Does glucose in urine mean diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Does glucose in urine mean diabetes

glucose

Avatar f tn I have gestational diabetes and they do check with every urine test to see if you have glucose in your urine. It helps them determine if your body is having issues producing and using insulin. I will tell you glucose will show up in your urine the more sugar you eat so if you are eating a lot of Ben and jerry's that's probably what is doing it. If i go off my diet and eat a few cookies they see the glucose in my urine.
Avatar f tn My question is does it neccessarily mean that I have diabetes if I had ketones spilling into my urine on a day that I had barely eaten. I have looked all over for answers and everything I see states that this is a sign of diabetes. I am a 22 year old in the normal weight range that is physically active weekly. I do not have the most healthy eating habits but I have been working on that lately and attempting to lose weight by cutting out the things that are unhealthy and exersicing more.
Avatar n tn Hello there, I have recently been to the doctor, she said that I have very high keytones in my urine and a presence of glucose as well. In April I have been in hospital because I had a bladder/ kidney and gall- bladder infection. I still have high keytone levels and the doctors are researching where this is coming from. Could it be that there is still an infection which is why the keytones are high? have keytones got anything to do with the liver or gall-bladder?
Avatar f tn m at my appt, I was just told that glucose was found in my urine! What does it mean?? Could it be because this morning I had cereal for breakfast?? Im scared to have gd!
Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar n tn Ketones and proteins in the urine can result from many factors, like excessive exercise, dehydration, high protein diet, kidney problems, and diabetes. Diabetes in the initial stages does not produce glucose in urine. However neither will it bring about ketones and proteins in the urine at an early stage. These are generally the signs of uncontrolled diabetes. You need to check the blood sugar fasting (8-12 hours) and two hours after a proper meal.
Avatar f tn s usually well managed. My urine test showed my glucose is 250 in the urine, but my sugar checks are usually in range 2 hours after I eat. Can this high glucose in urine cause these problems I'm having for the last 10 days? I've been on doxycycline for the last 6 days, but it's not helping at all. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn A urine test is not as accurate as a blood test, but it does show for sure if sugar is spilling over into the urine because there is not enough insulin working. So it will without doubt show if the child is extremely out of good glucose control. But if things are borderline, I don't know if you will see a positive test. A glucose test from blood is much more accurate.
Avatar m tn An HbA1C blood test or a glucose test would confirm whether you have diabetes or prediabetes. Glucose will only show in the urine if it over a specific amount The symptoms of burning or having a difficulty to urinate, or pain when urinating can be caused by a bladder infection, a urinary tract infection (which could also cause pain in the kidney area), kidney stones. The protein that showed up in the urine specimen would mean that you have an infection.
Avatar n tn High blood sugar can be controlled with diabetes medications and pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics. The presence of ketones in the bloodstream is a common complication of diabetes. A urine test for ketones is more commonly done than the blood test. If there are 2 positive signs (++), this indicates the level of ketones present in her urine, which is normally negative. It is important that this is treated also to prevent ketoacidosis.
Avatar n tn Is this a decent first step for checking for diabetes? I have been told its for checking to see if you have any glucose in the urine, depending on that you would then need the blood test. Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms.
Avatar f tn They checked her sugars a couple more times over a two week period and were 102 and 11 a few hours after eating, so not bad. Another urine sample showed trace glucose. Her HA1C in office was only 5.1, so not bad. I don't know what this all really means. If it was just a fluke that her urine sugars were so high one time or what. Anyone have any knowledge on the matter?
188761 tn?1584567620 I have already consulted my primary care about this today about 3 hours back and he has recommended a urine sugar test as the glucose level in her blood is not very high but pretty much in control. However, slightly above the diabetes benchmark. But, the glucose level in her urine is high and it shows some thing like "++++" on her reports. I am very concerned if it has some thing to do with the end stage renal disease / Kidney failure. My question to you is - 1.
Avatar f tn I asked her what was the normal range and she said 0.0 - 24 and mine was a 27.8. What does that mean? She also said that my Vitamin D levels was low and that I needed to take a supplement that contains 5,000IU's daily in it. I was pretty much left like that. Not a whole lot of explanation or nothing! When I went for annual check up, I told her that I was concerned about my thyroid possible being swollen, but I don't think that she even tested any blood for that at all.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 25 year old male, had a qyestion regarding a lab test result which I got earlier this year (doctor nor I thought anything of it, questioning it now as people have mentioned this to me recently). To sum up, I had a physical done which included a random blood sugar test (to be honest, think I either took the test in the morning/didnt eat yet or had MAYBE a small snack at the most). Regardless, my random blood sugar a little while back was a 79...well within the normal test limit.
Avatar f tn my Dr says I have high sugar. What does that mean? Is it bad? What is gonna be different about my pregnancy? What should I do? Help me please!
Avatar n tn I thought some of them in the forum mention that .. if there is ants in the toilet... mean you got a high possibility diagnosed with diabetes ? Anyway ... i am very worried about the result... is there any cure ? or izzit already too late for me ...
Avatar f tn I have sugar in my urine most check ups, I've had two 3 hour diabetes tests because my dad and aunties are type 1 diabetics but I passed both :) hope it's the same for you
Avatar n tn I took my daughter in for a physical last week and the dr. told me her glucose level in her urine was 3+ and blood stick was 288. He was VERY concerned and told me to take her in to her dr. the next morning. Her regular dr. told her fasting glucose was 0 and blood stick was 127. She told me the dr.'s machines were wrong the night before (it was an Urgent Care Center) and she's fine ... asked me to bring her back in a year.
Avatar m tn She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I'm worried it could be something serious?
Avatar n tn Furthermore, this kind of information is going to depend on the individual. Just because a person is diabetic does not automatically mean his or her urine composition is going to be different from a non-diabetic person. This depends on what kind of control the diabetic has on his or her glucose levels.
