Does relpax work

Common Questions and Answers about Does relpax work

relpax

Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Also, In case your insurance doesn't cover your entire Relpax prescription, I am posting a link to a coupon for $15 off of your Relpax prescriptions. You apparently can't use this coupon if you have any sort of federal or state insurance, or if your private insurance covers 100% of the prescription. Otherwise, you can print this coupon and use it every time you fill your Relpax prescription (but it expires next April).
Avatar n tn I have the EXACT same thing. I've tried Imitrex tablets (no help since I threw them up), Imitrex Nasel Spray (once again, no help because I threw it up), Imitrex Injection (have you tried this? I couldn't keep taking because of an allergic reaction). Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem with Maxalt (a drug in the same class as Relpax-they are both triptans). My insurance would only cover 12 pills, and I need more. My doctor filled out the necessary paperwork for my insurance co., saying I need more than "typically alotted". The pharmacy division of your insurance co. can give you more info. If that's not possible, have you tried another triptan? Maxalt, Imitrex, and Relpax all work for my migraines. Good luck!
Avatar m tn My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.
Avatar f tn m desperate and have no Relpax, I take Naprosyn and Sudafed, which work somewhat. But these headaches can last for up to four days. Pain meds like Lortab are a complete waste of time: like killing an elephant with a flyswatter. If it were a pinched nerve, you'd think a hard-core narcotic would work...but it doesn't. Thanks for your help! Prayers to my fellow headache sufferers...I know I'd rather have the flu than a migraine headache (or whatever these things are).
Avatar n tn Here is a quiz - take your finger and press the middle of your shoulder between your neck and where a bra strap would hit. Work your way up to your neck - does any of those points hurt? If so, then phys. therapy can definitely help. In all honesty - I think if helps no matter what even just to get a good excercise list for prevention of headaches. If those points are extremely tender, then I would ask for that electrical stimulation procedure. It can get the blood back in those muscles.
Avatar f tn Been on a lot of different meds and nothing seems to truly work. If my headache is an actual migraine, then relpax does work for me. However, I've been having this pressure at the top of my head for weeks now and it has gotten much worse. When I take relpax for it, it makes it a little better, but not 100%. The pain sometimes goes behind my eyes and then I can't even do my job..which is computer related. Now is pain has moved to the back of my head to the right side behind my ear.
Avatar f tn (I miscarried this week so this is all irrelevant now as far was asking what I can take while pregnant. Good for future use tho!) Well I learned something interesting in the first nurse visit for my pregnancy. She told me that when we're on our period or pregnant the high hormone levels cause swelling in the membranes. This is what has confused me for years and no other doc or nurse has ever explained it. This swelling is what mimics the sinus pressure.
Avatar f tn What is the best way to treat migraine, when you've taken the medicine your Dr. has given you, but it's not working? I take Relpax 40 mg., sometime it helps and sometime it doesn't.
1508698 tn?1360215710 I too suffer from migraines, but a bit more frequently than you. The first med I tried was Imitrex, which made me very sick to my stomach. I couldn't keep it down. I tried Frova, which just didn't work. Then I tried Relpax, and that was the ticket. Keep in mind that all 3 are triptans, but that doesn't mean they are the same either. The Relpax I take makes me incredibly tired, but not sick to my stomach, and it takes care of the migraine within 30 mins.
Avatar f tn Flob Thank you, I only take the midrin when I feel a headache coming on so about 2-3 on a headache day. Relpax I take 1-2 a day and they work great but cost a small fortune even with insurance. dame_wilbur Thank you as well. I do believe there is a problem with the cortizone but to get into my orthopedic Dr it's a month waiting on visits. I am having alot of pain from the injestion site up into my neck so I do think something went wrong with the last injection.
Avatar f tn Looking down and relaxing my eye helps. Also, my doc ruled out migraine. I get those and Relpax work fine for them, but not for this. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Is this normal for a migraine? I was walking to the lab to get blood work done today and thank goodness I wasn't very far from home yet. I blacked out in the middle of a busy intersection and was nearly hit by a car. The jerk behind the wheel was still coming at me laying on the horn and I barely was able to get out of the way when I realized what was happening. I don't have a headache or anything and the Doc gave me Relpax to take at the onset of a migraine.
