Does fibromyalgia qualify for disability

Common Questions and Answers about Does fibromyalgia qualify for disability

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Hi, the definition of blind for disability is very tough. Does your son have other reasons for claiming disability? His eyesight will not help much, unless he has another eye problem. The best person to ask about disability is a lawyer. Our county legal society lets you talk to one for 20.00, for 30 minutes. Maybe your county has a service like this.
Avatar f tn Being pregnant is not a disability nor does it make you qualify for disability!
2030686 tn?1351688548 I was on it before hcv and am wondering if any body else is on disability and if it covers tx. I qualify for both medicaid and medicare. I also qualify extra help which means I don't have copays except $2.50 for rx. Does anybody know if ss covers tx for hcv?

Avatar n tn To even be considered for Social Security Disability, your doctor would have to submit a statement stating that you are unable to perform work of any type due to your back issues (and any other medical and/or psychological problems you may have).
Avatar f tn I am at the point in my health where I can no longer do my accounting job, have tried other jobs unsuccessfully and am considering applying for disability benefits or at least financial assistance of some sort. Unfortunately I do not know where to go or how to go about investigating any of these avenues. I have tried all fibro web sites to no avail. I cannot collect EI as I cannot work long enough to qualify. I have been unable to get a Dr.
Avatar f tn Usually two doctors have to evaluate and find specific results to qualify for a particular disability definition. It always helps in addition if one or both can write a letter defining the situation. You must see several doctors and make sure to ask for all of your records and be open about your situation with them. This would help bolster your current claim, but it can also help to maintain the claim or add these additional diagnosis.
Avatar f tn t remember the exact reasons, I recall that I went without income for 2 years and then was reimbursed for 1.5. Also, I had to wait two years to qualify for Medicare so I had to continue my former group insurance at my own expense. Whatever you do, DO NOT LET YOUR INSURANCE LAPSE. If you do, you'll be plagued by the "preexisting condition" clause for the rest of your life. Disability is no walk in the park either. My income is less than 25% of what I was making when I worked.
233622 tn?1279334905 As far as I understand it, you will not qualify for SSDI. Social Security Disability Insurance, if you have not worked in the 4 quarters before applying. At least that's what I was told at the SS office. You would qualify for Social Security Insurance,(SSI) if you were diasbled and single.
662361 tn?1225334507 In the very beginning of the call she determined that I would only qualify for SSI – I’m not sure what gave her reason to determine that because the only thing she asked at that point was whether or not I had been told by a doctor that I was unable to work (which again, she’d asked me over and over) and then rudely asked me, “is there any thing else you have wrong with you?” I then told her that I also suffered from depression.
793219 tn?1238064201 When applying for Disability you have to remember that if you are not granted Disability during the first attempted application, it can take anywhere from 2-3 years to win your case. You will most likely have to hire a lawyer to do this. Just because the Doctor says you are Disabled doesn't mean that the Government thinks you are. I had my Husband who supported us during this long waiting period and if it were not for his income, I would have been living under a bridge...so to speak.
Avatar n tn I am loosing my mind over how my financial situation will work while basically being unemployed for 2-3 months. Does anyone know if you are able to get disability while on leave?I mean technically we are disabled. My employer only does non-paid leave.
Avatar m tn Do you qualify under Canada Pension Plan to receive disability benifits for having and dealing with HepC?
Avatar f tn t make it clear. Having high enzymes over any other test does not qualify you for SSDI. What was your diagnosis? "The standards for LTD never mentioned having to be in liver failure to continue to qualify to the ltd benefits." You have to have a failing liver, ie End-Stage Liver Disease or liver cancer to qualify for disability under the Liver disease section of the Blue Book. How long did you have disability before you were reviewed again. Only one year?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what state funding may or may not be available for me since my job does not offer maternity leave? I already know that to qualify for unemployment, you have to be unemployed. Any other helpful suggestions? I live in Vermont if that helps at all...
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply! I am currently being referred to a specialist and a rheumatologist. It's just taking a while to get there. I was also recently highly recommended a specialist in my area, who turned out to be a much less than satisfactory visit. He diagnosed it as Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, a diagnosis I've heard many times before.
1488606 tn?1288192638 m on disability for fibromyalgia as well as other problems, and I can tell you that it does take a while to get disability. You need to be seeing a doctor regularly who can report to social security on your condition, a rhuematologist can diagnose you and start a treatment plan. Some people don't have to quit working with fibromyalgia if you have a good pain management plan. You also need a lawyer who specializes in disability.
1829048 tn?1318049790 Go to your local social security office and apply for disability. You just may qualify for it. I have a aunt that has this condition and currently recieves SSI Disability.
Avatar f tn Don't think so
902868 tn?1242156798 How possible is it to get approved for SSD with fibromyalgia? I have an appointment next week with the SS office in Jamestown, NY. I am from PA. Would like feedback from anybody from Pennsylvania that has been approved for SSD with this condition.
Avatar f tn I won't get paid for maternity leave through my company. However, I do have short term disability that will pay me 60% of my salary while on leave. Of course, I do pay $120 a month for short term disability insurance so they better pay me.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I was first diagnosed with a positive ANA for lupus. I've been seeing a Rheumatologist for almost 4 years now. They seem to think I have Fibro/Osteoarthritis. Currently, I'm on disability at the age of 40. I desire to return to work on a part time basis so that I can feel good about myself. Recently, my fiancée got a job in Chicago and I'm concerned if that move will make things worse. Any thoughts?
1502945 tn?1289422077 My EF is around 20% and I am diagnosed at stage 4 heart failure. I've never signed for disability for the heart failure, as I ,partly, qualified with stage 5 kidney failure(end stage renal disease), so I don't know what the rules are for heart failure. IF you have 40 work quarters immediately before you sign up for disability, then you stand a chance of receiving disability. Which means you worked full time for 10 years before you became disabled.
