572651 tn?1530999357 As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes. It makes me wonder if nitroglycerin is part of anyone's MS drug protocol? Just wondering a lot these days.....
Avatar n tn Well, Viagra is not safe at all in the presence of nitroglycerin tablets and in fact, we know that if anyone takes Viagra with nitroglycerin tablets, that the blood pressure can be lowered precipitously and can be lowered to such levels as can be extraordinarily dangerous to you. [ABC News report from May 2008 - Internet] As we know, not everyone experiences negative side effects from every medication.
Avatar n tn I take a nitrate (isosorbide) for more than 6 years 3 times before going to gym for workout. My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
1500525 tn?1458529998 Have you had an ultra-sound of your lower legs lately to see how the blood flow is? If you are having circulation problems in your lower extremities, then this would cause definite discomfort. An ultra-sound would be best, but to start, the doctor can take your blood pressure down by your ankle.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with spastic angina. i have blood pressure 116 over 72 angiogram shows no problem with cholesterol 2.5 on test. i have been given norvasc and lipitol ?
Avatar m tn I have a heart rate most of the time from 42 to 50 BPM , my blood pressure is usually 145 to 160 over 75 to 80. My cardiologist has me taking 75 mg, of Lopressor, 360 mg, of verapamil, .4 mg nitroglycerin patch. And now he wants to add 10 mg of Ramapril ( Altace ) a day, my recent cardiosrams have have shown sinus bradycardia.
Avatar n tn The sublingual nitroglycerin seems to work to relieve the pain/pressure when it occurs but I am still conerned over the shortness of breath and fatigue along with a low temperature..95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Avatar m tn Beets contains nitrates, which open up blood vessels and therefore lower blood pressure (similar to being given a nitroglycerin tab under the tongue if you are having chest pains thought to be related to a heart attack.) Please know, however, that all supplements such as beetroot capsules, are NOT studied by the FDA and should not be substituted for actual medicine. What does your doctor say about your blood pressure?
Avatar m tn The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin. Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes? Avatar f tn These were specifically for the cold hands and feet, not for high blood pressure, as mine has always been low (90/60). The Norvasc was tried for 30 days with no improvement. Nerve conduction studies ruled out nerve damage so arteriorgram of upper extremities was recommended. My results per radiologist was "Severe Vasospasms" When they injected the dye into the artery they could not see anything. However, when nitroglycerin was administered everything showed up...no blockage.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing left sided chest pains and left arm pain for several months now...I would describe the pain to be mostly pressure/tightnes in nature, sometimes it could be sharp in nature, the pain shoots down my left arm. The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal.
2093458 tn?1334288521 Last month I went to see a P.A. They measured my blood pressure during my visit. My blood pressure was 128/68. Can you please tell me why I am consider pre-hypertensive? I thought the lower number is the most important number. I even heard that if the lower number gets to be around 90 then I should worry.
Avatar f tn be a breast shadow. I was sent home after that was over with meds to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. A couple of days have passed since this incident and I have a lot more questions than answers. Does someone out there know what's going on with me?
Avatar f tn For 3 months now I have been dealing with extreme high blood pressure. Avg. 220/123, accompanied by chest pain in my upper left size of my chest. This pain does not move. I have been put in the hospital 3 times within these 3 months. I get stress tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and blood work. All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken..
Avatar n tn Viagra is a medication that also causes a drop in the patient's blood pressure. It is important for patients to ask on an individual basis whether it is a medication that they can safely take with their other medications. If you are taking a nitroglycerin preparation, Viagra is NOT allowed. Do not use Viagra within 24 hours of the test. Nitro-glycerine (sometimes given during a stress test) may interact with Viagra, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Avatar f tn m hesitant on taking the Amlodipine because it lowers blood pressure and mine is already low. As far as drinking, I wouldn't advise it especially with the Isosorbide, that is basically Nitroglycerin in a daily form. I'm not a Doctor but I hope this helps you! Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have tried all kinds of blood pressure pills and when i move up on dose to help it causes more raynauds. I finally was put on nitroglycerin patches and had to be moved up once and now i'm adding ginko to my dose and i have finally saw a change. Not a perfect fix yet but much better. I also take fish oil twice a day for the inflamation. Nitroglycerin does cause headaches but i put mine on at night so i'm sleeping thru most of the headaches.
175688 tn?1297556647 When in physical rehab after heart attacks, the blood pressure drugs I take would lower my blood pressure so far that I was encouraged to drink water to raise it. That being said, high blood pressure is an absolute guarantee of early heart trouble, and a looking at the long term, he needs to modify his diet, get exercise, etc.
Avatar f tn I also have 3 valves that regurgitate, mild dilatition of the right ventricular the right atrium LVEDP mildly increased RVSP mildly increased at rest and increased when exercising. The calcium channel blocker makes my blood pressure on the low side and heart rate low around 4l. I just started the meds. a couple of days ago. I have a long way to go with all of these problems. Hang in.
805943 tn?1238093647 Nitroglycerin is a vasodilator not only for your heart vessels but for the vascular system which then subsquently lowers your blood pressure. It even dilates the vessels in the brain which then usually gives the side effect of the headache also. Fortunately, I don't have any side effects, but many people avoid nitro due to the head ache effect and that is a problem!
Avatar m tn s why your blood pressure is lower after you exercise, the blood is still in these large muscles causing pressure to be lower. Also, your dizziness is most likely due to the lack of a cool down period. When you stop exercising suddenly, it will cause your blood pressure to drop, like when you get up too quickly. You need to gradually lower the demand on your heart by doing some kind of cool down exercise like walking or light stretching. Try it, your dizziness will most likely go away.
715004 tn?1309077280 If you do not have a blood pressure machine, I would get one and start taking your blood pressure three times a day (if you can) three times each. Record the blood pressure in a booklet. Record your heart rate also. I do not know how fast your heart rate was or how high your blood pressure was when your doctor prescribed the beta blocker. If it were me, I would want to know exactly what is wrong before taking beta blocker and nitros. Nitros are bad for the liver.
Avatar f tn When should a person go to the ER for high blood pressure. I've been having a pounding head ache, face has been flushed, etc for over three days. I used to have to take high blood pressure medicine but I was running, loosing weight and my need for the medication was done. I've recently gained weight and haven't run in about 3 months. My blood pressure is 150 over 95. When do I just wait to go see my regular doctor and when do I go to the ER?