Avatar n tn I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR). Relpax is the only thing I have found in the past 8 years that works (it turns my migraines back into plain old headaches). I am still trying to pay my medical bills on my own...I constacted five organizations that assist with medical bills...all said they are no longer able to help...donations are down. What is 'pronex'?
Avatar f tn My husband was perscribed Cymbalta along with Imitrex and Relpax for migranes. He went into a coma and had to be on a respirator in ICU for 3 days. Is this seretonin syndrome? The doctor claimed it was just a coma brought on by an intese migrane! Weird, Huh?
Avatar f tn I went back to healthcare facility beginning of 3rd week and was tested again for flu and this time blood work and chest x-ray. No infection and no prescriptions. Went straight to ER and they did MRI. No findings and was given another stack of meds to take for one week. This is the beginning of the 4th and I still feel soooo bad and still loss of voice.
Avatar m tn BTW: There never was a "98% cure rate for peg-interferon and ribavirin treatment for hepatitis C and there still isn't. If there was, there would be very few people chronically infected with hepatitis C instead of millions. As far as your husband having cluster headaches. Just because a person has hepatitis C doesn't mean they aren't going to have other diseases and conditions too.
Avatar f tn I currentlly take ibuprofen almost daily as relpax for my migrianes when needed one with a shot of sumatriptan (immetrex) injected in my leg when the relpax fails to work. Those are only acute meds and have to b taken wisely so I use them sparingly. I only get ten pills a month anyways.iv also had 6 nerves burned on left side of neck and an occipital nerve block in skull. Both worked very minimally. I go see a headache specialist next week.
1034911 tn?1389546066 Hello. I've suffered from daily headaches for over 10 years now and have been under the supervision of a neurologist, who hasn't always been the easiest to get into visit. Last week, I saw a new one and in desperation, I FINALLY took his advice to detox from Excedrin Tension that I have been usually on a daily basis for those "annoying" headaches that I wake up with.
1088430 tn?1259159773 gave steriods 1st (no help)then Fioricet(no help).Stopped those two, sent to neur.Gave relpax shot in office (ist relief EVER in wks!)relpax rx,temp. toradol rx to get through "rough patch" and nightly "anti-depressent" for nerve pain.Trying to not overuse anything to avoid "rebound cycles".
655875 tn?1295695107 ve been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
Avatar f tn I dont know if I should call the Dr and ask him if I should start taking 150mg or does anyone think its too early to say (3 wks) I take relpax when they get real bad and that works great, but 4 hrs later...BAM, the pain!!!! So, question is should I call the Dr and suggest or wait until I see him on Feb 21!!!...THANX!
10507009 tn?1410649642 In high school they began getting worse and I was prescribed a migraine medicine called “Relpax”. After a couple years they switched the medicine to “Maxalt.” I am now 22 years old and was prescribed “Zolmig/Zolmitriptan” about a year ago. The doctor believed the dissolvable dose would be able to work faster and be more beneficial. I began getting migraines about two-four times a month and the Zomig was helpful. However about two months ago my migraines increased to two-four times a week!
Avatar n tn s entirely possible my numbness/tingling are due to this but I worry I have MS. Does anyone know if you have ever had an MRI and it was clear, if that means you definitely will never have lesions that show MS? I guess what I'm asking is if I have MS now, would it definitely have shown up 8 years ago on the MRI and if I can rest assured it's not MS. I can't get another MRI as I have no medical insurance. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have SLE Lupus, Behcet's and Hypothyroid. I have been experiencing migraines for years. The doctors have tried the anti-seizure meds on me but I don't tolerate them. My doctor won't let me take beta blockers because of a severe reaction to them. I currently am on amitriptyline, but it doesn't prevent them well. I currently take relpax and it does well but they only want me to take it 3 times a week and I'm having daily migraines.
587787 tn?1218804459 Once I reached the theraputic dose I seemed to be doing better and went back to work after about 12 weeks. I was back to work full time a week and a half when the started painting the office below mine. I advised mu supervisor that the fumes were starting to bother me and I was getting a headache. She said everyone was getting headaches and left it at that. By days end I had a full blown migrane even with my Relpax. The next day it was worse.
397977 tn?1201264847 Thanks for the reply. I have already tried the imitrex pills AND nose spray. That is the first thing my doctor put me on. It worked for a while but then like everything else, its not helping any longer. After the Imitrex, I tried Maxualt and Relpax. They both use to work. When Maxualt didn't, the Relpax would but now those don't even work. Plus, the Relpax is expensive. It cost like $10 a pill WITH INSURANCE!
