Common Questions and Answers about Does luvox help with depression

zyvox

Avatar n tn There are other SSRIs like Luvox that may be a better match, but he should discuss this with his doctor. I support the use of medications like Luvox, but remember it will not cure him of anything...in my experience, it is a great tool to use while learning about your anxiety through counseling. By learning about it, it can help him attain long term relief from it in my opinion....keep us posted!
286686 tn?1416012340 He went to two different therapist who did not help at all. We are going to a new therapist next week who deals and works with OCD. I know medications work and effect people differently, but why are they not consistent? In the past he was on lexapro, wellbutrin and Zoloft with no relief, that is why he is on anafranil and luvox now. Thanks for listening.
Avatar m tn ] In doing her own research and through a support group, she came to know the most depression patients are prescribed Luvox for only 6 months (here in Japan). We want to have a baby and met with the doctor last year in October, who all but assured us that by now my wife would be free from Luvox, but as he has not agreed to any changes in medication amount, my wife began taking things into her own hands. First was a drug holiday (6 days of medication, one day off).
Avatar n tn has anyone here ever been on LUVOX? any luck? Im on celexa for depression and anxiety and OCD. its helping my depression and anxiety, but not really touching my OCD like my doctor had hoped. He upped my dose last week and Im going to give it a few weeks to see, but if it doesnt seem to be working, Im going to ask him about luvox.
1237495 tn?1268837283 I SUFFER from deep depression and deeper anxiety. Mind races my luvox helps during the day with my mind racing...and celexa and xanax at night for insomnia. Xanax cause I can't even pump gas without feeling anxiety.
1041243 tn?1375230520 i was on luvox for many year's and it did great, then i had a down turn and went into depression and did not care about anything.so now i am on effexor.it seem's ok,but not as good as luvox was.they said after that many year's on it,it could have run it's course.so they changed it.i asked my doctor if i could go back on luvox because it worked really well for me,and she said that will definatley be open for disscussion.
Avatar f tn me on to help other anti depressant work. They also put me on luvox for OCD. i have heard good and bad things about these combos with adderall. I dont want them to counteract the drug. So any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
497950 tn?1255863927 I went to the pdoc yesterday. She wants me to try luvox. Anyone had experience with it? Did it work? I told her I was really worried about gaining weight on it and it making me a zombie so I hope that doesn't happen. She said she's never seen anyone gain weight on it. I am a runner too so that should combat any weight gain I hope. I am very excited about something actually working for me. I got more klonopin too for the anxiety so I can function until it works.
Avatar n tn First of all are you diagnosed with depression? Anti-ocd medications are anti-depressents as well. Find out your exact diagnosis and exactly why the medications are prescribed. Ask your psychiatrist that. If they think you have depression they will tell you why. And you can discuss it with them. As for the medications you discussed I believe the first is Anafranil by brand name right? That is the earliest SSRI anti-depressent which are also used to treat ocd.
1041243 tn?1375230520 Luvox is a different med, and won't necessarily substitute for Zoloft even though both are ssris. I believe the safe way to do this is to slowly taper off the Zoloft and when you're about done, assuming you don't have significant withdrawal, slowly substitute the Luvox. What you're suffering now appears to be withdrawal from abruptly terminating the Zoloft.
Avatar m tn While seeking medical help I was prescribed Luvox under the pretense that there are no chewable or ODTs/liquid anti-depression medication, my question is if there is any way I'm able to chew the tablets and eat them that way or is there other alternatives i can seek?
Avatar n tn At about the age of 18 my symptoms started to become much worse and started including panic attacks and more sever bouts of depression. At that time I was also prescribed respirdal to take with the prozac. I have been on that combination for the last 4 years, and have been relatively stable with the anxiety being some what managable for the most part. Even so I am still dissatisfied with where I am right now, as I still show very many symptoms of OCD and anxiety.
1381925 tn?1280788541 I was diagnosed with depression and comfortable with the diagnosis until now. I have tried everything to lessen the symptoms! I have been put on celexa, prozac, abilify, lamictal, zoloft, lexapro, lorazapam, clonazpam, seraquil, luvox, deplin, pristiq, cymbalta and even done 5 sessions of ECT ( electroconvulsive shock therapy) I have been to a neurologist, had an EEG,MRI, thyroid testing, and many blood tests.
3166043 tn?1514260018 I will be 22 next week and have been on medication for my OCD, anxiety, depression and agoraphobia since I was 8 starting with Luvox. I've taken risperidol, Xanax, clonazepam, Valium, cipralex, serequel and propananol and ativan. I hate taking Meds because I wish I could deal with it on my own. Will there ever come a day where I don't have to take these Meds? I don't want them doing long term damage to my body.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from depression anxiety/panicattacks now for 22yrs. the last 6 being unbearable, I see a psycologist and a physchiatrist I was on zoloft 100mg 1xday and now weaned down to 25mg. and will be switched to Luvox and I was on xanax 1mg 1xday and was weaned off and put on clonopin .5mg... Here is the issue in the past year I have went to the E.R.
899924 tn?1242965952 The same exact and I mean EXACT same feelings started when I was in my home owners association meeting and I got into an argument with a board member. The anxiety/depression feelings lasted almost 5 months. And it wasn't even really an argument, just some silly e-mails back and forth. Everything I do during this time I'm in my funk, has this undercurrent of feelings from the same event/person from all those many weeks ago.
6530778 tn?1456883801 I think the dr. Might be able to give you something to help your thoughts. I get this all the time. It is getting slightly better with luvox.
Avatar n tn Thank you both for the great advice. It's good to hear that Klonopin can be taken long term if absolutely necessary. I've been taking 1 mg for 3 nights and still wake up with heart pounding in a terror episode, but it is brief and I can fall back asleep. I hope that goes away soon. I can't afford a psychiatrist at the moment, but I do realize I'm going to have to see one. Being this way sure isn't fun, but knowing this supportive group is out here does help.
Avatar f tn i have been on many antidepressants and they are no longer helping my md keeps increasing the doses of m current ones, luvox and wellburtin i know there are other augmenters etc i need suggestions so i can enjoy my life and not me in the continuous state of indogenus depression siggestion would be appreciated
Avatar m tn I am rather frustrated myself, but I still hope to find a medication that will last longer than a few weeks. I am thinking of asking for Luvox, which is known to help OCD. My thoughts are with you and your family, please continuing to support her and tell her that it does get better. Talking about it helps a great deal and trying to find a hobby that will keep her mind occupied.

Avatar f tn Yes, actually :) i'm really happy the way things are going. you see, 5 years ago i suffered a TBI and was in a coma for a month so i changed my brain chemisty a lot (i lost 2pnts of blood) anyway, i had these panic attack things but i didnt know what they were so i didnt tell anyone. im in college now and i just thought i was being a worry wart or stressing on purpose but i wasn't! and it took me until last thursday to go a doctor and ask to take an anxiety evaluation. but im glad i did.
