Do you take any supplements such at Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM? They work great for me. As long as I take them every single day. My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!

The only thing I have been able to do to keep the inflamation down is applying a lotion that contains Glucosamine, MSM and Arnica made by NOW. It took a few weeks before I noticed a big difference. The reason being these ingredients take time to build up in your system and because they actually heal the areas to some degree it takes longer. I also have to watch my diet and stay clear of foods that I am allergic to that can cause inflamation.

Glucosamine is fine for dogs. There are many formulas made specifically for dogs but its often cheaper to buy the human ones. MSM is a natural anti-inflammatory that is safe and may help too. Some of the dog powders/treats etc include MSM w/the glucosamine & chondroitin or you can get it separately.

MSM is methylsulfonylmethane! Probably why it goes by msm lol! You can get it at drugstores in the supplement section, or in better pet shops. The human grade is the cheapest. You can give as a capsule or just dump it on the food. Hope it helps!

You should also ask your vet about proper dosages of over-the-counter glucosamine, chondroiting and/or MSM. You can find these supplements already mixed together at your pet store, but it tends to be a lot cheaper to buy them at a human pharmacy. These supplements are a very effective preventive at keeping your dog's joints in good shape for a longer period of time than if you didn't use them, and will hopefully keep a possible hip surgery from being necessary.

My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.

Use the combination Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin. You can usually find it sold combined in that way. I use it for arthritis of knees and it helps. Glucosamine by itself didn't do anything for me.

Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs. I was told to give her glucosamine sulfate 500mg for her joints and I was for about three months and it really doesn't seem to working, so I stopped giving them to her.....Any Ideas what it could be??

Check into MSM, along with the glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. No chondroitin?

bengay - its ok - lol - avoid overuse of aspirin advil and alleve - the remedy depends mostly on the cause - there are some over the counter remedies - i take glucosamine with chondroitin and msm and vitamin d3 - these work for me - see if it goes away on its own - then try something else

ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago

I take glucosomine with chondrotin and MSM, and Omega 3. Is cod liver supplements better than omega 3? I have read about Krill oil. Has anybody tried that? Also a neighbour said Green Lipped Mussel helps her back pain. What do people here take to relieve their arthritis pain?

I firmly attribute this to take Triple Flex which is glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. You have to take it for 6 to 8 weeks before it really starts taking effect. A lot of people expect it to work immediately and do not give it the amount of time it needs to work. Tell your grandfather to be patient and if he does start taking it, I hope it works as well for him as it has for me. I wish him the best, pain can be very debilitating.

I haven't tried it, but found chondroitin and glucosamine and/or MSM to be very helpful if you're looking at non-prescription remedies. You won't see an immediate difference and I understand these products are more for prevention than curative. If your dog has severe arthritis, you really need to get a prescription anti-inflammatory like rimadyl or deramaxx. I had two dogs who took those medications for years with absolutely no trouble.
