Does temodar work

Common Questions and Answers about Does temodar work

temodar

Left frontoparietal area. I did 4 cycles of Temodar up front(it was working) followed by low dose Temodar concurrent with radiation. My MRI in November showed tumor was stable yet the recommended course of treatment was 2 cycles of CCNU (which I reluctantly did one of),followed by CPT-11 and Avastin. Then PROBABLY Tamoxifen or Celebrex. I got a second and compared Nov. MRI with one in Jan., stable.
Often I'd be told to go to the ER to get IV meds to stop the pain, which one weekend, didn't work. They did a scan and found a tumor, and that night I had brain surgery to remove what turned out to be a stage 4 Glioblstoms zzzzzzzzzzmultforme tumor. Told I had 2 to 5 years to live. I keep wondering why they let me go that long with such severe pain without an MRI. Would it have made a difference if we found it when it was smaller?

i have since gone through 54 radiation treatments as well as 3 months of temodar treatment 5 on/23 off.  my last two mri's have shown a small bright spot about 1.5 cm, not where the tumor is, but in the right parietal lobe, which was not present earlier.  the drs are watching it by doing mri's every two months but cannot identify what it is since it is so small.
Schering-Plough CEO Fred Hassan said in an interview that those drugs include Nasonex, Pegintron for hepatitis, cancer drug Temodar, the Nuvaring contraceptive and the two cholesterol drugs, all of which have patent protection until 2014 or later. Doesn't appear Pegintron will be any cheaper for a long time.
The lump my Mom had on her neck did indeed get smaller - in fact, it went from being big enough that her chin hit it when she turned her head, to virtually invisible. All of her blood work has looked fantastic. She was feeling great. But about 4 wks ago, she started having minor memory problems, mainly having to do w/ keeping her checkbook straight. I urged her to see her family dr (I suspected perhaps it was a TIA or something), which she did.
It's now been a little over 4 years, I'm working full-time at my chosen career path(which took a bit longer than I had originally set out for). But, getting a brain tumor is one of those things you plan for. I'm now in the 'watch it' stage, which is kinda like a yearly mammogram a little early in life. Knowing I have a tumor helps me to apprieciate life more. I traveled after graduating, I didn't run out and get the first job I could. I didn't have the money either.
