step program. Take Tussionex for chronic cough, 1 tsp. per day. I don't abuse it by taking more. But, if I don't take it every day I start to feel like I am getting the flu. Is that withdrawal, just the level in my blood is dropping off after 24 hours? Would appreciate anyone's input, especially if you have experience. Thanks and bless you all. One day at a time, because that's all we've got.
Avatar f tn My addiction started around 1 1/2 to 2 years ago when I had a chronic cough and was given Tussionex - wow how I loved that stuff. It totally stopped my coughing and made you feel great. I took that stuff for heck months...until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...
Avatar n tn I have a bottle of Tussionex since the last time i was pretty sick. It was filled may 15 2008 and Im not sure what the expiration date is on it. would it be fine to take?
Avatar f tn I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar n tn I usually get this (to a lesser extent) every year, its just a persistent cough that lasts usually till around march. This year, It has gotten so bad, that i have been to my primary care four times, an urgent care once, the ER twice, and to one pulmonologist, looking to go to another. I was first seen at a walk in clinic and given a diagnosis of asthma exacerbated bronchitis. I was given 50mg of prednisone to wean off of.
1071153 tn?1255369215 I knew I liked the feeling and what it did for me. Every chance I could call in a cough for some Tussionex I would. I grew up in a Godly home and was in church every week, so I knew it was wrong. A friend had some Ultracet. I tried some and liked them. I justified they were ok because it was not a narcotic. I have been taking Ultracet weekly and sometimes daily for four years getting Tussionex and other opiates we I could.
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar m tn Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi, That's absolutely horrible. I'm so sorry to hear about what is going on with your hubby. Go see your doctor and ask your doctor to give you a cough medication and the name of it is Tussionex suspense. It's amazing it does have a hard narcotic in it but it will definitely stop the cough in its tracks. My hubby takes it and we call it Liquid Gold here at our house. It's amazing. Good luck. Keep in touch. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Doctor shopping will usually get you kicked out of the clinic you go to since you broke the opiate agreement. If you go doctor shopping, you'll end up in a much worse place than if you found one that you trust and stayed with them.
Avatar n tn I'm a fairly healthy 21 yr old(except for cervical displaysia that Ive had for 2yrs, not caused by HPV) but lately I've been so paranoid about having HIV that I go into random crying spells where I am begging and pleading to any "being, god or creature" that will here me, swearing to change my life if I come back negative next week(I was tested today). The thing is I'm not a careless person but the past few months I have "bed hopped" from a few men.
Avatar n tn Do you have any idea what this can be? I feel so bad for her because there is nothing I can do to help her!
Avatar n tn Vicodin, Vicoprofen, Tussionex, etc... and thay may be called in or faxed in to a Pharmacy and can have up to 6 refills.
Avatar f tn I couldn’t even go to school because it got so bad. Now almost 6 months later I’ve learned it was mono. I still am sick most mornings but I no longer vomit every time. I’m just wondering if this will eventually subside or if I have an underlying Illness.
Avatar n tn Hello, I saw some old posts about PND and hydrocodone or some form of it "curing" PND. I have had Hydrocodone for back pain over the years and always seemed to notice my PDN stopped when using it. I mentioned it to my Dr. and he looked at me like I was nuts (or maybe he thought I was fishing for more drugs) I have suffered, and suffered is the word, with PND my entire life (50 now) and the last few years it has gotten much worse.
Avatar f tn I dont mean to sound stupid.....I just want to know how bad my situation is. I know addiction is bad no matter what but would that be concidered very high??Thank you all so much for the information and support. Im still terrified but you are making me feel like tomorrow (my day 1) will be "surviveable"....And I can do it because I have you all to help me through it.
2065348 tn?1331075207 It does go away. I have had it off and on over the years after stressfull events. Dont fight it because it will only get worse. as uncomfortable as it is, derealization is harmless. DR/DP are the results of a stressed brain. I believe I sent you literature on this condition. That explains everything that is happening to you.
Avatar m tn Hi my question is does fibromyalgia ever go away? i was 19 when i was diagnosed. 2 years ago. I just dont get i it i was so fit and active and incredibly strong. I could bench press 110kg! my question is has anyone ever heard of it naturally dissipating over time, or am i stuck with it forever? and if i'm stuck with it forever what drugs or treatment should i take to get better inner peace?
