proscar

Avatar m tn s due to using findriside for hair loss. My hair is fine but not worth it now. I only just noticed it four days ago and have immediately stoped taking the medication. Would you say I have done permanent damage or when the findristride is totaly out if my system will it all go back to normal. I have an okay sex life and I am 32.
Avatar f tn Stress will certainly cause more hair loss. And opiate withdrawals causes stress. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered. Your central nervous system has created a multitude of opioid receptors that all are screaming for endorphins (opiates) to fill them, but your body has now forgotten how to make them by itself.
Avatar n tn Finasteride goes by the brand name Propecia (for MPB) and Proscar (for BPH) and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlargement of the prostate]. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone to its bioactive metabolite dihydrotestosterone thus decreasing its levels in the body.
Avatar m tn Use it twice a week it will clean out all the **** from your scalp and provide a healthy environment for hair loss. Minoxidil is **** because it can irritate your scalp(especially at 5%) and even caus other problems. If you suffer future hairloss I would reccommend proscar( it is propecia but get a pill cutter and cut pills into 4) you have to take it every day but it works for almost everyone to prevent hairloss and maybe grow back more. It has worked for me.
Avatar m tn I recently got blood work done. I had been complaining of fatigue, brain fog, and most notably, hair thinning and shedding. Free T4: 1.16 (ng/dl) T 3 Total: 1.25 (ng/dl) TSH: 4.92(miu/ml) Free testosterone: 13.5(pg/ml) Testosterone Total : 283(ng/dl) range (249-836) My doctor noted mildly elevated levels of TSH and so prescribed synthroid 25mcg daily and to recheck levels in 3 months.
Avatar f tn I’ve recently had issues with excessive weight gain, periods have stopped completely, peripheral vision loss, weird hair growth, nausea, hot flashes, and pressure headaches. Both my eye Dr and gynecologist ordered blood work and these were all marked high: Prolactin: 180.0 LDL: 130 DHEA - Sulfate: 391.0 I’m being sent to a endocrinologist next, but my appointment isn’t for another month. Just looking for information.
Avatar m tn My wife Sarah for the past couple of months has been losing her hair at an alarming rate. It is to the point now where you can easliy see her scalp. It just falls out in clumps. A couple of spots are really noticable. She has been to the doctors a few times for it. They have tested her Thyroid twice now and has came back negative each time. She has also had a lot of blood work done and everything is negative.
Avatar f tn On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?

314532 tn?1206415109 Now Im not so sure about that, is it common to loss more hair half way through tx? This is crazy Im a hair stylist and use great products I thought for sure I could avoid lossing my hair. Looks like I may have thought wrong this time.
Avatar f tn Ongoing hair loss is most often associated with still being hypothyroid, although some people have problems with specific meds. What was the original reason for going on meds and how much are you taking? Free T3 is the most important test, followed by free T4. Free (unbound) T3 is the thyroid hormone that correlates best with hypo symptoms. Suggest that you make sure they continue to test for the "Frees". Are you also experiencing other symptoms?
Avatar f tn m not sure if anything will work since my hair loss is hormone related, but if anyone has had any luck with any specific product, I would love to hear about it, thanks!!
Avatar f tn severe fatigue, difficulty losing weight, weight gain, memory loss, hair loss, muscle fatigue, hair growth, buffalo hump, and increased anxiety and depression. Doctor changed my thyroid medication from cytomel to synthroid. I have a 25 year history of psoriasis and recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis due to joint swelling in a left finger and left ankle. Endocrinologist did these test and here are the results. Any assistance in translating them would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been having severe hair loss for quite some time and had basically given up and accepted it’s just female pattern alopecia (even though it is not in my familial genes)....until recently. I was recently found to have a B12 level of 236. From what I have read even though that is considered within normal ranges, anything from 200-400 is low and can cause symptoms. I was placed on OTC supplements.
Avatar f tn I lost my period for about 6 months and my hair shed. I had blood work done then, and no irregularities were present. My hair loss eventually subsidized (although my hair never fully grew back), and my period returned. However, in June I missed my period, and my hair loss returned. I got bloodwork done, and my endocrinologist diagnosed me with having high testosterone levels. Everything else appeared regular. She prescribed me sprintec 28 day tablets.
Avatar f tn Hello, It is very less likely for botox to cause hair loss. Infact botox has started to be used as a hair loss treatment. Give your diet an overhaul if you're lacking vital nutrients for growth and switch to foods for healthy hair. If it's related to an illness, it can be reversed by effectively treating the underlying cause. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I've been treated for hypothyroidism for the past 6-7 years. In November, my endocrinologist said it would not cause any further harm to stop synthroid for 3 months and then recheck levels to see if my hair loss stopped. Unfortunately, my TSH level skyrocketed to 91 and my cholesterol was high as well. So I went back on synthroid (100 mcg). I'm still suffering from hair loss and am become quite concerned/stressed/depressed.
Avatar n tn Nothing will truly help but getting your levels good, including ferritin... and choosing a thyroid med that does not cause hair loss for you. Armour and Nature throid work for most... unfortunately I can't take either of them :( Best of Luck!!
Avatar n tn Over the past few weeks have started to notice small unintentional movements in various parts of my body: legs, hands, fingers, feet, arms. This isn't muscle twitching or spasms, rather my extremities move very slightly often after performing some kind of function with them. For example, I move my arm and after the intended movement it will jerk/contract very slightly in some direction very quickly and stop -- almost as if the muscles in my arm are contracting very quickly and releasing.
Avatar n tn observation if another biopsy done in 04/09 shows increase in positive cores to 3 or more or if any one core shows 50%+ positive for cancer? Also, is there any current opinion regarding use of Avodart or Proscar while in Watchful Waiting mode? I understand there would be a likely reduction in PSA, but that new PSA baseline be established and return to monitoring of PSA velocity. Not sure what, if any, benefit this would provide.
429700 tn?1308007823 Hair loss for me was thyroid related. Besides having MS I have autoimmune thyroid issues too. I am on straight T3 as Levothyroxine was worthless and made me feel much worse. Since starting the T3 (cytomel) I am beginning to feel much better, have more energy and my hair has quit falling out. I found a Doctor who doesn't treat TSH lab results but the whole patient.
