Then put me on cipro which didn't help either . The pain would come and go with lower back pain as well and getting up to urinate and bladder pressure all the time . After that my urine culture came back positive with group b strep . I'm not pregnant . My doctor gave me 7 days of penicillin .

so i am currently on my last day of the generic form of macrobid, an antibiotic for a uti. Naturally I was afraid to go on it because this was the first antibiotic i have taken in about 5 years, since I had an allergic reaction to penicillon which was deadly. So I strted the macrobid and I felt decent for the first 4 days. Just a little tired but nothing I could not handle.

Well call your doc in the morning and tell them you think you have a uti and they should have you come in to give a urine sample and will be able to give you antibiotics typically a 7-10 day treatment

I had a baby 3 weeks ago and just over the last couple of days I have experienced this terrible itching! It started in the outer genital region, and I couldn't stop, it was so itchy it almost hurt. So on Wed, Nov 16 I started taking Macrobid, thinking maybe it was onset of UTI. I took the prescribed dose until Fri, Nov 18 and on Sat, Nov 19 I decided to go to the ER since the symptoms were no better. I have no insurance and no GP OR GYN. The ER doctor did a urine test for UTI and pregnancy even though I told her I had been taking Macrobid and I had just had sex only four days ago for first time in months.

42 days left...still in the hosp :'( missin my two year old...thankfully my cerclage comes out in two weeks. I just hope i have her sooon after...

Macrobid I was told wasn't good in the first trimester. Though I'm not sure how any of them could really be considered "good". Metronidazole pretty much kills all negative cells in your body. It's so harsh that it kills the good and bad bacteria in your whoha. I'm just so concerned that it will have messed something up. I still can't even get over the fact I'm pregnant.

A lot of times the illnesses that amox is used to treat can cause a rash as well which is why many people who aren't really allergic get labeled as having an allergy... There is also the possibility that it's only amox you are allergic to and not penicillins as a whole.

Does the antibiotic macrobid used to treat uti's decrease the effectiveness of birth control? Because I'm on the pill and I shouldn't get my period for another week and I've been bleeding.. In truth, it 'could' be the macrobid but it also could be a combination of inflammation from the uti and your hormones shifting. I'd give it a cycle or two before trying to make a determination. I'm sure spotting is always a pain. Sorry that is happening.

I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this?

It feel I have small fiber neuropathy and asked my neurologist to please give me a biopsy for it. She said NO. I don't understand why not. I'll go to that website.

Have you ever heard of this happening to others? Is it because of drastic hormon changes after having kids? But in her case it happened a few years after having the baby....this is so strange.

While I had these symptoms I had a upper repsitory infection and was treated with a standrard Z pack and since that didnt work they also put me on doxycycline for a week.

I have taken Macrobid several times during various pregnancies and I know for certain that it is safe. I don't know anything about the combination of the 2 drugs but I think since your doc knows you are on one, he would not have prescribed the other if they were harmful together. I think he would have probably told you to stop taking the morning sickness medication while taking the Macrobid if the combination wasn't safe.

Penicillin helped me with testicle and extreme urethra irritation in the beginning but does not now. My doctor said I have a mushy prostate and probably prostatitis because my flow has slowed down considerably and the prostate aches once and a while before bowel movements. I was on macrobid for a UTI at the time of collection (started on macrobid Saturday, had 4 doses by the time of collection on Monday morning, blood work as fasting so last dose taken before blood collection was over 12 hours previously). Does anyone know if macrobid affects eGFR or is this level an induction of possible kidney infection/disease/cancer?
