Common Questions and Answers about Does namenda work

namenda

Avatar n tn my husband just started on Namenda, starter doses, however, while I was at work today, he took 3 of the pills(5mg), should I be concerned? do I just have him continue tomorrow with the correct one pill in the morning? doesn''t seem to have any side effects.
20003388 tn?1515166040 I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.
Avatar f tn Although the tests came back showing no signs of Altzheimers it does not mean that the 80 year old lady does not have dementia. I would discuss this with the doctor. Fluoxetine is another name for Prosac and this is an antidepressant. The doctor must have come to the conclusion that the lady does have depression for this to have been prescribed. I would keep a watch on your neighbour and report any side effects to the doctor.
Avatar f tn The material was squirted out the bottom of my bottom back molar into the nerve canal. Formaldehyde does on the living, just exactly what it does on the dead....mummifies. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough that it completely destroyed the nerve and left me numb, it left me numb and in horrific chronic pain. I, like many of you, take handfuls of drugs just to live thru the day and suffer side effects from the drugs is just as debilitating as the pain.
Avatar n tn What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.
585414 tn?1288941302 Yes I am somewhat familiar with that. For example Namenda which is used to treat dementia is in clinical study as a mood stabilizer and to treat tardive dyskinesia. However as those medications specifically effect those receptors by mitigating their activity they work in an opposite manner to glycine and the NMDA receptor modulates.
Avatar n tn He is on Namenda and Plavix, is it possible that Adderall could help with his short term memory loss. Before the accident he lived on his own.
767538 tn?1276575320 I haven't heard of any "real" people having this done, but it was the topic of an episode of the tv program House (this may only be a US show, so not sure if everyone is familiar with it). Greg House (the physician and patient) underwent the ketamine coma/treatment for chronic severe pain for which he was addicted to vicodin. In the episode, as soon as he awoke from the coma, he was totally pain free and was able to immediately discard the cane that he had been using.
Avatar n tn My father is 84 years old and has been having blackouts and passing out in the past year. He has been taken to the hospital for injuries from these spells. He becomes very combative and is disorienented after a spell and does recognize anyone. The doctors dismiss it because they can't find anything. After a good nights sleep he is back to himself and has no memory of the day before. They say it isn't his heart, there is no evidence of a stroke or dementia. Do you have any ideas?
Avatar n tn My mom's medication regeime has had risperdal added to it. She is alteady on zoloff and the standards for alzeheimer's including namenda. Avatar m tn I am now in my forties and I just try to make the best of them because life has to go on. Ecspecially with children, anyway, how does phenobarbitol work to stop the pain of a migraine??? At the moment I am only on Topamax and take tramadol for fibromyagia, so I use that for the migraines as well. Triptains give me sever heart palapitations and cause my stomach and colon to bleed so they are not an option??? Any feedback???
Avatar f tn com/namenda-side-effects-drug-center.htm What dose is she on? Maybe adjusting her dose will decrease the dizziness. Talk to her doctor.
Avatar f tn She did a mini neuro/cognitive eval and said this may be something more than MS. Now she has prescribed Namenda XR for me. I googled it and it says it's for Alzheimers. I do have family that have/had dementia/Alzheimers. Does anyone else with MS take this??? Or do you know anyone with MS that takes it? From what I read, it makes symptoms worse with people who have MS. Sad face...
Avatar n tn Is there any kind of help for people in the first stages of dementia beside Namenda.? Is there anything in the health food stores that can be taken.? And does vitamin B1 help.?
Avatar n tn Hi Margypops, Axona is a brand-new prescription therapy launched in March 2009 for the treatment of mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease. As Alzheimer's is marked by a decrease in glucose in the brain (the primary source of food for the brain), Axona acts by providing/metabolizing glucose in the body to act as an alternate source of food for the brain.
Avatar m tn Yes, Amitriptlyline can help your migraines, but it will take at least several weeks to work. Your other symptoms could be related to your migraines. If the Amitriptylene causes drowsiness, it should go away after awhile, or maybe you can go at a lower dose to start with. If the Amitriptylene doesn't work, there are other meds to try which can prevent your migraines. I have a very difficult migraine to treat, so none of the usual daily meds worked for me, but Botox worked wonders.
574118 tn?1305135284 it drives me manic. So I thought tryptophan the precursor to resetonin might be weaker. Does it carry the same risk. I know 5-HTP does. I looked into the sold ones apparently is made from plants or extracts etc ..although an amino-acid... is it like St John Wort say but pure?. Has anyone read thoroughly or tried it with real success, especially someone who didn't have a strong depresion. I have mild depression and my food is only antipsychotics.
Avatar n tn He had panic attacks worrying about going to work. He would wake up every 15min-every hr. dress to go to work when he should have been sleeping. He also started the stutter like he couldn't get the right words out . He is on Aircept and Namenda and now can do most stuff. I hop you find out more. The Neurologist is the one who help him and me.
Avatar m tn Yes clomid does work for some people depending on the quality of your husband's sperm. I had a friend that used clomid for only 2 months and got pregnant.
