Common Questions and Answers about Does pristiq work

pristiq

Avatar m tn My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.
759115 tn?1256997490 I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.
6726276 tn?1421126668 For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.
Avatar f tn I have been on 50 mg of pristiq for a year and a half...I am now on day 2 of 100mgs and find myself terribly anxious, trembling, feeling very bad compared to when I started 50 mgs...does anyone have any experience with upping this medicine?
Avatar f tn I switched from Prozac to Pristiq when my Prozac pooped out on me after 20 years. I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time.
Avatar m tn I have been taking pristiq 50 mg since june 08 right after it came out It does great for the depression unless I take any other med such as vitamins which I also need . It has raised my blood pressure and my cholesterol, I have horrible sweating with it now they want me to take coreg, and pravachol. When I was on effexor I had rls so bad I had to take sinemet to relieve the discomfort. Has anyone else noticed that if they take other meds when taking pristiq it doesnt work.
1450085 tn?1298941702 Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.
Avatar f tn I would get a stronger boost in the morning and I would have that dripping down the back of the neck sensation. Pristiq does much better at keeping helplessness at bay, although it is very expensive, and I found this post looking for a cheaper and comparable alternative. I hope someone's patent expires pretty soon...I feel like I just got a handle on this and I don't really feel like wasting time on another medicine that won't work.
Avatar f tn m 31 weeks and 2 days and have been taking them all the way through my pregnancy if I stop it could harm baby so have to keep taking them book up Monday and go down and have a chat and work out what will work best for you and baby love hope this helps :-) privet message me if you want to chat love congrats love xx
603543 tn?1255294450 Im trying to figure out the best time of day to take pristiq....when does everyone take it??? plus what dosage are you on, ive been on 50mg for almost a month and am still feeling sick and tired all the time and not any better...
Avatar n tn I found relief with Effexor for several years, but now that I am taking Pristiq I have found it to be even more effective than Effexor. I like the Pristiq better because it seems to work faster and doesn't cause the constipation that Effexor can often cause. People who in the past responded well to Effexor seem to do even better on Pristiq. They both have the exact same SNRI property.
Avatar m tn Why did you switch? Pristiq is a more expensive version of effexor, it's a little different in much the same way celexa was turned into lexapro. They just altered the structure some in order to get a new patent and hopefully to have fewer side effects, but over time that usually turns out not to be the case. I ask because if the effexor was working Pristiq is pretty similar, so why switch?
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. My M.D. did give me samples of xyzal which work really well, but the Pristiq was another story. Yesterday was my first day on it, and I woke up today gasping for air, and have had shortness of breath off and on since. My doc just told me to stop taking it and go back to sertraline, however I had already taken the pristiq, so we'll see what happens.
Avatar f tn just gone on 6 weeks with pristiq feeling shaky inside, tired has anyone else feel shaky inside on this med is this a side effect after all this time or could it be its not working heard it can take up to 8 weeks has anyone taken it this long to work?
Avatar n tn I am a 51 year old female and need to stop pristiq and go back on paxil .
1696294 tn?1306552018 I would appreciate some medical info from my 'story' on file. Normally i only work with natural therapies and have been very disappointed with the whole drug taking experience. Please could one of your drs take a look at my case. I am returning to my original MD this week for a review. He is an MD but chinese practioner as well and does chinese herbs, relaxation, meditation and accupunture. I wish i had stayed there. I feel very let down atm and definitely in episode.
